Encourage Others

TODAY’S VERSE
So encourage each other and build each other up.
I Thessalonians 5:11 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Who are you encouraging? Do you see this as part of your Christian responsibility? You should. The New Testament is full of scriptures that tell us to love one another, bear each other’s burdens, comfort others in the way we have been comforted, and look out for the interests of others. We need each other. Jesus taught us both by His teachings and His example to live a sacrificial life putting other people’s needs ahead of our own. The Bible teaches that each of us has spiritual gifts, and we are to use those gifts to minister to others. Today, ask God to help you find those that you can encourage. Let’s build each other up.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for comforting and encouraging me. Please help me, in turn, to go and encourage others in the same way. Help me love and encourage others as Christ did.
AMEN

Tell Someone

TODAY’S VERSE
So the man started off to visit the Ten Towns of that region and began to proclaim the great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed at what he told them.
Mark 5:20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Do you tell people about Jesus? What if someone asked you, “What has Jesus done for you?” what would you say? Many of us can talk about Christ. We know all kinds of facts. We can talk about creation, prophecy, and proof of the credibility of the Bible. But we have a hard time telling someone what God has done in our life. A testimony is someone’s account of what happened to them, not some historical facts about the Bible. Today’s verse is about a man that was demon processed. Jesus came to his town and healed him. Jesus set him free, and he wanted to leave and follow Jesus, but Jesus said, “No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.” And that is what the man did. God wants to be merciful in your life. Today begin a deep and significant relationship with Christ. Love Him, talk to Him, and depend on Him. As you do, you too will be able to tell others what Christ is doing in your life. When you do, they too will be amazed.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, come to my house. Please help me. I want to know You and Your power in my life. I want to live for You and share everything You have done for me with others.
AMEN

You Were Made For Joy

TODAY’S VERSE
I will go to the altar of God, to God—the source of all my joy.
Psalms 43:4 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
We were made for joy. That is because God created us to fellowship with Him, and it is in this relationship we find real lasting joy. The deep realization of how much He loves us and delights in us causes us to spend time with Him. Like David, we will run to the altar, not an altar of brick and mortar but the altar of our heart. In this “remaining in His love”, we have a joyful fellowship with God. Jesus said it this way, “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!” The secret is remaining in His love. So today, come to the altar of God, come in joyful anticipation. Come with the full realization that He loves you like the most loving Father in the universe would love their child. Rejoice, be glad, remain in His love, and let your joy in Him overflow.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear loving Father, how I thank You for Your deep love for me. I come today to Your altar to worship and spend time with You. Today, help me remain in full awareness of Your love, so that my joy will be full.
AMEN

Comfort, Hope, and Strength

TODAY’S VERSE
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.
II Thessalonians 2:16-17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever felt like giving up? Have the pressures of life ever overwhelmed you to the point that you were full of fear? Have you ever found yourself on a merry-go-round of quiet desperation? All of us have had those kinds of times in our life. We all have a story. But here is the good news, Paul wrote a benediction that you can claim as your very own. He wanted you to know that your Lord Jesus Christ and God, who is your loving Father, loves you very much and has been gracious to you, giving you comfort and hope that you can claim as your very own. Also, He has promised to comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing that you do and say. Today, take joy in His promise. Come to Him and claim your comfort, hope, and strength.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord Jesus and God, my heavenly Father. Today I come to claim what You have promised me. I ask that You bring me comfort, a sense of hope, and all the strength I need for this day. In Jesus’ name.
AMEM

Thriving

TODAY’S VERSE
But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God. I will always trust in God’s unfailing love.
Psalms 52:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
An Olive tree was an important tree in Biblical times. With its extensive root system, it grew in rocky, arid land. Olives produced oil for cooking, lighting, medicine, and skincare. They were also an important food throughout the year. The hardwood from the plant was used for exceptional furniture, statues, and paneling. Being so dependent on the olive crop, the farmers had to make sure that the trees thrived. They had to be planted in the right soil, with enough space between each tree. With this in mind, David wrote that he was like a thriving olive tree planted in God’s temple. He thrived in God’s presence, being nourished by God’s unfailing love. There is a difference between living and thriving. Thriving is to grow and develop well or vigorously. It is to flourish full of life and vitality. This is what God desires for you. Today, decide to live in the full awareness of God’s presence in your life. Make a deliberate choice to know Him. Renounce any negative beliefs about yourself and pronounce out loud that you are a loved child of God. Quit living and start thriving. Thrive in His presence by trusting in His unfailing love.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I want to do more than simply live. More than existing; coping from day to day. Lord, I want to thrive in Your presence. Help me grow in Your unfailing love.
AMEN

Rescue Me

TODAY’S VERSE
But I will call on God, and the LORD will rescue me. Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the LORD hears my voice.
Psalms 55:16-17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Mornings were always the hardest. By night, I was alive; I felt good, depression seemed to vanish into the background. I remember feeling afraid to go asleep because I would have to start all over in the morning. The mornings were so difficult, but God was so faithful. I would read passages like today’s, “But I will call on God, and the LORD will rescue me. Morning, noon, and night I cry out in my distress, and the LORD hears my voice.” Jeremiah promised, “The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” So I decided to begin my morning the night before. I would write out my praise, prayers, the scriptures I would read, and the songs I would sing. I left nothing to chance. I would get up, and before the mental fog could wisk into my mind, I would begin my routine. How faithful God was. He met me there, time and time again. I would cry out in my pain, and He would wipe away my tears. Hope rose out of despair, and His mercies were indeed fresh every morning. They have been ever since. How about you? Do you call out to God in your pain? You can. Morning, noon, or night, He is the God who is there, the God who cares. Today call on Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, come rescue my soul. I cry out to You who is faithful. You, who loves me with unfailing love. Today, I claim Your mercies for me. Come, dear Jesus, I wait for You.
AMEN

Praise God

TODAY’S VERSE
I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name forever and ever. I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever. Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise!
Psalms 145:1-3 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
David outdid himself here. What a praise anthem. David could write this because he meditated on God’s “majestic, glorious splendor and His wonderful miracles.” He testifies that God is “merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. The LORD is good to everyone.” With this mindset, David could not help but exalt the Lord and praise Him. How about you? Will you stop and meditate on God’s majestic, glorious splendor? Will you let God’s compassion fill your heart with wonder? Today, praise God. He is worthy of our praise!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, how I praise You for Your mercy, compassion, and unfailing love toward me. How majestic You are. How glorious. I come to You with a heart full of praise for all You have done and all that You are. Indeed You are worthy of my praise!
AMEN

Equipped And Ready To Go

TODAY’S VERSE
May he equip you with all you need for doing his will.
Hebrews 13:21 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
I love it. As Christians, we have been called to be His disciples and help, “His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” Yet, at the same time, God is commanding us to live for Him; He is there equipping, encouraging, and empowering us! Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit to guide us, comfort us, and assist us. Peter writes, “By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life.” Paul adds, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” I am not sure what you believe about yourself, but this is true. God created you and wants you to live for Him. You are His representative here on earth, and He has given you everything you need to fulfill your destiny. Today choose to live for Him in all you do. He has equipped you to do it.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for creating me to be Your disciple. Thank You for equipping me to live for You. I choose to live for You this day. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Growing Faith

TODAY’S VERSE
When your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow.
James 1:3-4 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Faith grows. It is not static. We are either growing in our faith or our dependency upon Him diminishing. Through experience, we learn more about God’s faithfulness and that we can trust in His power. It is the tests in life that give us the ability to say, with confidence, “I know I can trust Him.” When times are tough, everything is on the line; there doesn’t seem any way out; that is when God’s faithfulness gets etched into our hearts. That is when our faith leaps forward. So today, trust Him. Look for an opportunity to put your faith in Him and then let it go. God is faithful. As you watch and see what God does over and over again, your faith will grow.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, help me to increase my faith. Help me know You more and more and put my trust in You. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

God Notices You

TODAY’S VERSE
Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the man, “Young man, your sins are forgiven.”
Luke 5:20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
I always loved this verse. It is so easy to think that we are insignificant, that God cares so much for others but not me, that I don’t matter. What a lie! In this passage, four men were bringing a paralyzed man to Jesus. They heard Jesus could heal, but they couldn’t get through the crowd to Jesus. Instead of giving up, they climbed to the top of the house and tore the roof apart, lowering the man right into the room where Jesus was. Now Jesus could have focused on the paralyzed man. After all, he was the one who needed help. But instead, Jesus noticed the four men and the faith and persistence they had. He noticed them. It says, “When he saw their faith.” We know that Jesus knows all about us. We know that He is omnipresent. But have you ever considered the fact that He notices you? God stops and focuses His attention on you! You are the object of His gaze. Let that sink in. He notices you, and He loves what He sees.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for Your love for me. Thank You for paying attention to me. Help me believe that You know me and are aware of who I am. Help me to appreciate that kind of personal love You have for me. Thank You, Lord, for noticing me.
AMEN
