The Beauty Of The Lord

One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD And to meditate in His temple.
Psalms 27:4 (NASB)

It is so easy to get wrapped up in life and not catch all the beauty. Can you imagine being on a business trip to Hawaii and never stopping to gaze at the magnificent ocean or the incredible sunsets? Yet how different is that from going through day after day, week after week and never meditating on God’s goodness and unfailing kindness? David knew the treasure he had in his relationship with God and decided to appreciate it. He made it his priority. He said that the ability to be in God’s presence and behold His beauty was the most important request he made of God. I love the imagery. “Beholding the beauty of the Lord.” Have you ever beheld true beauty? It takes your breath away. It saturates your senses. It changes you. Oh that we would behold God in the same way. Today, take time and behold the beauty of God.

Father, forgive me for letting so much time go by and not appreciating Your presence. Forgive me for taking You for granted. You are God and Your love, kindness, grace and forgiveness are beyond description. Today help me behold Your true beauty.
