Worship Him

TODAY’S VERSE
Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.
Psalms 29:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
We were made to worship God. How can this be? We are so finite, so far from God. Yet in all our finiteness there is something in us that yearns to connect to the divine. There is a part of us that wants to know that there is more than this life of human frailty and a fatalistic outlook. We desire to know that there is a plan and a master creator behind the plan. David knew this and invites us to participate in the secret to life. David bids us to come and worship God in the splendor of His Holiness. What is so ironic is that God’s Holiness, in its purest form, is unknowable by human understanding. God’s Holiness is the attribute that makes Him transcendent and separate from all else. Likewise, His wisdom, knowledge, power, love and purity are way beyond our comprehension. And so we worship. We come to God with a reverent honor and adoring reverence and know with our spirit what we cannot always know with our mind. And God, in His great love for us, allows us to love and adore Him. Come today and tell God how much you love Him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.

TODAY’S PRAYER
My Lord and my God. Though I cannot begin to understand the depths of who You are, I worship You today in the splendor of Your Holiness. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Faith To Forgive

TODAY’S VERSE
Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.” The apostles said to the Lord, “Show us how to increase our faith.”
Luke 17:4-5 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Whoever said forgiveness was easy didn’t have much to forgive. It can be hard, very hard, especially when we try to do it by ourselves. That’s why Jesus was challenging His disciples to be bold in their forgiveness. He said, “Even if a person asks forgiveness seven times a day you must forgive!” I love the response of the disciples. They asked for more faith. Why did they do that? Because forgiveness is more divine than human. Forgiveness is all about faith. When our armor of rules, safety and protection is compromised; when all sense of right and wrong is violated; when our belief in a sensible world is shattered, it is hard to forgive someone. And it is hard to believe what we thought was true about God and the world we live in, are still true. It takes faith to trust God when we have been wounded. It takes faith when we have to return an act of hate with an act of love. It takes faith when our soul cries for revenge, justice and punishment and God calls for grace. We need faith to believe that God knows, God cares and that God will heal, rebuild and restore us. So today, search your heart. Is there someone you need to forgive? Ask God for faith.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father God, increase my faith in who You are and Your Supernatural love for me. Help me trust You so I can let go and forgive those that I have refused to forgive. Help me see Your ways and not mine. Help me to forgive others in the same way You have forgiven me.
In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
