Fear Or Trust

Fear Or Trust

TODAY’S VERSE
But when I am afraid,I will put my trust in you.
Psalms 56:3 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Fear. It permeates our body and mind. We react to stress with fear and it only heaps more stress upon us. Fear takes over and plays havoc with our thinking, behavior and emotions. We all have fear, but we don’t have to let it dominate us. David knew what to do. He put his trust in God. God is greater than our circumstances. God is greater than our worst fear. Today we have a choice. We don’t have to be a prisoner of our fear. Instead, cry out to God. Give Him your fear and put your trust in Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, You know my fears. Today I come to trade with You. I will give You my trust. Please take away my fear.
In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

The God Who Is There

TODAY’S VERSE

I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
Psalms 16:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The secret in this verse is David’s awareness. God being near to us is not novel. He is omnipresent. David writes later in the Psalms that there is nowhere that we can go to get away from His presence. No, the novelty here is David’s heartfelt awareness. He knew both in his mind and in his heart that God was with him. God was as close to him as his own breath. And with that presence was a keen awareness of God’s unconditional love. It was David’s driving force. Jehovah was the God of love. He was the God who was there. And He is the same for you. Today, do not be shaken. Instead rejoice in the fact that God is with you. He is right next to you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, how I rejoice that You are with me. You have promised to never leave me or forsake me. I rejoice in Your closeness and humbly thank You for Your presence.Because of Jesus.
AMEN

Worries

TODAY’S VERSE

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
I Peter 5:7 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Some translations say, “Give all your worries to God.” I like this version where it uses the word, “Cast”. If you picked up something that was burning hot, you do not hand it off! You cast it aside, you get rid of it. There is a sense of urgency. This is what God wants us to do with all our cares. All those things that bother us. We need to “cast it off!” Instead we worry. Worry is hanging on to them. It’s trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. It is taking on something we are not capable of handling. Instead God says, “Here I AM! Cast your troubles to me. I can handle it. I love you and will take are of you.” So today, cast all your cares on Jesus because He cares for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, thank You for Your invitation to cast all my cares, troubles, concerns and worries on You. Today I give them to you. Thank You for caring for me.
AMEN

God’s Plan For Me

TODAY’S VERSE

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

TODAY’S THOUGHT
God wants to parent us. What father or mother, that purposely set out to procreate, would not desire good things for their children? Imagine the plans they would have for this child that they, out of love, deliberately conceived. With anticipation, the parents would share with each other the great hopes they had for there soon-to-be child. What consideration, what desires to bless the child, to give him or her everything they would ever need. If we as parents can show that much love, how much more than would a all loving, all knowing, all powerful God desire for those He specifically created? Today, rejoice in the fact that God knows the plans He has for you! He has plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You that I was part of Your plan from the beginning of time. You have always desired to bless me, to prosper me and to give me a hope and a future. How I thank You for this and go forward in faith believing this is Your deepest desire.
AMEN

Spiritual Growth

TODAY’S VERSE
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.”
Colossians 1:9-10

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There is one thing about life you can count on. Life is not static. You are either living or you are dying. I have learned a lot about life from gardening. To have a good garden you must have a good balance of sun, water and nutrients. We must also protect the plants by weeding and keeping away the bugs and animals that would destroy it. It is the same with our spiritual life. We must nurture and care for our own soul. We must protect ourself from spiritual forces that would destroy us. How? By letting God fill us with the knowledge of His will. He does that through Spiritual wisdom and understanding. As you seek God and learn more about Him, the more alive you will become. This will result in a life worth living, pleasing to God. Today, stop being static in your spiritual life and set your heart on gaining spiritual wisdom and understanding. Grow in your knowledge of God.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me grow in You. Help me gain Spiritual wisdom and understanding as I read Your word and listen to Your Holy Spirit. Help me grow in my knowledge of You.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I am spiritually alive in Christ
Visualize God filling you with spiritual wisdom and understanding. Sense God increasing your knowledge of Him and His will for your life. See yourself depending on Him in order to live a life worthy of Him and experiencing God’s love and presence filling you as you grow in your knowledge of Him.

My Needs

TODAY’S VERSE
“Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”
Philippians 4:6 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
We have choices. Paul starts this passage of scripture by saying, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.” This is easy to say, but hard to do! So Paul follows it with a simple but profound credo, “Tell God what you need!” “Thank God for all He has done.” We can all do that. Do you have a need? Tell God about it. Has something good happened in your life? Thank God for it. What is so amazing is Paul’s promise. If we will start sharing our needs with God and become more and more thankful for what He is doing Pauls promises, “Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” It’s simple, why not start today, “Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord Jesus, I will start today. I will tell you my needs. I will  come to You and share my heart. And then I will be thankful for what You are doing. As I do, please help me to experience Your peace, help me experience it in my heart and mind.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I am trusting God with all my needs  and thanking Him with all my heart
Quiet yourself and visualize yourself coming to God. See Him as the most loving Father in the whole universe and He loves you. Sense the freedom and joy as you come and share with Him all your needs. Sense how thankful you are for His love and concern. See yourself talking with Him sharing, laughing, and loving the way He loves you and provides for your needs.

Promises

TODAY’S VERSE
“Through his glory and integrity he has given us His promises that are of the highest value. Through these promises you will share in the divine nature because you have escaped the corruption that sinful desires cause in the world.
II Peter 1:4-4 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Peter reminds us that God has given us great and precious promises. Promises are those great weapons that we have to counter negative thinging and painful emotions. How many times we feel out of sorts, emotionally troubled when all the while God’s promises are greater than our fears and circumstances. Promises like He will never leave you, or He has fully forgiven you and has prepared a place for you in glory. God promises that nothing can seperate us from His love and that there is no condemnation now that we are in Him. He has promised that the Holy Spirit is in us to comfort, guide and direct our life. He has promised that He has given us everything we need in order to live a Godly life. Peter knew this so he encourages us to, “make every effort to respond to God’s promises.” That’s the important key to promises. If we are going to enjoy the peace and joy that comes with the promises, we need to appropiate them. We need to respond to what He promises and act on it. When we do, we will share in His divine nature and escape the negative thinking that comes with our natural human disposition.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, I give this day to You and put my faith in You and Your love for me.  Help me focus on all the great and precious promises You have given me. Help me to trust You and to not to lean on my own understanding.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I stand on God’s promises
Come to God and quiet your heart before Him. Picture God in all His power promising to love, protect you and care for you. Sense His amazing love and let your mind be at peace. Take a deep breath and as you exhale say, “Father, I trust in Your promises.”

Word And Power

TODAY’S VERSE
“Jesus replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.”
Mark 12:24 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
How clearer can it get? In one sentence Jesus identified the problem most of us have with our Christian experience. Are we doubting God? Cynical about life?  Lack of faith? Frustration with circumstances? Sin having reign in our life? It could be that we are guilty of the same problems the Sadducees, religious leaders, had. Jesus said that they did not know the scriptures or the power of God. Knowing the Bible is crucial to our Christian life. Paul wrote to Timothy that “all scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” And it is the power of God that we depend on to get us through this life. Again Paul wrote, “I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come.” Today, let us come to God and begin to know His word. Let us begin to believe in His power. Otherwise, as Jesus implied, we will be making a serious mistake.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, forgive me for I have doubted Your power and have not spent enough time in Your word. Help me to know You and Your word more. Help me to increase my faith and put my trust in both Your word and power.
AMEN

Love and Good Works

TODAY’S VERSE
“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.”
Hebrews 10:24 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
When you became a Christian, you became a follower of Christ. You became part of a world-wide fellowship of believers. This is more than a fraternity, it is a fellowship. But more than a fellowship, it is a mission. It is part of our DNA. Our mission is to love others and to become involved in doing good. Love and doing good? It sounds too simple and too humanistic. Instead, we want to preach and teach and tell others about the love of God. While this is crucial, we miss the point. God has chosen some to teach, some to preach, but He has chosen us all to love. For how would the preaching and teaching be accepted by the world if it wasn’t backed up with real living proof? And the proof that Christianity is real is in our actions, not our words. So if we want to see others around us come to know Christ, then we must think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me live for you. Help me also think of ways to motivate others around me to join me in performing acts of love and good works.
AMEN

Servanthood

TODAY’S VERSE
“Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.”
Mark 10:43 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Some of Christ’s teachings were counterintuitive to what we have learned in this world. A leader, we think, should be assertive, take charge and rule with a “my way or the skyway” attitude. But this is not the type of leader Jesus advocated. When discussions of leadership came up amongst the disciples and they were vying with each other to see who would sit on Christ’s side in glory, Jesus reminded them of His kingdom values. You see, in the Kingdom of God it is of supreme importance to love, to prefer others over yourself, to be kind and to serve. Jesus said it this way to the disciples, “Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.” A servant is one who makes sure that the needs of the person that they are serving are met. They care for the other person. They are genuinely concerned for the other person’s welfare. Jesus wants us to be that kind of leader. A person who cares about those that are following. A person that puts love in action and people above the process. Today, when you are asked to lead, remember whoever wants to be a leader must be a servant.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me lead through servanthood. Help me follow the example of Jesus who was the greatest servant leader of all. Help me love others and serve them with all my heart. I pray this in Jesus’ name.
AMEN
