TODAY’S VERSE

“I, yes I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans?”
Isaiah 51:12 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What is the opposite of “love”? Our first answer would no doubt be “hate.” I use to think so. However, the longer I live, the more I believe “fear” is the opposite of love. True, if I am going to “act” the opposite of love, it would be to hate. But if I am going to “live” the opposite of love, it would be to live in fear! Fear keeps us from love’s reality. Fear tells us that the promises of love are nothing but lies. Fear chooses to doubt love’s sincerity. Worse, it doubts the lover. When we choose to believe fear, it means we have chosen not to believe God. He says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” And yet we act as if we are abandoned, all alone with God no where is sight. We need to start seeing God as God. We need to give up our fear beliefs and start to beleive God. We need to meditate on His love for us and then appropriate that love to every moment in our life. He is the one who comforts us. He is the one who will never leave us. He is the one who will never stop loving us. Today, believe it, rejoice in it, live as if it is true. It is.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I confess I live much of my life in quiet desperation. Fear is constantly challenging my faith. It stands between me and You. Today, I renounce that fear. I rebuke it in Your name and choose to believe in Your love for me. I believe you have not left me and will not forsake me. Help me, Father, to abandon fear and run to Your love. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE

“Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping – Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.”
Romans 4:10, 20-21(NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
If there was ever a model for living the Christian life, it is Abraham. Look again at today’s verses. There is no better way to exemplify how we are to live. Abraham lived in an incredible relationship with God. He was totally immersed in faith. He did everything with God in mind. Look at what Paul writes, “Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping – Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise.” More than that, Paul writes that Abraham was “fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.” Just like you and I, Abraham had choices to make every day. He chose to trust God. He decided that he would put his faith and hope in Jehovah. What about you? Who are you going to trust? Who will you hope in? Who will you be counting on to do what He has promised? Today, choose to live by faith in our living God. Put your full hope and trust in Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your power and majesty. Thank You for Your love for me. Thank You that I can put all my hope, trust and faith in You. And today, I choose to do so. I put my complete faith in You.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE

“For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am.”
I Corinthians 15:9-10 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Paul was called to be an Apostle, but he knew he was unworthy of the calling. He knew that it was because of the grace of God on his life that he was in ministry. But even though he knew that he was unworthy to serve Christ, he also knew that God’s love can overcome any past that Paul had. We need to come to the same realization of what God’s grace has done for us. By God’s grace we are His child. By God’s grace we are born again and forgiven of all our wrong doing. By God’s grace we have hope. By God’s grace we have a personal relationship with God. By His grace we have eternal life. By God’s grace we are alive and living with a purpose. All of us have a story. All of us, in one way or another is totally unworthy of serving Christ, but then it is God’s grace that calls us. Today, believe what Paul did. Serve God knowing, “But by the grace of God, I am what I am.” Thank God for His marvelous grace that He has so freely given us.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your grace. Thank You for all the mercy, forgiveness, hope, peace, joy and love that is mine as a result of Your grace that has be lavished upon me. I give You praise and thanks in the matchless name of Jesus.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love.”
Romans 8:38 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It seems we start out believing by nature, but soon become skeptical by practice. How many “guarantees” have you really experienced as true? We have been lied to, taken advantage of, and let down so many times we don’t know what to believe. But Paul knew one thing he was sure of. He was “convinced!” Convinced that nothing could separate him from the love of God. How many things are you convinced of? And what a difference being that sure can make. If you were convinced that you could invest $10,000 in a stock and get back $1,000,000, how long would it take you to get the $10,000? Paul had that same attitude toward the love of God. He was convinced that he could invest in God’s love and get back a peace that passes all understanding; God’s constant provision; the fruit of the Spirit; eternal life and so much more. Look over Paul’s check-off list. He was convinced that “nothing could separate us from God’s love. Not death nor life, angels nor demons, our fears for today or our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—or nothing in all creation can separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Today become convinced. God loves you and nothing will ever separate you from Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I believe, help my unbelief. I want to be convinced of Your love. Speak to my heart, move me, help me really understand how trustworthy You are and how spectacular Your love is for me.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE

“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.”
Roman 3:22-24 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What an incredible plan. What an invitation. God allows us to be fully forgiven and made right with Him by believing in Him. I cannot make it any clearer than Paul. He writes, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.” In God’s plan, it is by placing our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and receiving His death as the punishment for our sin, that we become right with Him. Have you done that? Have you come to Him and received Him as your Savior? If not, you can do it today. As Paul wrote, “This is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your wonderful plan of salvation. Thank You that the death of Your Son, Jesus Christ, paid for my sin. I put my faith in His death and accept Him as my Lord and Savior.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE

“Now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light.” Psalms 56:13 (NLT)
“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?” Psalms 139:7 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever wondered what it would have been to be Adam and Eve? They had a personal relationship with God. They met with Him every day and lived in His presence. Though they disobeyed God and changed the world forever, we still have an opportunity to fellowship with God. David knew this. As a Shepherd boy he would spend his nights under the stars and sing to God. As he grew, he became “a man after God’s own heart.” David knew what it meant to walk with God. He admitted, “Now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light.” He came to the realization that there was no where he could go, no situation he could be in that would take Him outside of God’s presence. We, too, can have that same reality. God bids us to come and fellowship with Him. He desires for us to live in His life-giving light. Today, stop and realize that you are in the very presence of God. Better yet, remind yourself that His presence lives in you! Rejoice and walk with Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your abiding presence. Thank You that there is no where I can go that You will not be there. Thank You that I can walk in Your presence and I choose to do so. I choose today to walk in Your life-giving light.
AMEN

TODAY’S VERSE

“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”
Revelation 3:20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
I have always loved this metaphor. Here is Jesus coming to the door of my heart and knocks. What a deliberate move. Jesus is so vitally interested in me and you, that He comes to us and bids to come in. And to do what? Investigate every nook and cranny in order to scorn and shame us? No, He knocks so we can invite Him in because He wants to “share a meal together as friends!” In his book, “The Deeper Journey”, M. Robert Mulholland Jr. writes, “God comes into the core of our being. God comes to bring light into darkness, cleansing into our sin, life into our deadness, healing into our brokenness, and liberation into our bondage; to nurture us there into wholeness in the very image of God.” And so today He knocks. Now a door can be a huge barrier but to a friend, it is an entrance into a wonderful relationship. Listen, can you hear His footsteps? Quick answer the door, Jesus, your friend is here.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Jesus, thank You for knocking on my door. I hear You and open up my heart. Please, Jesus, come in and fellowship with me today.
AMEN
