True Joy

TODAY’S VERSE
It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening.
Psalms 92:1,2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
You can’t eat one meal and say that is enough for the rest of the month. It is not good enough to take one breath and quit. Most of life seems to have a rhythm, a sustainability that comes from repeated processes. So it is with praise and joy. It is not good enough to have had joy once upon a time. You can’t live a victorious Christian life on memories of better days. No, with God, every day has its measure of mercy and grace. Every day has the presence of God. The question is, “Are we aware of it?” If we are going to get all we can out of life, then we need to make a conscious effort to be aware of the presence of God. Nehemiah wrote, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” How true. What better way find joy than to proclaim His love in the morning and, when the day is over, purposely reflect on His faithfulness.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Praise You, dear God, for Your love for me. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Help me to sing Your praises, to have a heart of gladness and a spirit of thankfulness for all You have done for me. Help me to proclaim Your love every morning and Your faithfulness every night. Might Your joy be my strength today. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Never Forsaken, Never Alone

TODAY’S VERSE
God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Loneliness; abandonment; alienation; separation; betrayal; desertion. These are words that cut right to the heart. Because of our human relationships, all of us, to one degree or another, have experienced these negative emotions. The great news is that when you become His child when you are born again, you enter into a permanent relationship with almighty God. He becomes your loving Father who loves you (yes, you!) so much that He has made a tremendous promise. God has written, for all to read, that He will never, never, never, never, never, never leave you or forsake you. Never! Why? Because when He chose to love you unconditionally, it was settled, end of discussion, no changing His mind, ever. You are His child forever. The trouble is we find it hard to grasp. That is why Paul wrote, “And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Today, experience the fact that He loves you and He will never leave you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, is it really true? I want to believe it with my mind and with my heart! Give me the power to understand your great love for me and to believe your promise that You will never leave me or forsake me.
AMEN

Confidence In God’s Help

TODAY’S VERSE
So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:6 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Have you ever said anything with confidence? It is different than saying “I think so,” “Perhaps,” “Maybe” or “We’ll see.” Confidence connotes a certainty, an assurance that what we believe is true. Because we believe in a God that will never forsake us, a heavenly Father who will never abandon us, we can have confidence that this same God is our helper, our strength, our shield, our shelter in the storm, our rock of ages, our mighty fortress, our protector, our hope, our Savior. Yes, we can say with confidence, “Today, I will not be afraid!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Thank You, Mighty God, that You have chosen to be my helper. You have reached down to me and have assured me that You care, that You will always have my soul in Your hand. I thank You with confidence in my heart that what You say is true and every thought, fear, apprehension, and doubt that stands against this confidence is a lie. I accept Your help today. I will trust You and not be afraid. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Go and Do Likewise

TODAY’S VERSE
The Lord gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners. The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down. The LORD loves the godly. The LORD protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.
Psalms 146:7-9 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
The Psalmist is painting a picture of a God who cares for those in need. He loves them and rescues them. Yet we could ask of the church today, is this the God we see in the Bible? Is this the God we pray to? Where do we find this God in our Christian lifestyle? The truth is, the God we worship in the Bible has always taken the poor, downtrodden and displaced people seriously. He expects us to do the same.  In His famous parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus tells the story to a lawyer who asked Jesus what the greatest commandment was. Jesus told him to Love the Lord and love your neighbor as yourself. The Lawyer then asked, “Who is my neighbor?” When Jesus was done illustrating that the Samaritan was the only one of the three who passed the wounded man on the side of the road that showed mercy, He asked the Lawyer, “Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” The Lawyer said, “The one who showed him mercy.” Then Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.” He tells us the same. We serve God when we serve others. Ask the Lord to show you ways you can serve the needy. He cares. Do we?

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, I confess I need to be more compassionate. I need to be more proactive in helping the lonely, hurting and distraught. Please show me ways I can start to love those in need the way You do. Even today, lead me to someone I can help.
AMEN

Give This Day To God

TODAY’S VERSE
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.
Psalms 143:8 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Do you start your day hearing a word from God about His unfailing love? Do you start your day trusting in Him? Do you ask Him for direction, protection, and instruction for the tasks that are ahead of you this day? If not, why not start today? No matter what your yesterdays were, no matter what you fear for tomorrow, there is nothing stopping you from committing this day to God. You can begin a new habit of thanksgiving and expectation today.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, in the quietness of this moment, let me hear You confirm Your unfailing love for me. Right now, I put my complete trust in You. Show me the way I should go and rescue me from any trouble today. Please teach me to do Your will. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Heaven On Earth

TODAY’S VERSE
Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
Matthew 6:10 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
It is impossible to truly understand this life without considering the next life. If we are to comprehend God’s will on earth, then we must be conscious of His kingdom and let it influence our thoughts and actions. You see, nothing really makes sense in this world without a heavenly perspective. Thank God that Jesus was the bridge between the two worlds. He is the resurrection into the next world and the key to life in this one. So today, take time to invite His Kingdom to invade yours. Make room for heaven in your life. Ask God to make you really conscious of His presence right now and to influence all you think and do this day.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I confess I have had my eyes to the ground, busy focusing on my life in this world. I invite You now to invade my presence and help me see life from Your perspective. Thank You for Your resurrection and how it provides the way for me to live with You for all eternity. Help me to start living in eternity right now. May Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
AMEN

Search Me

TODAY’S VERSE
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Who are we? Who are we that the God of the universe would be interested in a relationship with us? Yet, this is exactly what today’s passage implies. It is an open invitation to you and me to sit before God and pour out our heart. David knew how prudent it is to let God search our most inner thoughts, emotions, and imaginations. We can come to God without reservation and trust that He cares; that He is interested; that He is able to show us any correction that we need. And the good news is that through this process of being transparent with God, He will lead and direct us. Do you have that kind of relationship with God? If not, you can start today. He stands at the door of your heart and knocks. Open it, invite Him in so He can know you and lead you in the way you should go.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, it is so hard to say, “Search my heart.” I don’t want to slow down. I don’t want to be vulnerable. But, if I cannot trust You with my heart, who can I trust? Forgive me for running from You. Help me be still. Lord Jesus come, search me, know my thoughts and lead me in the way You want me to go.”
AMEN
