Mercy and Forgiveness

TODAY’S VERSE
Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin.
Psalms 51:1-2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Forgiveness. It is the most exciting concept in the Bible. God loves you and me so much, but our negative attitudes, the wrongs that we have done, and the things that we have failed to do–these and more have separated us from our Holy God. But today there is hope! David knew it. He came to God and asked Him to blot out his sins. He asked God to wash him clean of his guilt, and God did! The Apostle John wrote, “If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” This assures us that if we confess our sins, repent from our negative ways and ask for His forgiveness, He will forgive and treat us as if we had never done wrong at all. His love is unconditional. His desire to forgive is insatiable. He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from it all.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord Jesus, it is hard for me to believe that You never tire of forgiving me. Help me believe it. You know me, You understand me, and even with all my tendencies, You choose to love me with a never-ending love. I confess my sin today. Please forgive me, cleanse me and help me rise in true freedom, forgiveness, and joy.
AMEN
