Praise God

Praise God

TODAY’S VERSE
“With all my heart I praise the LORD, and with all that I am I praise his holy name! With all my heart I praise the LORD! I will never forget how kind he has been. The LORD forgives our sins, heals us when we are sick, and protects us from death.”
Psalms 103:1-4 (CEV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is so easy to get wrapped up in our everyday situations that we take all that God is doing for granted. Our hearts start to shrivel at the lack of praise in our life and then we read a passage like todays. You can sense how David’s heart was full of praise toward God for all His love and kindness. When I read, “With all my heart I praise the LORD, and with all that I am I praise his holy name! With all my heart I praise the LORD!” it was like air to the lungs of a suffocating person. I could feel my soul gasp for the spiritual air just like a person does when they are resuscitated. My heart longs to worship Him, to sit in His presence and remember how kind He has been. To muse on all the forgiveness He has showered me with. To praise Him for healing and protecting me. It is not too late. Today, I can remember. Today, I can praise Him with all my heart. And so can you. Today, let us praise Him together.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, how I praise You for all Your kindness. How I praise You for forgiving me. How I praise You for Your protection. You are worthy of all my praise. I praise Your Holy name.
AMEN

Fear Or Trust

Fear Or Trust

TODAY’S VERSE
But when I am afraid,I will put my trust in you.
Psalms 56:3 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Fear. It permeates our body and mind. We react to stress with fear and it only heaps more stress upon us. Fear takes over and plays havoc with our thinking, behavior and emotions. We all have fear, but we don’t have to let it dominate us. David knew what to do. He put his trust in God. God is greater than our circumstances. God is greater than our worst fear. Today we have a choice. We don’t have to be a prisoner of our fear. Instead, cry out to God. Give Him your fear and put your trust in Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, You know my fears. Today I come to trade with You. I will give You my trust. Please take away my fear.
In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

True Significance

TODAY’S VERSE
“How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!”
Psalms 139:17-18 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Significance. How do you find it? The story goes that a man travels all around the world looking for treasure and at the end of his life comes back to his home village to die. After he dies, the next person buys his house and finds diamonds in the back yard. He had a diamond mine in his back yard all the time. We look all around our own world to find love, acceptance and significance. The truth is right in front of us. We are significant because God created us and loves us, period. David really believed that God thought about him. You can, too. How? By believing today’s passage with your heart, not just your mind.  Read the words again and this time picture God feeling this way about you. “How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, You have created all things, and yet, out of all that You have created from before time, You think about me. More than that, You love me. I am significant to You. Thank You Lord! Help these thoughts fill my heart and shape my behavior today so I might return to You all my love and adoration. I praise You! In Jesus’ name. AMEN

Believe

 TODAY’S VERSE
“For they did not believe God or trust him to care for them.”
Psalms 78:22 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There is a fine line between trust and faith. The Children of Israel were in the wilderness, a hard and barren land. It was a difficult and cruel existence. Even though God had promised to take care of them, they did not believe it. It was hard for them to trust God to provide for them. It is hard to trust with your mind when your feet are in a precarious place. That is when trust needs to turn into faith. They would need faith that He would take care of them. This is where the Israelites failed. Like us, instead of faith, they chose murmuring and complaining. They looked around and saw nothing but rocks and a hot and barren land. They did not see God. Today, might we open our eyes to the reality of God in our own situation. Might we trust God for a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night. Might we taste the Manna and drink of the water from the rock. Today, let us rejoice, for He is Jehovah-jireh, the Lord our provider.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me for my complaining. Forgive me when I forget that You love me and are my provider. I lay my needs at Your feet and give You all my trust and faith.
AMEN

Help My Unbelief

TODAY’S VERSE
“Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed. – Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.”
Romans 4:18, 20-21
“The father instantly cried out, ‘I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!’”
Mark 9:24

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Everyday you get a choice. Circumstances may change but your choice never does. Will you choose to live with faith and hope today or not? You don’t get much time to make up your mind. Fear comes knocking on your heart’s door. He brings worry and doubt with him. Self pity, anger and apathy are right behind. Before you know it, you have wandered down the road with all those familiar companions that you have walked with so many times before. Faith and hope were never invited to come along. It would be like inviting light to join darkness. They can’t coexist. Abraham was no different than you or I. He was human. He had emotions. He had struggles and disappointment. But he knew God and he chose, against all hope, to hope. He decided not to waiver in believing God and the result was that his faith grew. As his faith grew he became convinced the God was able to do whatever He promised. God can grow this same faith in you. You can respond today the same way the father who wanted his boy healed by Jesus did. When Jesus told him, “Anything is possible if a person believes.” the father said, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!’”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I want to believe with all my heart. I want to experience Your supernatural presence in my life. So, today, I choose hope. Today, I choose to put my faith in You. I cry out from the depth of my being, “I do believe, help me overcome my unbelief!” Thank You that You will indeed help my faith get stronger. In Jesus’ name. AMEN

Comfort And Hope

TODAY’S VERSE
“LORD, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.”
Psalms 10:17 (NLT)

“Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping.”
Romans 4:18 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There are times when we feel helpless. But it doesn’t mean we are hopeless. David shared that God can give us hope no matter how helpless we feel. He hears our cries and will bring us comfort. That is why Abraham kept hoping even when there was no reason for hope. Even when circumstances did not make any sense, it was the comfort of hope that allowed Abraham’s faith not to weaken. Paul shared that “Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God.” Why did his faith grow stronger? Because He knew God and “he was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.” How my heart yearns for that kind of faith, that kind of trust, that kind of hope. Today, may we know God like David. May we believe God like Abraham. May our faith grow stronger. Today, let us keep hoping.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me know You better. Increase my faith. Help me to trust in You and be comforted and full of hope. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

You Are His Masterpiece

TODAY’S VERSE
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Ephesians 2:10

TODAY’S THOUGHT
For every truth there is a lie waiting to deceive us. Why is it so much easier to believe a lie? Why can doubt have so much impact on belief? A million people can believe the truth and yet one dissenter will get the nation’s attention. It is that way in the spiritual realm. Paul writes that we are significant. Specifically, “we are God’s masterpiece created to do the good things he planned for us to do” and what do we believe? Be honest, don’t we often believe we are no good, inferior, damaged goods and even hopeless? Where did that come from? It didn’t come from God! If we want to change what we believe, we must renounce the lies. Do it today. Lift up your heart and say it out loud, “I renounce the lie that I am no good, inferior, damaged goods or hopeless.” My friend, it is time to believe the truth about yourself. You are significant. You are a masterpiece made by God Himself. He absolutely loves you and desires you to accept the love He has for you. Renounce the lies; today choose to believe the truth.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, my Father. I confess I have believed lies about myself. I renounce these negative thoughts and feelings and command their power over me to be broken in the precious name of Jesus Christ! I choose to accept the truth, that you personally created me as a masterpiece to do the good things you have sent me here for. Thank you, dear Father, for giving me significance.
AMEN

Unworldly Peace

TODAY’S VERSE
“I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever had a crisis of faith? You know a time when you so filled with grief, sorrow and anger that you didn’t know where God was? Most of us have wrestled with this passage. Sure when things are good its message is perfectly clear, but when you are in agony you are tempted to say, “What is this passage talking about? Where is my peace of mind and heart?” It is then that I need to remind myself of the context in which Jesus said these words. Read the whole chapter and you will see that Jesus has just introduced a whole other reality. It was a cosmic introduction to the blending of this world and the next. Jesus was getting ready to go back to His father. He was about ready to face an unbearable death and spiritual suffering we cannot imagine. He was only moments from when He too would say, “Father, why have you forsaken me?” And yet, with deep empathy Jesus tells us in the first verse of this chapter not to be troubled because He was about to prepare another reality for us. It was obvious His disciples did not understand, so He tells them that He is going to give us the Holy Spirit to comfort us and help us in this world till we reach the next. And then Jesus shares today’s verse, “I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” He was right. The world cannot give us peace during our dark nights of the soul. Neither can religion. Only in blending this world and the next can we even begin to make any sense of our suffering here. Only in a larger reality can we find any peace in this dimension. Jesus came so we could live in both. I pray that today you will be able to have a glimpse of this world in light of the next and see that Jesus is the Lord of both. And may that reality begin a process of peace even in your darkest hour.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, there are times when I ask, “Where is the peace in the darkest nights of the soul? Where is the comfort in such unbearable pain?” And yet, today I see that You who suffered such pain and anguish, have taken the harsh realities of this world and blended them with the next life. Please help my heart live in both realities. Help me today begin to experience the peace that You are talking about.
AMEN

What Do You See?

TODAY’S VERSE
“The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17 (ESV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What do you see? A lot of it depends on what you are looking through. Each of us come to the Scriptures with different lenses. We see through our experiences, beliefs, senses and personality. So although scripture is true, we may have a skewed view of it. For example, in today’s verse what do you believe? When you close your eyes, do you see God as a mighty one who will save you? Or do you have some doubts as to His ability or desire? Do you see God as rejoicing over you with gladness? Is He exulting over you with loud singing? Is He ecstatic in His love toward you? Or do you have a hard time feeling like a recipient of that kind of attention from God? Finally, can you picture God quieting you with His love? Does the very thought of God bring peace to your heart? God’s word is true, but unless we read it and challenge our thinking, we will not align our beliefs with God’s. Today, ask God to help make His word clear to you and start to see what He wants you to.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me read Your word. Holy Spirit, help me to see what You really want me to see and to believe it with all of my heart. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Promised Land

TODAY’S VERSE
“The people refused to enter the promised land, for they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them. Instead, they grumbled in their tents and refused to obey the LORD.”
Psalms 106:24-25 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There was a place full of peace and joy. It was the promised land, a land of “milk and honey”. But it was much more than that. It was the land God promised. It represented His presence, blessing and provision. Yet they refused to enter. They refused to believe that God would care for them. We would like to think this only applied to the Israelites, but the truth is, we can feel the same way. A friend dies, we lose our job, misfortune is at our door and all of a sudden God seems distance, His promises shallow. And we begin to grumble, the promised land begins to vanish. But because we feel a certain way, because we start to think negative thoughts doesn’t make it so. There is a time to take responsibility for our thoughts, a time to renounce negative thinking and pronounce God’s truth. Today, choose faith. Put doubt, fear, anger, grumbling behind you. Choose to trust in God’s love and His promise to care of you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me for grumbling. Forgive me for my lack of faith and doubt. Help me today to trust in You and believe Your promise to care for me.
AMEN
