I’m His Masterpiece

TODAY’S VERSE
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever felt like a masterpiece? There have been many times when I have felt just the opposite. There are certain times, certain people, or specific circumstances that seem to flip a switch in me, and the next thing I know, I am down the road of self-doubt. I feel the opposite of all those good things that God wants for me. Significant? No. Of value? No. Purposeful? No. And certainly not a masterpiece. But I have learned over time that what I may believe or not believe in those moments of self-doubt does not come from God. They are not from a Christian worldview but rather my erroneous beliefs of how I should be or what others have thought about me. I have given back to God those parts of me that I feel do not measure up, and if I cannot change them, I thank Him for them. They are all part of His plan. Today I choose to stand on God’s word and believe what Paul said. I am God’s masterpiece that He created so I can do the good things he planned for me. I invite you to do the same.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for creating me as a masterpiece for Your purposes. Help me believe that You love me and see me as significant, full of value, and deeply loved. Fill me with deep self-love that gives You all the glory and lives to fulfill the work you have planned for me. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

God’s Grace

TODAY’S VERSE
Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus.
I Timothy 1:14 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What would it be like to be filled with faith and love? How different would your life be? That is what happened to Paul. He had experienced God’s lavish grace, which left him overflowing with a deep faith in God and confidence in His love. Paul writes, “Even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my insolence, I persecuted his people. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief.” He was forgiven much, and therefore he could write, “Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was!” And it was experiencing God’s grace that filled him with faith and love. Today, if you desire to be filled with faith and love from Jesus, meditate on how gracious, merciful, and forgiving the Lord has been of you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, thank You for being so gracious and generous toward me. Thank You for Your mercy and forgiveness. Today, as I meditate on your marvelous grace, fill me with faith and love so I might live for You. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

He Knows

TODAY’S VERSE
You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh.
Psalms 38:9 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Things don’t always turn out the way we hope. In today’s passage, David was journaling about his struggles. Lamenting over all his emotional strife, in the middle of the passage, David reassured himself with the thought that the Lord knew his longings and heard even his faintest sigh. Likewise, when the Prophet Isaiah had deep concerns and things did not turn out the way he thought they should, he wrote, “my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the LORD.’” However, like David, Isaiah was confident that God was aware of his situation. He wrote, “Listen! The LORD’s arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call.” Today you can listen to both David and Isaiah and believe the same thing. You can know that even if things are not how you think they should be, even if there is strife all around you, the Lord knows what you are longing for. He hears your sighs and is never too weak to save you!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, forgive me for my doubts. I know You hear my sigh. I know that You love me. Today, I put all my trust into Your loving hands. You are my Lord and Savior, and I commit myself to you.
AMEN

God’s Amazing Deeds

TODAY’S VERSE
How amazing are the deeds of the LORD! All who delight in him should ponder them. Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty.
Psalms 111:2-3 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What do you ponder? There are so many things that vie for our attention. So much of our time is spent thinking about our future or past that we fail to consider God’s greatness in the moment. And when we fail to see God’s glory and majesty in the moment, it taints the way we view the future or the past. So the circle continues. So many of our thoughts are as if God was not in the picture. The Psalmist reminds us that the Lord’s deeds are amazing, and we should spend time pondering them. He assures us that we will see God’s glory and majesty when we do. Seeing God’s glory and majesty will affect everything else we think about. Today ponder all the glorious deeds that God is doing.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, help me to see all that You are doing around me. Help me to stop and ponder all Your amazing deeds. Indeed they reveal Your glory and majesty.
AMEN

Unfailing Love

TODAY’S VERSE
The LORD is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
Psalms 145:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What do you believe about God? This is different than asking, “What do you know about God? You may “know” that God is merciful and compassionate but deep in your heart do you believe He is merciful and compassionate toward you? The answer is found when you give in to your humanness. When you sin, how quick are you to believe you are forgiven? How safe do you feel? What kind of love do you feel with God? The reality is God is slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. Today spend time personalizing this great truth; the Lord is merciful and compassionate and is filled with an unfailing love toward you!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me for my unbelief. Help me understand how deep and wide Your boundless love is for me today.
AMEN

Joy At The Altar

TODAY’S VERSE
Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain to the place where you live. There I will go to the altar of God, to God –the source of my joy.
Psalm 43:3-4 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Joy is a deep emotion. It is an emotional feeling that all is good. It has its roots in early childhood when a child learns that someone is happy to be with them, that it is safe to be their authentic self. In today’s verse, we see a beautiful picture of God pursuing us with light to illuminate our darkness and with truth to guide us through the maze of lies and false beliefs about ourselves. The Psalmist assures us that God will graciously guide our path to His presence. As a result, the author says he will go to God’s altar. You see, you have a choice. God can lead you to His presence, but you must turn your heart to the altar. It is there, like the Psalmist, in worship, adoration, confession, repentance, and supplication, that you will find your true source of joy.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, lead me with Your light and truth to the place where You live. Help me go to the altar of Your presence and worship You. Fill my heart with Your joy, I pray.
AMEN

My Refuge

TODAY’S VERSE
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy.
Psalms 5:11 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Relief, rest, respite; sometimes, our soul just cries out for refuge. Someone to go to who cares, understands, and can help us in our time of need. The Psalmist found this in the Lord. And it is interesting to see the correlation between this refuge and joy. If it was just a place of refuge, we might get momentary peace, but no joy. Joy comes from relationships, and God Himself longs to fellowship with us and be our refuge. That is why the author writes, “Let ALL who take refuge in You rejoice and sing joyful praises forever!” God almighty, who has an unquenchable love for you, is your refuge, and you can come to Him with all your cares and needs. Today pray with the psalmist, “Lord, spread your protection over me and fill me with Your joy!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I come to You to be my refuge. Help me find rest, peace, and joy in You today. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Remain In His Love

TODAY’S VERSE
I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.
John 15:9 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is one thing to know love intellectually and another to know it experientially. It is also one thing to have experienced someone’s love and another to remain in that love. How many times have you heard that Jesus loves you? How much of that has gone from your head to your heart? How are you experiencing your relationship with Jesus today? Can you say that you have remained in His love? If not, come back. God hasn’t moved. He hasn’t stopped loving you. His love for you is unconditional, unfailing, and unquenchable. He has loved You as the Father has loved Him with eternal love. Today, return and remain in His love.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, thank You for Your love. Help me today to really grasp what that means. Help me sense it in all its warmth and power. Help me remain in the consciousness of your love all day.
AMEN

Return Me To Joy

TODAY’S VERSE
I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire.
Psalms 40:1-2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Joy comes from relationships. We see this in a baby’s response when their caregivers are happy to be with them. Likewise, David drew to his Heavenly Father for his comfort and joy. As the youngest of eight brothers, shepherding out on the hills by himself, he found solace and significance in a deep mature relationship with God. When David was in the pit of despair, sinking in the mud and mire of life, he turned to his relationship with God. He waited patiently for the Lord to help him. God heard his prayer and returned him to joy. Today, turn to God. He knows your situation. He hears the groaning of your heart. Spend time with Him and His word. Let your relationship with God your Father return you to joy.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, hear my plea for help. Deepen my relationship with You, so I can let your companionship return me to joy. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Delight

TODAY’S VERSE
The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
Psalms 37:23 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Our God is relational. He interacts with His people. It is easy to go through our day and not even think of Him, but rest assured God never stops thinking about you. He cares about the details of your life. Because of God’s deep care and concern for you, David encourages you to trust in the Lord, to delight in Him, and commit your life to His loving care. Today let Him direct your steps. Remember that He delights in every detail of your life.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I commit this day to You. Help me delight in You as You delight in every detail of my life.
AMEN
