Live For Him

TODAY’S VERSE
May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.
II Thessalonians 1:11-12

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Who are we that the almighty God of the universe would allow us to serve Him? Yet, that is what God has done. He specifically created us to love Him, worship Him and serve Him. But what is so amazing, is that He did not create us like robots and program us to serve Him or beat us down and force us to live for Him. No, He has drawn us toward Him by His grace. Grace, that mixture of His love, mercy, compassion, forgiveness, concern and favor, all rolled into one. It is His grace toward us that encourages our faith and compels us to live for Him. God pours His love into our heart and then empowers us to do whatever our heart desires. What has your faith in God prompted you to do for Him lately? If the answer is vague, it is not too late. God has grace enough to forgive you. He has grace enough to encourage you. He has grace enough to empower you. Come to God today and may your faith prompt you to accomplish good things for Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Thank You Lord for Your grace in my life. I pray that You will prompt me to do great things for You and then give me the power to do them. Father, might You be honored today in the way I live for You.
AMEN

Give What You Have

TODAY’S VERSE
Peter said, ‘I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!'” Acts 3:6 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
A man was crippled sitting in the Temple Gate and was asking for money. When the Apostles Peter and John came by, the man asked them for money. Instead of giving the man money, Peter was moved by God to pronounce a healing for the man. He said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” I believe that God has called you and I to respond to those in need in a similar way. We are to give to those in need what we have. What was it that Peter had? First, we see that Peter had obedience to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. It was God that orchestrated the healing. He nudged Peter to do this act of kindness and Peter obeyed. Second, we see that Peter had faith. Pronouncing the command of “get up and walk” was an act of faith. Peter trusted God to do what He had told him to do. Third, we see that Peter had authority. Peter commanded the man to be healed because Christ gave him the authority to act on His behalf. Today, you may be challenged to help others. If you are like Peter and your pockets are empty, do not despair. Give them what you do have. Give them love, hope, kindness, mercy, grace and life. Command a blessing upon them in the name of Jesus. You are an ambassador of Christ; go forward in obedience, faith and authority.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I want to be used by You to help others. Please guide me by Your Holy Spirit. Show me what You want me to do and then help me be obedient and have the faith to act in the authority. In Jesus Name. AMEN

Genuine Faith

TODAY’S VERSE
“Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you.”
II Corinthians 13:5 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is easy to go through a day and never exercise our faith. We get busy and before we know it, the day is over. When we look back we see that we never even thought about God. You may be thinking, “But what does God have to do with my job?” How about everything? You see, we live for God. No matter what our job is, we have a higher calling. That is what Paul was trying to say. He said to examine ourself to see if our faith is real. We live by faith; that means we work by faith. There is life and death going on everyday in every place of employment. People are in need of the love of God. Businesses need the direction of God. We make decisions every day and we need the wisdom of God. Paul wrote, “Surely you know Jesus Christ is among you.” He is saying the same to us. Aren’t we aware that Christ is among us? Jesus said it best. He said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” Life is more than our job. It is a calling, a mission, a life for Jesus Christ. He is the vine, we are the branches. Today let’s remain in Him and produce the fruit we were destined to produce.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, help me keep my faith genuine. I want to remain in You. I give You my life and pray that You will make me conscious of You in all that I do.
AMEN

Send Me Out With Joy

TODAY’S VERSE
“How joyful are those who fear the LORD and delight in obeying his commands.– They are generous, compassionate, and righteous. Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly.”
Psalms 112:1, 4-5 (NLT)
TODAY’S THOUGHT
God intended us for joy. And he gave us a way to live that way. He gave us His command to love God and others. This is illustrated by the  Psalmist in his example of a joyful person. Notice the attributes the writer gives to them. He writes, “They are generous, compassionate, and righteous. Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly.” But somehow we get God’s commandments all mixed up. Like the Pharisees we make living for God more about tradition and legalism. And soon joy disappears. But what did Jesus say was the commandments we were to follow? Mark writes about a person who asked Jesus, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” Jesus answered him saying, “The most important one, is this: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Tim Hughes, in his song, “God of Justice” writes it this way, “God of Justice, Savior to all – Came to rescue the weak and the poor, Chose to serve and not be served – Jesus, You have called us, Freely we’ve received, Now freely we will give – We must go, Live to feed the hungry, Stand beside the broken, We must go, Stepping forward keep us from just singing, Move us into action, We must go – To act justly everyday, Loving mercy in everyway, Walking humbly before You God – You have shown us, what You require, Freely we’ve received, Now freely we will give – Fill us up and send us out.” And He does, He sends us out with joy!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me to see others the way You do. Help me to see the joy in loving You with all my heart, soul, mind and strength and in loving others in the way I want to be loved. Lord, fill me up with Your love and Your joy and send me out.
AMEN
