TODAY’S VERSE
But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
James 1:6-7 (NLT)
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Expectations have a lot to do with outcomes. What is faith if it is not an expectation that God is going to do what He said He would do? What is hope if it is not an expectation of good things to come? What are you expecting from God? What are you expecting your life to be like? The answers to these questions make all the difference in the world. The Bible gives us many reasons to expect great things in our life. We have a great God with a great love for us who has a great plan for our life. This should influence what we expect today. We should go forth today expecting God’s favor on our life. We should expect God’s love to shine in our hearts. We should expect He to listen to our prayers and grant our requests according to His will. We should expect Him to act in love on our behalf. We should expect God to be compassionate and forgiving toward us. So let me ask, “If you are a loved child of the King of Kings, what are you expecting today?”
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I say I trust You, but often my expectations betray me. I don’t act as if I believe You love me. I don’t act as if You are determined to bless me today. Forgive me, Lord. Please help me to live in the expectation of Your love and blessing in my life today and every day.
