Ransomed

TODAY’S VERSE
Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.
Isaiah 43:1 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Today’s verse is a beautiful metaphor for our Christian experience. To ransom someone in the Old Testament usually meant to pay the price to set a prisoner or enslaved person free. This person would be “redeemed” or “bought with a price.” So we see that Jesus came and took us from the slavery of sin and the prisoner of our human nature and paid our ransom with His blood. Jesus set us free. What a beautiful picture of grace and mercy. But God doesn’t finish with just redeeming us. He loves, guides, and protects us. God, through Isaiah, continues in this passage by saying, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” Today, rejoice that He has delivered you from your past and will love and protect you in the present. You are His; He knows you by name!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for redeeming me. Thank You for Your protection, love, and guidance. Thank You that I am Yours, and You know me by name! In Jesus’ Name.
AMEN

Praise Him

TODAY’S VERSE
I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Ps. 34:1 (ESV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There is much attention given today to “Being in the moment.” How much of our anxiety and depression is because we either live in the past or anticipate the future? How much better would life be if we lived in the fullness of this moment and did not react to things beyond our control? The good news is that God has given us a way to focus on the “now.” It is called praise. Yes, almost three thousand years before modern Psychology, David shares how to have good mental and spiritual health. He encourages us to praise God in all things. Praise keeps our attention on God in this moment. He is the God “who is there,” and we can praise Him in all things. If you want joy, if you want peace, if you want a vital Spiritual walk, then listen to what David made as his life motto, “I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I praise You for being there every moment of my life. I will bless You at all times. Your praise will continually be in my mouth.
AMEN

Glory To God

TODAY’S VERSE
Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness.
Psalms 115:1 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Would we rob God? You say, “But how can we rob God, He is so powerful, so Almighty?” But that is exactly what we rob from Him! We steal the recognition of His power and almightiness when we fail to give Him glory, praise, and thanksgiving. We rob God when we act as if He had nothing to do with our blessings. When we live as if He did not exist, we rob Him of His Glory. Do we diminish God? No, our lack of worship and praise does not diminish one drop from the vastness of who He is. Instead, we fail to give Him what He deserves for all His love and faithfulness to us. So today, stop, lift up your heart and give thanks to God for all He is, for all He does and all He has done! Let your prayer be, “Not to me, O Lord, not to me, but to your name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father God, forgive me for not praising You for all that You are and all that You have done in my life. I come today and give You all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness to me!
AMEN

You Were Chosen

TODAY’S VERSE
Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.
Ephesians 1:4 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Sometimes you just have to read it for yourself. This is not something your Pastor made up. It is not some “nice” idea. God inspired Paul to include today’s verse in Holy Scriptures. Paul wrote that before God created the world, He loved you and chose you to be in Christ, holy and without fault. Paul elaborated on this theme by writing, “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.” Let the thought that creating you brought God great pleasure sink deep into your heart. Today, rejoice at this incredible fact, if you know Christ as your Savior, you are His adopted child.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I am humbled that creating and adopting me into your family brought you great pleasure. I am full of thanksgiving for You loving me and choosing me to be holy and without fault in Your eyes. Thank You, in Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Plans

TODAY’S VERSE
The Lord will work out his plans for my life—for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever.
Psalms 138:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is hard to make plans. There are so many variables. Life is complex, and trying to execute the best strategies is often difficult. But here is one variable that we can count on. This is steadfast and secure, a factor that trumps all others. It is the fact that your Heavenly Father has His plans for you and will work them out. And here is another variable that will never change. God loves you! David wrote that God’s love for you will endure forever. No matter what happens, no matter what changes, God’s love for you is secure. So today, trust God. Talk to Him. Go over your plans with Him. Tell Him the desires of your heart. Know that He hears you. Know that He cares. But most of all, no matter what, know that He loves you deeply.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I am so glad I can put my trust in the plans You have for me. I thank You that I can know that You will work them out because of Your faithful love. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Seek The Lord’s Guidance

TODAY’S VERSE
Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the LORD for guidance.
II Chronicles 20:3

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What do you do when you are terrified? It is easy to panic, fret, and withdraw. King Jehoshaphat was told that three different armies joined together to take siege of Jerusalem. The Bible says he was terrified. But instead of running, he decided to seek the Lord. He prayed, “O LORD, God of our ancestors, you alone are the God who is in heaven. You are ruler of all the kingdoms of the earth. You are powerful and mighty; no one can stand against you! – Whenever we are faced with any calamity such as war, plague, or famine, we can come to stand in your presence before this Temple where your name is honored. We can cry out to you to save us, and you will hear us and rescue us.” This reminds me of another verse, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding, in all your way submit to Him and He will direct your path.” Today, no matter what your circumstance, seek the Lord’s guidance.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, You are aware of all my circumstances. There is nothing that surprises You or can separate me from Your love. Therefore I come to You with all worries and seek Your wisdom and direction. In Jesus name.
AMEN

Dare To Hope

TODAY’S VERSE
I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope
Lamentations 3:20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The scriptures share that the Lord allows the rain to fall on the “just and the unjust.” Sadness happens. We all have grief to bear. We all have a story. Today’s verse shares Jeremiah’s lament over the capture and exile of Israel. He will never forget how awful the capture was and the horrible grief over losing their homes, family, and the life they lived. Yet Jeremiah dared to hope. And his hope is our hope. Listen to what he writes, “Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning.” Today, you have hope. God’s faithfulness to you is great. Every day His mercies begin all over. You will have what you need today because His love for you never ends, and His mercy will never cease.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I come to You with my grief and concerns. I lean into You for Your unfailing love and Your never-ending mercy. I praise You for great is Your faithfulness to me.
AMEN

We Are Not Hopeless

TODAY’S VERSE
LORD, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.
Psalms 10:17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
When are you helpless but not hopeless? When you trust God. No more than a young child is hopeless when their parent stands nearby. The Psalmist assures us that the Lord hears our cries and comforts us. There may be areas in your life that leave you seemingly helpless. There appears to be no answer, no solution but remember, even when we seem helpless, we are not hopeless. Today, bring your situation to Christ. He knows your plight. He loves you with unfailing love. He hears you and will comfort your heart. Remember, the Lord knows the hopes of the helpless.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father. Thank You that You never leave me hopeless. You know me. You love me. You hear my cries, and today I hope in You. Come, dear Lord, comfort me, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

I Want To See

TODAY’S VERSE
As the man came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?”
Luke 18:40-41 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It’s the perfect story. A blind beggar is sitting on the side of the road and hears a commotion. He asks what is going on and is told that Jesus is walking by. He had heard of the miracles Jesus performed, so he began to shout repeatedly, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” The people in front of him told him, “be quiet,” but he didn’t care; he only shouted louder. And Jesus heard him. Jesus told him to come forward and asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man, barely containing himself, says, “Lord, I want to see!” Jesus, full of compassion, said, “All right, receive your sight! Your faith has healed you.” I remember reading this as a young man in complete awe. It was one of the first sermons I gave when I was fifteen asking the question, “What do you want Jesus to do?” And today, decades later, I still look for the Lord as I sit on the side of the road. So many times, I have been blind, but the Lord has compassion on me every time. Today, what can’t you see? What do you want Jesus to do for you? He is passing by, go ahead and shout out!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Oh, my dear Jesus, I am just a blind beggar on the side of the road. I need You. I am shouting out, “Have mercy on me!” Help me, Lord, see everything You want me to see.
AMEN

Hear Me

TODAY’S VERSE
Do not stay so far from me, for trouble is near, and no one else can help me.
Psalms 22:11 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever been full of despair? Have you been in such a state you weren’t sure how you would go on? Life is full of struggles, heartache, and difficulties. But there is God. David paints this horrific picture of despair, yet in the midst of it, he gives hope. Hope in God. He writes, “For he has not ignored or belittled the suffering of the needy. He has not turned his back on them, but has listened to their cries for help.” He confirms this when he continues writing, “The poor will eat and be satisfied. All who seek the LORD will praise him. Their hearts will rejoice with everlasting joy.” So today, when trouble comes, doubt creeps in, and despair is near, cry out to God. He will hear you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, You know all about me. You know my struggles and heartache. You promised Lord that You are always near, so I come to You today for help. Hear the cry of my heart, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
