Promised Land

“The people refused to enter the promised land, for they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them. Instead, they grumbled in their tents and refused to obey the LORD.”
Psalms 106:24-25 (NLT)

There was a place full of peace and joy. It was the promised land, a land of “milk and honey”. But it was much more than that. It was the land God promised. It represented His presence, blessing and provision. Yet they refused to enter. They refused to believe that God would care for them. We would like to think this only applied to the Israelites, but the truth is, we can feel the same way. A friend dies, we lose our job, misfortune is at our door and all of a sudden God seems distance, His promises shallow. And we begin to grumble, the promised land begins to vanish. But because we feel a certain way, because we start to think negative thoughts doesn’t make it so. There is a time to take responsibility for our thoughts, a time to renounce negative thinking and pronounce God’s truth. Today, choose faith. Put doubt, fear, anger, grumbling behind you. Choose to trust in God’s love and His promise to care of you.
Father, forgive me for grumbling. Forgive me for my lack of faith and doubt. Help me today to trust in You and believe Your promise to care for me.
