But God

TODAY’S VERSE
We faced conflict from every direction, with battles on the outside and fear on the inside. But God, who encourages those who are discouraged, encouraged us.
II Corinthians 7:5-6 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Two words. Two words that can turn everything around. Two words that make all the difference in the world. Two words, that are available to us at any time. Paul is beside himself so he writes, “We faced conflict from every direction, with battles on the outside and fear on the inside.” He paints a bleak picture, with seemingly no hope, and then he writes two words, “but God.” All would have been lost, “but God.” There would have been no hope, “but God.” There is nothing that could be done, “but God.” It was God. The God who encourages those who are discouraged encouraged him. And He will do the same for us. Today, let God be the difference. Let God give you all the encouragement you need. Let God be God in your life.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, you know all about me. You are the one that makes all the difference in my life. Thank You for being the God of all encouragement. Encourage my heart today.
AMEN

Holy, Holy, Holy

TODAY’S VERSE
Day after day and night after night they keep on saying, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God, the Almighty—the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come.” – And they lay their crowns before the throne and say, “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power.”
Revelation 4:8-11 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
I remember as a young child reading the fourth chapter of Revelations. I didn’t quite understand the living beings and the twenty-four elders, but I do remember the phrase, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty!” It did for me then, what it still does today. It lifted me to the heights of heaven and dropped me to my knees at the same time. I remember thinking, “Who am I, Lord, that I would be allowed to worship You in this way?” I was humbled by my unworthiness and yet mesmerized by the opportunity to join the multitude of heavenly hosts in praising God. I couldn’t help myself; something deep inside wanted to shout out, “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, God Almighty.” It was as if for that moment I was all that I was supposed to be. I still feel that way. I could be doing anything, and when a song with the phrase, “Holy, Holy, Holy” comes on, I have to stop and give my gratitude, allegiance, and worship to God. How about you? Today, give God your worship. Take your place with the hosts of heavens and cry out, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God, the Almighty—the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come. You are worthy, O Lord, our God, to receive glory and honor and power.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Oh Mighty God, I come and bow before You. I worship You for You are Holy, Holy, Holy. Truly You deserve all my praise. I love You, Almighty Lord.
AMEN

Object Oh His Love

TODAY’S VERSE
Look, the highest heavens and the earth and everything in it all belong to the LORD your God. Yet the LORD chose your ancestors as the objects of his love. And he chose you – Therefore, change your hearts and stop being stubborn. For the LORD your God is the God of gods and Lord of lords. He is the great God, the mighty and awesome God.
Deuteronomy 10:14-17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Some times we just need to be reminded. We get so busy, so crazy, so wrapped up in our world, we forget; we forget about God. And then in His mercy, He lets us come across a passage like the one today, and it calls us back to what is real, back to Him, and His love for us. The author reminds us that even though God made all of the universe and everything in it, He chose you and me to be the object of His love. The God of gods, Lord of lords, the Great God, mighty and awesome, chose you and me to be the object of His love. To truly know this and believe it, changes everything. No wonder the author writes, “Change your heart and stop being stubborn.” Today, turn to God, acknowledge Him as Lord of your life, and thank Him for all His love, grace, and mercy toward you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord God, Almighty. I thank You for choosing me to be an object of Your love. Forgive me for taking that for granted. I come to You now and surrender my life to You, for You are the mighty and awesome God, worthy of all my praise and devotion.
AMEN

Trust God With Your Life

TODAY’S VERSE
O LORD, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God!
Psalms 25:1-2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Jesus has called us to follow Him. More than church attendance and weekly worship, Jesus wants us to be His disciples. David knew what this meant. He came to Jehovah God and said. “O Lord, I give my life to you.” God would ask the same of us. And it takes faith. We are choosing to take the only life we have and say, “Here, God, I know You gave me this life, so I am giving it back, trusting that You have a plan for me. You know best, and I trust You.” That is what David did. God is asking the same of you. Today, trust Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I choose to give my life to You. I want You to be the Lord of all I am and do. I trust You, Lord, and Your unconditional love for me.
AMEN

Lord, I Am Coming

Lord, I Am Coming

TODAY’S VERSE
My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.”
Psalms 27:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship. It is a relationship with a loving God that desires to fellowship with us. This was His design since the beginning. David knew this. The Bible says of David that he was a man, “after God’s own heart.” But when you consider today’s passage, perhaps it would be better to say that God was a “God after David’s own heart.” David’s heart heard God saying, “Come and talk with me.” Do you hear the same? Do you sense that God is seeking you, that He desires to know you and for you to know Him? It is true. God does want your love and affection. It is His will that you worship Him, spend time with Him, and love Him. He is seeking you out. Today, say with David, “Lord, I am coming.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I desire to know You and to be known by You. Help me today to hear Your voice say to me, “Come and talk with me.” Help me to sense Your presence and spend time with You. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Bring It To God

TODAY’S VERSE
After Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it, he went up to the LORD’s Temple and spread it out before the LORD. And Hezekiah prayed.
II Kings 19:14-15 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
When you get bad news, what do you do? King Hezekiah was the King of Judah. The King of Assyria was mounting a campaign against the Jews, and God told Hezekiah not to worry, that He would take care of the nation. But with the same ploy that Satan used against Adam and Eve, the King of Assyria’s messenger told King Hezekiah, “Don’t let your God, in whom you trust, deceive you.” Satan’s strategy is to get us to doubt God. God loves you, don’t believe it. God will provide your needs; don’t believe it. God cares, don’t believe it. But I love Hezekiah’s response. After Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it, “he went up to the LORD’s Temple and spread it out before the LORD and prayed.” There is no better plan. There is nothing I could ever say that would be better than to take all your burdens, take all your cares, take all of your worries, and spread them out before God. Today, find a quiet place and meet with Him. Lay everything out before Him and pray. Talk to Him. Share your pain with Him. Listen to Him; let Him share with you His love and the truth about your situation. Take comfort in this; you are not deceived; you can trust God.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come to You with all my worries and cares. I lay them before You. I trust You, dear Lord. Comfort me. Guide me. Protect me, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Thanks

TODAY’S VERSE
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!
Psalms 100:4 (ESV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is easier to give thanks to God when everything is going well than it is when we have conflict and trouble in our life. When there is sickness, discouragement, failure, misunderstandings; when all seems to be lost, how can we give thanks? From a human viewpoint, we experience anxiety, depression or despair. However, knowing Jesus we are blessed with a Heavenly vantage. Paul says it this way, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Paul saw through the filter of God’s power, grace, mercy, peace, and love. The Psalmist invites us to have an ever-present attitude of praise. He said to enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. And so today, with all there is to worry about, with all your needs, frustrations and concerns, turn to God. And as you do, give Him thanks and praise because He cares for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I give You thanks for who You are. I give You thanks for Your grace, mercy, peace, and love in my life. I give You thanks for making me Your child and promising to never leave me or forsake me. I praise You and thank You in Jesus’ name.
AMEN

His Love

TODAY’S VERSE
But each day the LORD pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life.
Psalms 42:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What are you passionate about? What consumes you? What forces do you allow to shape your everyday experience? You have a choice you know. You can decide what you are going to allow to guide you. The Psalmist chose to look at life through the lens of God’s mighty love. His love is there every day, waiting for your discovery. Jeremiah said that God’s mercies are new every morning. Here the author says that every day God pours His unfailing love upon him. He couldn’t help but sing songs of praise and share life with Almighty God, who gave him life. Paul shares how the “love of Christ” controlled him. Likewise, God’s love for you is unlimited. It is unfailing. His grace is sufficient for all you need in this life. Don’t go another day without being fully conscious of it. That would be like living in paradise and never going outside. Don’t let that happen with God’s love. Step out into His love today. Soak in it. Spend time with God and let His love control your life.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank You for Your love. I thank You that Your love for me is unfailing. I ask that Your Holy Spirit would guide and direct my life and that the love of Christ would consume and control me. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Wisdom

TODAY’S VERSE
I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.
Ephesians 1:16-17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Spiritual wisdom and insight. It is perhaps the most essential trait we could ask God for. It was so important that Paul constantly prayed that God would give it to the church. When God asked Solomon to ask for anything he wanted, Solomon asked for wisdom to rule the people. God was happy with this decision and gave Solomon “a wise and understanding heart.” We need no less. Every day we face circumstances and make decisions. How often have we relied on our understanding instead of seeking God and the wisdom that He has? James tells us that if we lack wisdom, all we need to do is ask God. David tells us not to lean on our own understanding but seek God, and He will direct us. Today, ask God for wisdom. Ask Him for insight and understanding. Seek Him, talk to Him, listen to Him, and He will give you all the wisdom you need.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come to You asking for Your wisdom and insight. Guide me, direct me, give me all the wisdom I need to make it through this day. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

God’s Forgiveness

TODAY’S VERSE
The LORD is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.
Psalms 103:8-10 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
King David had an acute understanding of the love of God. It is as if he could see the very heart of Jehovah Himself. David, who knew sin so well, knew the forgiver of sin better. He who struggled with sinful passions in such profound ways was also set free by the miraculous compassion and mercy of God. Listen to what he writes. “The LORD is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. – He does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. – His unfailing love for us is as high as the heavens. – He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.” Finally, he writes, “The Lord is like a tender and compassionate father.” Who could write such beautiful words? Who could so eloquently write about God’s forgiveness other than someone who knew first hand, the love of the Father? David knew God. God offers the same experience to us. Today, meditate on God’s mercy, compassion, and love. Let the words of the Psalm radiate brightly in your heart and make them your own. And may the realization of your own forgiveness be imprinted deeply on your mind just as it was on David’s.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, how I thank You for Your compassion. How I praise You for my forgiveness. How I glorify You for Your unfailing love to me. Thank You for not giving me what I deserve but being merciful and removing all my sins from me. In Your precious name, I pray.
AMEN
