TODAY’S VERSE
“So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil,’ which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires.”
Galatians 5:16 – 17 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
The fight between good and evil can really get old. This is especially true when we are talking about our own behavior. Which of us has not experienced the struggle between the Holy Spirit inside us and what Paul calls our “sinful nature”? Paul points out the difference in outcomes between both. He writes, “When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. – But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The point is clear. Paul says that we need to let the Holy Spirit guide our life if we want to see the Spiritual results that our heart really desires. Today, yield to the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to assist you in everything you do. Focus on the fruit of the Holy Spirit and watch it grow.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit that is alive in my heart. I confess my struggle with my sinful nature and ask that the fruit that comes from fellowship with the Holy Spirit will grow in my life.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE
“He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever. He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners. The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down. The LORD loves the godly. The LORD protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.”
Psalms 146:6-9 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
How the Church has distorted the purpose of God in this world. We have made it all about us. It is our worship of God, it the discipleship of our own, it is care of our buildings and programs that take top priority. Now, obviously we are to worship Him. Certainly God inhabits the praise of His people. We must disciple those who have come to faith in Christ. Christ Himself told us to go and make “disciples” of all nations. Finally, we must take care of the resources God has given us to use. But we have an incomplete picture of God’s purpose if we never consider His compassion He has toward those that are needy. Is it any surprise? God created man and woman for fellowship with Himself, but we have ignored Him and have played all kinds of havoc on this world. So what does God do? He goes after all those hurting and tries to win them to Himself. Today’s passage says, “He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners. The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down. The LORD loves the godly. The LORD protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows.” This attitude of God toward those in need is substantiated over and over again in both the Old and New Testament. The question is, will we join Him in His work? God has called you and I to follow Him; let us follow Him by helping those around us that so desperately need our help.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me see the needs of others the way You do. Help me to respond in a way that honors you. In Jesus’ name.

TODAY’S VERSE
“This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”
Hebrews 4:15,16 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
In today’s passage the author of Hebrews is using the High Priest as a model of Christ. It was the High Priest who represented the Israelites to God, confessed their sins and gave an offering for their offenses. In order to do this he would first have to confess his own sins. He would have to make a sacrifice for his own failings. After his own cleansing, then he could represent the people. You see, there was the limit to what the High Priest could do. He couldn’t help the people stop their sin. He could not meet the individual needs of the people. Today, God has created a better way. He has sent Himself to be our High Priest. God, in the person of Jesus Christ, came once for all time and sacrificed Himself so we could be forgiven. More than that, Christ is on the right hand of the Father, interceding for our every need. He knows our weaknesses, so He gives more than forgiveness. He gives us complete access to His love, power, mercy and grace. He is “our” Savior. When Christ became our High Priest, He made it personal. Today, come to God’s very throne. Come to the one who loves you and has everything you need.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I thank You for the sacrifice of Your Son, my savior, Jesus Christ. I thank You that You know who I am, You know my weaknesses and still love me. I especially thank You for promising to take care of my every need with Your mercy and grace. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE
“Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.”
I Corinthians 1:30 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
It is easy to miss the reality of what Christ has done for us. We get so caught up in our everyday living. Our habits, thoughts, emotions constantly remind us of our humanness. However, Paul reminds us that there is another reality. There is a new you! It was created in Christ when you were born again. Born again as in a “new” creature. So what is this new creature? It is royalty. It is a new child of God. Not made with flesh and blood like you were in your mother’s womb, but rather born again in the Spiritual realm. God took you, with your own self-will and sinfulness and made you right with Him. He created you this time, pure and holy and most of all He has freed you from the power of sin. It is hard to believe but you don’t have to strive to be right with God. You don’t have to beat yourself up to be pure and holy. When Christ died on the Cross and you received His free gift of salvation, He freed you from sin that very moment. He made you over again, pure and holy. He cancelled any and all records of any wrong doing and made you right with Him. Today, live in this freedom. Look into the mirror of God’s love and see what He sees.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your love and forgiveness. Thank You for freeing me from sin. Thank You for Your salvation and making me pure and Holy in Your sight. Help me live today as a person that has been made right with You.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE
“On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.”
John 14:20 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
A realization is different than knowing something. You can “know” how difficult something may be and later explain, “I never realized how much work it was really going to be!” Knowing can be academic or theoretical whereas realization is experiential knowledge. True realization is an awakening. It is an “aha” moment. We can “know” all about Christ, but realizing His presence is something totally different. Jesus is explaining that because He rose again from the dead, we should realize He is equal with God the Father. Jesus is also saying that because we believe He has a special relationship to God the Father, that we should likewise believe that He has a special relationship with us. As God the Father is “in” Jesus, Jesus is “in” us. Here is the crux of the matter. When are we going to start living as if the Almighty God of the Universe is living in us? When are we going to realize all that is ours because Jesus Christ is our Savior? It is not too late. Today, meditate on God’s love for you and His desire to live in and through you. Ask Him to help you realize what that should mean to you and the way you live.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank you for your presence in my life. Thank You for making me Your child. I pray that today I may come into a full realization of what it means to have You alive in me.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE
“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:19 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Self reliance. Isn’t that the modern day dream? Actually, it has been that way since the beginning of time. And “faith” seems to go right along with it. We have all sorts of faith when things are going well. But is it faith in God or self reliance? The answer comes when money, health or relational situations start to falter. When things start to fall apart, do we? Does our “faith” go south and fret, worry and fear start to occupy our minds? If so, listen to what Paul is saying. “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” We have a God who loves to provide all our needs. He wants to lavish us with His loving provision. So today, when we feel threatened, when we consider bad news, when something comes up that goes straight to the pit of our stomach, let us stop and consider what Paul wrote, “God will supply all your needs from His glorious riches.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me when I become self reliant and forget that it You that provides everything I need. I need You Lord and I thank You that You will supply all my needs today from Your glorious riches.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE
“Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God.”
Romans 12:19 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Revenge. What a toxic emotion. What a deceptive motive. It is so easy to slip into this deadly trap. It starts with a wound. Perhaps a deep hurt, humiliation or betrayal. Life isn’t fair, but this is just too much! Soon our wound festers and anger becomes an obsession. But what makes revenge so deceptive is that we don’t have to murder someone to get revenge. Instead, we feel justified in slandering the person, shunning them, campaigning against something they are doing or a million other ways of getting nasty. But this is not revenge. It is getting even, or giving them what they deserve, or settling the score. No, it is revenge. It is hard not to go there. What then can we do? Paul shares the only thing we can do. Let go. Give it to God. Let Him take over your case. The author of Hebrews was serious when he wrote, “Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many.”  Today, follow that advice. Let God search your heart and then pull out any bitter root that has taken ground in your emotions. Don’t let a wound fester into something worst.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, search my heart. Show me any toxic bitterness I may have. Show me any attitude or behavior of revenge. Forgive me and help me change my attitude. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
