TODAY’S VERSE
“With God’s help we will do mighty things.”
Psalms 103:13 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
In his book, “Good To Great,” Jim Collins introduced us to the term BHAG. This stood for “Big Hairy Audacious Goals.” Companies that went from good to being great had larger than life goals. Stretch goals that shaped a company into a driving economic success. Thousands of years earlier David spread the same philosophy among his countrymen. God is the God of the impossible and we do Him no service by thinking small. When Jesus, who lived a life full of miracles and wonders, was about to leave this earth, said that He had to leave so He could be replaced by the Holy Spirit. Jesus told His disciples that the Holy Spirit would guide us and lead us and then He made this incredible promise, “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!” Today, examine your heart. What have you asked God to do? What BHAG could God have for your church; your company; your family; or your life?  Join David and believe, “with God’s help we will do mighty things.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Almighty God, it’s not about me. It’s not about my fame or what I can accomplish. It is about Your glory, Your will and all the healing that is needed in this world. I ask for big audacious goals for Your kingdom. What is it You would have me do? Guide me, Lord, and help me join You in Your mighty works. I pray this Jesus, in Your name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
With God’s help I will do mighty things
Come quietly before God and sense His majesty. Feel His wonderful love for you. As you sit before Him, He calls you by name. Hear Him ask you to serve Him, to trust Him for great things. You reply, “Yes, Lord, here am I.” Spend a few moments in His presence and ask Him, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Pray, “Lord, use me, help me join You in the mighty work You are already doing.” Affirm out loud, “With God’s help I will do mighty things.”

TODAY’S VERSE
“My heart is confident in you, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart!”
Psalms 108:1 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There is a difference between “my head being confident” and “my heart being confident.” This is where faith and relationship come in. We read scriptures with our head, but we meditate with our heart. We pray “nice” prayers with our head, but we “cry out to God” with our heart. We “tell” someone about the gospel with our head, but we love them and plead for their soul with our heart. And we know the “reasons for confidence” in God with our head, but we “experience confidence” in God with our heart. David knew this kind of confidence in God through his experiential faith. He had a relationship with the true and living God that resulted in true worship and adoration with all his heart. Today, ask God to reveal Himself to you in real and experiential ways. Let your confidence travel the twelve inches from your head to your heart.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I thank You for Your presence in my life. Help me to know You better. Help me to be confident in Your love for me, not just in my head, but in my heart. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
My heart is confident in God
Today visualize yourself sitting in your home. You are alone sitting quietly in peace. There is a knock at your front door. You walk to the door and open it and there is Jesus. He is at your door and you can see by the look on His face, and by the exuberance in His body language, that He is happy to see you. He really wants to spend time with you. You can sense a deep connection. It is obvious to you that He loves you. You can feel a wonderful confidence in the love of God begin to fill your heart.

TODAY’S VERSE
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.”
Colossians 3:16 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Isolation can really get you down. It is easy to lose your focus and succumb to negative emotions when you try to live all by yourself. Loneliness can eat away at you and undermine your spiritual growth. The good news is that you don’t have to be alone. You don’t have to isolate. You have everything you need in Christ and in the fellowship of other believers to live a fulfilling Spiritual life. Paul encourages us to let His word dwell in us and penetrate deep into our heart and soul. Dwell is used to indicate something living in a residence. Christ indwells us, and through the Holy Spirit and His word, desires to have a deep relationship with us. This relationship can be as real as any relationship we have ever had. Paul also encourages us to fellowship with others. The kind of fellowship where we teach, help and admonish each other. Fellowship where we nurture our faith through singing and worship. God established the church so we could have this kind of fellowship. Today make it a point to stop isolating yourself. Establish a deeper relationship with God. Reach out and find other believers that you can share and fellowship with. As you do, God will enrich your life.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I desire to have a deeper relationship with You. I desire to enrich my life through fellowship with other Christians. Help me make this a priority in my life today. Please show me where to begin. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I strengthen myself with God’s word and the fellowship of others
We were made for relationships. Picture yourself alone and isolated from others. You have been that way for a while and you are feeling the pain. But suddenly you see others, friends, family members coming near you. Jesus Himself is walking toward you. You feel a relief. A feeling of joy starts in your lower stomach and starts to work its way up your body till it reaches your face. All the muscles in your face respond and you break out in a smile. Sense the peace the joy, the steadfastness as you embrace God and your friends. Take a deep breath and let the joyful reality of relationships flood your soul.

TODAY’S VERSE
“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.”
Romans 15:4 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Sometimes we just have to wait. “Wait on the Lord” the scriptures say. But we do not have to wait without hope. We have the written word of God which teaches us about endurance and is used by God to encourage us and give us hope. As we spend time with God and meditate on His scriptures we will find that the Holy Spirit will guide us, direct us and give us the peace and the patience we need, just when we need it the most.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me study and meditate on Your word. Help it take root deep in my heart so I will have the endurance and hope I need to livea life that is pleasing to you. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
God’s word gives me endurance and hope
See yourself meditating on God’s Holy word. Sense Him speaking to your heart and giving you wisdom and understanding. See yourself in a difficult situation and all of a sudden His word comes to your mind. Feel the peace that comes to your heart as you reflect what you have remembered and see yourself being filled with endurance and hope. Take a deep breath and let endurance and hope fill your mind with peace.

TODAY’S VERSE
“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
I John 4:8 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There are a lot of ways we can try to show that we are a Christian. We can go to church. We can attend religious programs. We can pray before meals. We can follow certain rituals. While these may be important, the real evidence that God is alive in our heart is our love for other people. Over and over again, the Bible teaches that God is not interested in our outward appearances, our sacrifices or our religious ceremonies. He is interested in our loving behavior. Are we forgiving, just, loving, kind and benevolent toward our families and those around us? If not, then we need to take time and get to know God better. Knowing God is transformational knowledge. John said that if we don’t love, we don’t know God. In the book of James we read, “Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, ‘Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?” If the love of God is in our heart, then it will compel us to love. Paul shares this kind of love in I Corinthians 13. He writes, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” We say we know God but does our behavior back us up? If not perhaps we only know “about” God. Today, spend time with Him and let knowing Him translate into loving others.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I confess that my actions don’t always confirm my belief in You. You are love and yet there have been many times that I have not been loving toward others. Forgive me. Help me today to know you better so I will be filled with Your love and go out and love others. In Jesus name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
Knowing God helps me love others
Today, mediate on a time when you felt loved. Let it flood your heart. Sense how good it felt. Now picture God coming to you and loving you in the same way. Feel His loving presence fill you with peace and joy, so much that you feel like you must love someone else in the same way. Visualize yourself giving this same love to others. Watch them respond with the same peace and joy you did. Watch as one by one you love others in the same way God loves you.

TODAY’S VERSE
“My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.”
Psalms 73:26 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Asaph, the author of this Psalm, was a bitter man. He was envious of the wealthy and upset at his own demise. He was consumed at what he thought was unfair about life. But then he came to his senses. He writes, “Then I realized that my heart was bitter, and I was all torn up inside. I was so foolish and ignorant”. How many times have we been the same way? But let me ask you. “Who says life is fair?” “Where in the Bible does it say everything in life is going to be grand?” “Where does it say that we will be spared from pain and heartache?” Asaph awoke from his bitterness with the realization of what really mattered. He wrote, “Yet I still belong to you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth.” Asaph realized what was the most important thing in life. He said it all in today’s passage, “My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.” It is the strength of the heart that comes from knowing God that matters. That is why Paul said, “Nothing can separate us from the love of God.” Our circumstances may crumble, our bodies fail, our enthusiasm all but gone and yet God will never, never, never leave our heart. The strength of our heart from His abiding presence will remain with us forever. Rejoice, His love and presence is with you forever!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me to truly understand what it is to have You as the strength of my heart. Help me treasure Your relationship above all else. Thank You for loving me and being my strength forever.
AMEN

TODAY’S VISUALIZATION & MEDITATION
God is the strength of my heart
Today visualize God being all the strength you need. See Him coming to you with loving arms to help you, guide you, comfort you and love you. Feel His presence and let His strength fill your heart. Take a deep breath and say out loud, “God is the strength of my heart.”

TODAY’S VERSE
“This is what the LORD says to the people of Judah and Jerusalem: ‘Plow up the hard ground of your hearts! Do not waste your good seed among thorns.’”
Jeremiah 4:3 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever tried planting vegetables in a patch of weeds? I did once and it was a disaster. Instead of breaking up the soil and getting rid of the weeds, I thought I would put a piece of plastic down and cut slits where the seeds would go. It made sense to me. I planted the seeds and the plastic would stop the weeds. Perhaps that would have been true if I used black plastic. But I used clear! Without knowing it, I created a greenhouse for weeds! Barely a vegetable survived. How much better had I plowed the row thus taking out the weeds and just planted the seeds. This is what God wants us to do with our heart. We are to take our spiritually hardened hearts and break up the soil. We do this by letting God’s word humble us, teach us, correct us and guide us. Through His Spirit, God takes out the weeds that have grown in our heart. When we allow this, God then replaces the weeds with the fruit of the Spirit. Is your heart hardened toward the things of God? Soften it today through prayer, a humble attitude and His word.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I give You my heart. I ask You to break up the hardened ground and pull out all the weeds. Take the seeds of your word and create the fruit of the Spirit in my life.
AMEN

TODAY’S VISUALIZATION & MEDITATION
God is producing the fruit of the Spirit in my life
Today deep into your soul. What do you see? Look at all the things you want to be different. As you do, picture your self bringing yourself to Jesus. Give Him your life and ask Him to take away all the weeds and plant the seeds of His Spirit deep in your heart. Sense His presence and His mighty power beginning to work in your heart. Feel the new life and vitality as He begins a new work in you.
