Wisdom

TODAY’S VERSE
“I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.”
Ephesians 1:16-17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Spiritual wisdom and insight. It is perhaps the most important trait we could ask God for. It was so important that Paul prayed constantly that God would give it to the church. When God asked Solomon to ask for anything he wanted, Solomon asked for wisdom in order to rule the people. God was happy with this decision and gave Solomon “a wise and understanding heart.” We need no less. Everyday we face circumstances and make decisions. How often have we relied on our own understanding instead of seeking God and the wisdom that He has? James tells us that if we are lacking wisdom all we need to do is ask God. David tells us not to lean on our own understanding but seek God and He will direct us. Today, ask God for wisdom. Ask Him for insight and understanding. Seek Him, talk to Him, listen to Him and He will give you all the wisdom you need.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come to You asking for Your wisdom and insight. Guide me, direct me, give me all the wisdom I need to make it through this day. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Seek Him

TODAY’S VERSE
“My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.” Proverbs 2:1-5

“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you.” declares the LORD.” Jeremiah 29:12-14

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There is a mystery to knowing God. His love draws us to Him. God has made it abundantly clear that “whosoever will” may come to Him; but this is the beginning, not the end. If we are to follow Him, be His disciple, take knowing Him seriously, then He demands preeminence in our life. Solomon knew this. He prayed for Godly wisdom. He sought it more than anything else God could offer him and God gave it to him. He writes that it is the same for us. We must want to know God more than anything else. We need to “call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding”. He assures us that knowing God will come when we look for Him like we would look for silver and search for Him like we would search for hidden treasure. Jeremiah says it another way. He says that we will find God when we seek Him with all our heart. How much have you wanted to know God? What treasure are you seeking? What has your heart sought after? If God is going to be a serious part of your life, if you are going to live in His wisdom, then you must make knowing Him a priority. God didn’t say we had to be smart, wise, rich, talented or gifted to know Him. The only requirement is desire. Turn your desire toward God. When you do, He promises, “I will be found by you.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I admit I have let my desire wander. I have sought for fools’ gold. I have put other priorities ahead of knowing You. I come today and seek You with all my heart. Father, I yearn for Your wisdom. I desire to have understanding. I want to know You more than anything else. Teach me, guide me, lead me. I pray this in the precious name of Jesus.
AMEN

Coming To Our Senses

TODAY’S VERSE
“When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! I will go home to my father.”’
Luke 15:17-18 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It has only been recently that we have been able to understand why we are driven by so many hidden emotions. With the rise of the neurosciences we have come to know more about intrinsic memory. What has been hidden can now become integrated into who we are. We can take these new insights we get and bring them to God. He in turn can reveal to us the truth of these memories and who we really are. This has been life changing for myself and the hundreds that I am teaching. I can’t help but think of the prodigal son. For whatever reason, he too was driven and decided to leave home and spend his life in ways to regulate his emotions. No pleasure was out of the question. But like so many addictions there was a price to pay. Soon he found himself at the bottom. It was there that Jesus said, “He finally came to His senses.” And I love what he did next. Jesus said that he went home to his father. My friend, it is our Heavenly Father that can correct all our negative thinking. It is His love that can tell our hurting child inside us that all is well, we are loved. Our Father is happy to be with us, He longs to tell us the truth of who we are. Today, come to your senses. It is God who wants to forgive, to love, to heal, to set free. His grace is sufficient.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come to You with so many needs. I am driven by so many emotions. I need You to correct my thinking, heal my memories and help me revision who I am. I need to see myself through Your eyes. Father, I have come to my senses, I am coming home.
AMEN

Spiritual Wisdom

TODAY’S VERSE
I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.”
Ephesians 1:16-17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There are many things we could ask for in life, but I think Paul listed two of the most important. He was praying for the Ephesians Church that God would give them “spiritual wisdom and insight”. Imagine what you could do with that if you had it? With Spiritual wisdom and insight you could better discern God’s will in certain matters. The Holy Spirit could speak to you about your behavior, thoughts and feelings helping you make needed adjustments and changes. What about the deeper truths about God and His word? Spiritual wisdom and insight would be a key unlocking God’s treasury of knowledge. There is so much to know and experience in the spiritual realm. Today ask God to give you spiritual wisdom and insight. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you and lead you day by day.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, how I need Your wisdom. How I need Your insight. Lead me today to Your truth. Guide me, direct me, help me grow in my knowledge of You.
AMEN

Trust In The Lord

TODAY’S VERSE
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
In our western society we are always seeking to understand. Reason, logic and the scientific method rule our universities. There is nothing wrong with trying to understand, but some situations take more. They are beyond our human reasoning. Our logic can be faulty, our thinking clouded with personal agenda and false assumptions. In this world we must include the spiritual. We are human and were created to be in fellowship with God. He has intended that we seek Him for wisdom and understanding. We use faith to seek the will of our loving and tender God. In today’s passage Solomon is encouraging us to trust in God with our heart. When our mind cannot understand, we allow our heart to reach out to God. We don’t depend on our own attempt at understanding. And as we seek His will in all we do, God promises that He will show us what path to take. There is wisdom with Him. Today, as you go through your day, trust in God. Submit to Him and let Him guide you. He will direct your path.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, today I choose to trust You. I seek to do Your will, knowing that as I do, You will direct my path.
AMEN
