Empty Tomb

TODAY’S VERSE
Saturday evening, when the Sabbath ended, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome went out and purchased burial spices so they could anoint Jesus’ body.
Mark 16:1 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
How you come to the tomb of Christ makes all the difference. Three days had passed since the death of Christ, and some of the women thought of anointing the body of Jesus. For whatever reason, they were not expecting Jesus to have risen from the dead. And neither were the disciples. How do we come to the tomb of Jesus? We come Sundays to church with our “spices” of worship, praising Him for His sacrificial death for us. But is that as far as we go? Is it possible that we come celebrating His death for our sins while forgetting His Resurrection for our life? Do we come to the tomb looking to anoint His body, forgetting that He has risen from the dead? We do, when we worship His sacrifice but deny His power. Paul wrote to the Ephesians about this very thing. He wrote, “I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.” Today, ask God to add to your worship experience the deep understanding of God’s incredible power, the power of the empty tomb.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord Jesus, so many times I come to You as if You were still dead in the tomb. Yes, I believe in Your death and the sacrifice for my sins, but I so often forget the power of the resurrection in my life. Help me, Lord. Open my eyes that I may see You in all Your resurrection power.
AMEN

Who is jesus?

TODAY’S VERSE
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Matthew 16:15-16 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Who do you think Christ was? Who do you think He is today? It matters what you think. Was He just a good moral teacher? Was He someone who did miracles back then, but not today? Is He something aloof, an object of our ritualistic worship, but not someone I can really relate to? Peter told the real story. He started as a fisherman leaving his nets behind to follow this promising teacher. It wasn’t long before He was overwhelmed by all that was going on. Jesus had incredible teachings that impressed even His biggest skeptics. No one taught with such authority. But more than the teachings were the miracles. People were rising from the dead. Blind men were seeing. The lame were walking. And the demons, they were fleeing at the mention of His name. Then there was His moral authority. No one had ever loved others the way He did. No one had ever taught about love in the way He did. Peter couldn’t help it. He had to say, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Me? I say He is my Lord and Savior, ruler of my life, redeemer of my soul, and the lover of my very being. He is my dear Jesus. Who is He to you?

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, thank You for all You are. Thank You for Your love. Thank You for Your salvation. You truly are the Christ, the Son of the living God and I praise and worship You.
AMEN

He Is Alive

TODAY’S VERSE

I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.
Revelation 1:18 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
“He’s Alive!” Those two words can make all the difference in the world. So many people talk about a God of their choice. They say that we should be in touch with an energy, a force, or one with the universe. But the God of the Scriptures is so much more than that. We serve an entity. A true living God, not of our choice, but one that chooses us. A God who is there and is active in His creation. A God who united with us through His son Jesus. Jesus came as a baby lived among us, and then died to be a sacrifice for us. He took the penalty for our sins so we could be right with God. And then, as a result of His very Deity, Jesus rose from the dead. He is alive! What does that do for you? What reality does that speak into your life? Our God is real, and He is alive. He is all-knowing and all-powerful. And most of all, God is vitally interested in your life! Do you know Him as your Lord and Savior? If not, today, you can invite Him to be your God, and you can give Him complete control of everything that you are. When you do, He will not only be alive, He will be alive in your heart.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear God, I thank You that You are alive. I need to know that You are alive in me. Forgive me of all my sins. I accept the death of Jesus Christ as the payment for all my wrongdoing and ask You to become alive in my heart. Make me a Christian right now. I pray this in the name of Jesus.
AMEN
