TODAY’S VERSE
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.”
Romans 8:1 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It seems that we all have an “inner critic.” If we would slow down our thoughts, we would hear a constant flow of negative chatter berating us, feeding our low self esteem, causing us to fear and doubt the unconditional love of God. Where does this cynical, ruthless and disrespectful voice come from? It comes from a variety of places. It could be a strict and legalistic upbringing. It could result from an inner belief that we are no good, someone who should constantly live in shame. Perhaps it is the result of a false guilt that cannot accept the fact that we are forgiven or it could come from the demonic forces that constantly accuse and challenge our spirituality. No one knew more about the inner critic than the Apostle Paul. Having just written, “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?” Paul knew what it was to feel condemnation. He knew the depravity of his own situation and yet he could say unequivocally that it would be “Jesus Christ our Lord!” that would free him from his sense of sin and shame. Paul would then finish this chapter with this affirmation, “Indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Today, don’t believe something about yourself that God doesn’t. Don’t wallow in the negative ranting of an inner critic. Instead, renounce the lie that you are no good and condemned and pronounce the truth, “There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, how I thank You for Jesus Christ my Lord and how I have been totally forgiven and accepted by You. Help me to know deep in my heart that there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE
“Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close.”
Psalms 27:10 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What a verse. It is a great truth. But if we are honest, we would admit it is hard to believe. Why? Because we tend to believe that God will treat us the same way our mother and father did. It is important to answer the question, “How do we feel God relates to us?” Do we really believe God will be good to us? Do we believe He will really protect us, care for us, be proud of us, love and comfort us? That is what God wants to do but chances are, if our parents were distance, we will believe the same about God. If our dad never hugged us, we probably won’t believe that God wants to comfort us. We end up believing lies. But today’s verse is true, “Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close.” So make a list. Write down how your father and mother related to you. If there is any thing negative? If so, renounce the belief that God will be the same. Even if your father and mother related negatively toward you, God won’t. He loves you. He will hold you close and relate to you in wonderful ways.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You that Your love is greater than any parent. Your protection is more powerful than any father. Your comfort is more immediate and present than any mother. Help me see it, help me believe it, help me know it deep in my soul. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE
“She touched the fringe of his robe, for she thought, ‘If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.’”
Matthew 9:20-21
“Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, ‘Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!’ Jesus stopped and called them. ‘What do you want me to do for you?’”
Matthew 20:30-32

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Deep down inside you know there has to be more. There must be relief for your pain. Perhaps like the woman in today’s passage, you wonder, “What if I could just touch the fringe on His robe?” Like the two blind men on the side of the road, if you knew Jesus was coming, you would shout out to Him. In his book The Church That Heals Doug Murren writes, “We need the miraculous in the church today. Postmodern people are too broken to be fixed through simple human caregiving; they need to be pieced back together through the Supernatural healing of Jesus through His body the church.” What is it you need today? Where are you hurting? Today Jesus is asking you the same thing that He asked the blind men, “What do you want me to do for you?”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Jesus, I am sitting here today by the side of the road. I am in great need. I have shouted for mercy and You have heard me. Now, dear Lord, please hear my request. I simply come in faith to touch the hem of Your garment and be healed. Heal me I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
II Corinthians 4:16,18
“I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”
Psalm 16:8

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The presence of God is a reality that we can experience. He is the God who is there. Unfortunately, we can go day after day and never be conscious of His reality. Leanne Payne in her book “Listening Prayer” writes, “It is especially easy for modern people to regard the supernatural world and activities as somehow less real than the world we behold with our senses. As twentieth-century Christians, we live in a materialistic age in which our systems of learning have long based their conclusions on scientific truth alone. The presuppositions of such systems have misled many generations of students, blinding them to the truths of God and the Unseen Real.” Paul says that he did not lose heart because of the reality of fixing his eyes on what is unseen. The unseen reality of God renewed his heart, day by day. David said he was not shaken by life’s experiences because he experienced God at his side. How about you? Is God’s presence a reality in your life? Do you renew your heart day by day because of the reality of His presence in your life? It’s not too late. Start today to experience His reality. Spend time with God, talk to Him, ask Him to reveal Himself to you. When you do, you will find out that He really is the “Unseen Real.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, my life is so full of everything else but You. I spend so much of my time without any awareness of Your presence. I confess, I have kept You at a safe distance, turned You into a religious relic. Forgive me. Today, reveal Yourself to me, Lord renew my heart today by Your unseen reality. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE
“So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say?”
Luke 6:46 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is so easy to speak half truths. It is easy to say what people want us to say. We are taught that truth is relative and can be bent to each situation. So how does this attitude play out when we are talking about commitment? What exactly is loyalty? Jesus asked this in His day. People were beginning to follow Him just for the miracles or food and not for the new Spiritual reality He was teaching. What was worst, however, was the fact that people said that they were followers of Christ and yet ignored His words. He compared this to a person who was building a house. Jesus insisted that if you are going to build a house, build it on a good foundation. Likewise, if you are going to build a life worth living, then it must be built on a good foundation of the teachings and person of Jesus Christ. Jesus was right. He said that you can call Him a lot of things, but if you are going to call Him Lord, you have to do what He says.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me understand more about following You. Be the Lord of my life and help me build my life on a solid foundation of Your word. AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE
“He looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts.”
Mark 3:5 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Here we see Jesus angry. The Pharisees, who thought they were so close to God because of their ability to follow the letter of the law, failed to see that it was better to follow God than their traditions. It angered Jesus to see mankind in their stubborn rebellion toward Him. It angered Him that the Pharisees thought God cared more about the law than a man that needed healing. But we also see another side of  Jesus. From anger Jesus changes His demeanor to sadness. Sadness over how far we had gotten from Him. Sadness that we are blinded to the truth and that we allow our hearts to become hardened toward Him. So often we paint the picture of an angry God. A God who cannot tolerate our sin. A God who knows all the rules and expects us to live by the rules. Yet, there is the part of God that is saddened at our willful avoidance of Him. Our slow gradual hardening of our heart. Today, come to Him. Worship Him. Let His love soften Your heart again.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I have let so many things come between me and You. I have allowed my heart to harden toward Your desire for my life. Forgive me. I come now and ask You to soften my heart again. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we – are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
II Corinthians 3:17-18 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
God is in the transforming business. I have seen it over and over again. God transformed Joseph’s situation. Joseph told his brothers, decades after they sold him to slave traders, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good.” Terry Wardle, in his book “Wounded,” writes about the transforming process he went through with the Holy Spirit, “I have experienced the healing hand of God, times of sweet intimate communion, and hard days when He seemed silent and uninvolved. – But of this I am sure: God has used these events to transform my life! – I can testify without hesitation that it is true – in God’s hands the object of one’s greatest pain does become the source of one’s greatest blessing.” There is freedom in Christ and He desires to transform you and I more and more into His likeness. Today bring your cares, burdens, and situations to Him and let Him begin to transform them.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Holy Spirit, I ask that You transform my bondage into Your freedom. Transform my pain into Your blessing. Transform my life into Your likeness. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
