Remain In Him

“But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.”
John 15:7, 8

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
Galatians 5:22, 23

How do we bring glory to God in our life? Jesus was pretty clear. He said that we need to remain in Him and produce the kind of fruit that His disciple would. Paul later explains that the fruit that the Holy Spirit produces in our life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. So how do we remain in Jesus? Larry Crabb in his book “Papa Prayer” explains, “To remain in Him means to live for the single purpose that ruled His life, with the same passion that kept Him on track. He loved His Father, He loved spending time with His Father in prayer, and He wanted nothing more than to let everyone see how wonderful His Father was, even if it cost Him His life. And that life, His life, is now in us. His passion and purpose are in our hearts.” So the secret to bringing glory to God is to create a strong relationship with God the Father. Everything else flows from that. Jesus only did what His Father told Him to do. Do we spend time enough with the Father to know what He wants? As we relate to Him in meditation and prayer, as we sit in His presence and let Him guide our life, we will see the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control more and more present in our life. This brings glory to God.

Father, help me relate to You in a more personal way. I need Your help to do this. Help me draw near to You and listen. Help me desire You above all things. Teach me, guide me, reveal Yourself to me so that I may bear Your fruit in my life that I may bring glory to You.
