Living In A New Sphere

TODAY’S VERSE
You must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 3:18 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Peter is saying that we need to grow “in” grace. The normal use of the word “in” meant walking through a door. You go into another room. You come, and you go. But Peter is suggesting much more!!! Peter writes that we are to grow in Grace. He uses the other word for “in.” A word that means moving and living in a whole new sphere of reality. Peter says that as a Christian, even though we are on earth, we live in another sphere or reality of God’s grace and knowledge. Grace is God’s favor, affection, mercy, and thoughts toward you. Knowledge is “experientially knowing” something. It is a working knowledge gleaned from personal experience! Today, stop and realize where you live. You live in a spiritual sphere where you grow in and have first-hand knowledge of God’s favor, affection, and mercy. Welcome to this new world!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for inviting me to live in this new sphere of grace and knowledge. Help me enter into it fully and grow and mature in this atmosphere of Your favor, affection, and mercy.
Amen

God’s Love

TODAY’S VERSE
For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
Zephaniah 3:17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is easy to feel that we are all alone. No one understands us. Life gets hard, and we think we have no one to go to. But nothing could be farther from the truth. Zephaniah knew what it was to live in darkness. He was a child during the rain of the evil King Manasseh and King Amon. There was idolatry, child sacrifice, murders, and other evil throughout the land. But Zephaniah grew up to know and trust in the Lord. He shares that we are never alone, that God is living among us. God is our mighty savior. He writes that God takes delight in us with gladness and that God will calm all our fears with His love. God is rejoicing over you right now with exuberant joy! Today, know that you are not alone. God, who is love, loves you more than you can imagine, and He is ecstatic with joy to have you as His child.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You so much for being with me, saving me, and protecting me. Most of all, thank You that you are glad to be with me rejoicing in who I am and what I mean to You. Help me, Lord to fully understand this.
Amen

ENcouragement

TODAY’S VERSE
But God, who encourages those who are discouraged, encouraged us.
II Corinthians 7:6 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is easy to become discouraged. Finances, health, relationships, career, family all of them can present us with tremendous challenges and ample opportunity for discouragement. The good news is that there is someone bigger than our situation. Paul knew it. He writes, “When we arrived in Macedonia, there was no rest for us. We faced conflict from every direction, with battles on the outside and fear on the inside.” And then he adds the phrase that changes everything. He writes, “But God.” It doesn’t get any better than that. He writes, “But God who encourages those who are discouraged, encouraged us.” In this case, God did it through the arrival of Titus to minister with Paul. I don’t know how God will do it for you, but today you have the God who encourages the discouraged. Watch for it; let Him encourage you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, You are the great encourager. I pray that in Your own marvelous way, You would encourage my heart today. In Jesus’ name.
Amen

Encouragement

TODAY’S VERSE
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.
I Thessalonians 5:11 NLT

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Ever been so thirsty you felt parched? You couldn’t wait until you had a glass of water. When you finally took a drink, it was heavenly, refreshing, and brought new life to your body. That is what encouragement does. It is like a cooling salve on a bad burn. A refreshing breeze on a hot, humid day. The laughter of children when in an anxious state. There is something about a person who is with you when all seems lost. Their presence speaks volumes. They comfort you with their empathy in what they say and do. We need encouragement, and God commands us to encourage one another. In fact, the only thing I can think of that is wrong with encouragement is that there isn’t enough! Today, be God’s messenger of hope, love, peace, and joy. People all around you are thirsty for encouragement. Take your love and fill their cup!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for Your encouragement. Help me to be selfless and encourage others in the way You have encouraged me.
AMEN

His Masterpiece

TODAY’S VERSE
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There is something very personal about God planning out your life before you were born. Can you imagine? God thought of you and decided He would create you. But not just an ordinary run-of-the-mill creation. A masterpiece. But chances are you don’t believe that. For some, it is much worse. You think that God made a mistake with your life. Who was it that sold you that lie? How is it that you think you are inferior, no good, broken, less than what you should be? My friend, God did not make a mistake with you. He knew exactly what He was doing, and it doesn’t matter what you have done with your life; this doesn’t change – God has created you to do all the good things He planned for you long ago! Today, meditate on this; you are His workmanship. He is proud of what He has created in you. And when you start to understand that, you can begin all those good things He designed you to do.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for purposely creating me as a masterpiece. Help me grasp the reality of how You delight in me. Help me understand how You have designed me to do good and show me what You want me to do with my life. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

The God Of All Hope

TODAY’S VERSE
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There is hope, and then there is HOPE. At first, it would seem that the difference would be the degree of our trust in Him. Little trust, little hope. Large trust, large hope. But as we read today’s verse, we see it is not trusting that makes the difference as much as what we have our trust in. Hope comes from the fact that we trust in the magnificence of God. Paul says that God is the source of our hope and that it is God that fills us with joy and peace. God gives us His Holy Spirit, whose power causes us to overflow with confident hope. So today, put your trust in Almighty God, the God of all power, the God of all love, and let Him fill you with joy, peace, and hope.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I pray that You would fill me completely with joy, peace, and hope through the power of Your Holy Spirit. Help me overflow with a confident hope in You and Your love for me. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Encouragement

TODAY’S VERSE
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
Hebrews 3:13 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
God made us for fellowship. It is wired into our brains. We need God and other people. Relationships also play a pivotal role in our Christianity. We must attune ourselves to God and to each other. If we don’t, then we isolate. And when we isolate, we start to ruminate on our inner thoughts with no checks or balance. What starts out as hurt can fester into a deep wound if there is no one to encourage us. Anger becomes revenge; sadness becomes despair; temptation becomes sins, all because we had no one to listen, to correct, to pray for us. Fellowship with our Lord and each other is crucial to our everyday life, and it begins with us. We must choose not to isolate. We must choose to be someone else’s encourager. Today, find someone who encourages you and then go and encourage others.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I confess I have forsaken the encouragement of others. Help me not to isolate. Help me truly fellowship with other believers to be encouraged and then help me encourage others.
AMEN

You Are God’s Desire

TODAY’S VERSE
Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.
Ephesians 1:4-5 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
I am convinced, if we believed today’s verse with our whole heart, there would be no depression, no anxiety, no lasting emotional dysfunction. But it is hard to believe with a wounded heart. It is hard to stop and consider God’s love when we are in emotional pain. And so we go through life, like a person dying of poison, who has the antidote right in front of them but is too disoriented to take it. But please hear me; there is hope. I have found, with every person I have ever worked with, that there is a moment of clarity, where, if they listen, if they stop, if they consider the truth, it will set them free. And today, this is the truth about you – even before God made the world, He loved you! He decided long ago to make you His very own. Why? Because He wanted to! And even more, you bring God great pleasure! So today, rejoice. Embrace the truth; let it stir deep into your heart. You are God’s beloved. He has chosen to love you. And you, just as you are, bring Him great pleasure.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Oh, dear Jesus. Open my eyes. Help me see. Help me believe; help me know deep in my heart how much You love me. You love me, and loving me brings You great pleasure. Thank You for this wonderful truth. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Don’t Miss The Party

TODAY’S VERSE
“His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. “But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast, for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.’ So the party began.”
Luke 15:21-24 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Shame can keep us from the party. Jesus told a story about a young man who leaves home, disgracing his family and squandering all his inheritance. The young man ended up with no friends, no family, and no future. He is feeding pigs for a farmer and is tempted to eat the pig’s food. Full of shame, he decides to go home. In his shame, he rehearses his remorse to give to his father in the form of a speech. He heads home, but when his dad sees him way off in the distance, the father runs toward him. Now shame kept the son from running toward the father. Shame kept him from embracing him. Shame gave a speech of defeat and disownment. Had shame had its way, the son would have become a servant. But the grace of the Father gave the son a robe. Grace put a ring on his finger. Grace put sandals on his feet. Grace gave him back his honor again. Grace threw a party. The son could not refuse his father’s grace. Don’t let shame rob you of your Father’s grace. Every day God has a party just for you. Isn’t it time you went?

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your grace. Thank You for rejoicing over me. Forgive me for not celebrating. Forgive me for being so wrapped up in myself. Today, I accept Your loving grace and forgiveness. Today, I come to the party You are having for me.
AMEN

He Is Listening

TODAY’S VERSE
I love the LORD because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!
Psalms 116:1-2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There are a lot of reasons to love the Lord. But one that we often take for granted is His listening ear. The Psalmist wrote that he loved the Lord because God heard his voice and prayer for mercy. He painted a picture of God bending down to listen like an endearing grandfather does his grandchild. How we underestimate God’s loving attention. Studies have shown that shame in a young child is often related to the lack of response from their caregiver. The child made a bid for attention, and the caregiver paid no attention. The child’s conclusion is one of shame, “there must be something wrong with me.” Not so with God. When He hears our voice when He bends down to listen to our very whisper, how our soul responds in love. Today, spend time with God. He longs to hear your voice.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank you for being there when I pray. Thanks for Your loving attention to the needs of my heart. I love you, Lord.
AMEN
