Make Every Effort

TODAY’S VERSE
“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.”
Ephesians 4:2-3

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Can you imagine if everyone in the church would take these words to heart? What a witness of God’s love we would be. Paul is sharing how we should behave as a church. He writes that we are to always be humble, gentle and patient with each other. This is not easy. That is why he says that we need to make allowance for each other’s faults and to make “every” effort to be united and bound together in peace.
How about today? Who is it that bothers you? Who gets under your skin? When you catch yourself talking bad about someone, who is it? What commitment can you make to be humble, gentle and patient with that person? What efforts can you put forth in the next week to keep yourself united with them in the Spirit? This is where it needs to start. May God grant you the courage and strength you will need today to step up and make every effort to be united and at peace.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I desire be to humble, gentle and patient with those that bother me. Help me focus on Your love so I can make allowances for the faults of others. Help me, Lord, to make every effort to be united in the Spirit, binding myself with others with the bonds of peace. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
