TODAY’S VERSE
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ – ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Matthew 25:35-36, 40 (NLT)
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Jesus used this parable to illustrate who His true followers were. He could have used any illustration. He could have said, “Those who know my word the best.” “Those that spend the most time in church.” “Those that pray the most.” But He didn’t. While those are all behaviors we should take seriously, Jesus chose to immortalize those who helped the hungry, helpless, naked, sick, and prisoners as His true followers. When are we going to get this? When will we see that this was foremost on Jesus’ mind? When are we going to see that this was what He personally exemplified? Let Jesus Himself tell us one more time, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, Help me to be more like You. Help me get involved in helping and loving those in need.
AMEN
