New Reality

TODAY’S VERSE
Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.
I Corinthians 1:30 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is easy to miss the reality of what Christ has done for us. We get so caught up in our everyday living. Our habits, thoughts, emotions constantly remind us of our humanness. However, Paul shares that there is another reality. There is a new you! It was created in Christ when you were born again. Born again as in a “new” creature. So what is this new creature? It is royalty, a new child of God. Not made with flesh and blood like you were in your mother’s womb, but rather born again in the Spiritual realm. God took you, with your own self-will and sinfulness and made you right with Him. He created you this time, pure and holy and most of all He has freed you from the power of sin. It is hard to believe but you don’t have to strive to be right with God. You don’t have to earn God’s love. When Christ died on the Cross you received His free gift of salvation. He freed you from sin that very moment. He made you over again, pure and holy. He canceled all records of your wrongdoing and made you right with Him. Today, live in this freedom. Look into the mirror of God’s love and see what He sees.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your love and forgiveness. Thank You for freeing me from sin. Thank You for Your salvation and for making me pure and Holy in Your sight.
AMEN

Made For Joy

TODAY’S VERSE
Be glad in the LORD, you righteous ones, And give thanks to His holy name.
Psalms 97:12 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The Christian life was meant to be a life of joy. God created us for joy. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be pain or suffering. There will be, but like a child who cries when it hurts itself, soon returns to joy in the loving and compassionate understanding of its mother, we too find joy in the loving arms of our Father God. It is this relationship with our creator, this love bond that He puts in our hearts through the presence of the Holy Spirit that returns us again and again to joy. That is why David could say, “Be glad in the Lord.” It is the knowledge that God is glad to be with us, that we are loved beyond measure that allows us to come to His altar singing a song of thanksgiving. It is this relationship of complete forgiveness and unconditional love and acceptance by God that has us telling others of His wonders. So today, know that you have a God that loves you more than you will ever know. Bask in the warmth of this realization so when your way gets difficult and you experience deep pain, you will be able to experience God’s loving presence and return to the joy you were created for.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for creating me for joy. Thank You for Your unconditional love that fills my heart and causes me, no matter what, to return to joy over and over again.
AMEN

Blessing or Blesser?

TODAY’S VERSE
Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”’
Luke 17:17-19 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is so easy to seek the blessing more than the blesser. There were ten lepers all with the same putrefying disease. All with the same hopeless situation. Unless. Unless the Jesus that they heard about could really do miracles. Unless this Jesus was as compassionate as everyone said He was. They came to seek a blessing and as Jesus came down the road, a blessing they received. All ten were healed. But only one gave thanks to the blesser. He was the one that was touched in his body and his soul. He is the one that stopped to worship and give thanks. The nine came to get a blessing, the tenth met the blesser. How different are we? Is it possible that we have gotten so used to our faith that we are running on auto-pilot? We get our daily dose of blessing and go down the road as if nothing significant has happened. But let something go wrong. Then what do we scramble for? We cry out again like the leper for a blessing. But, it is not a blessing that we need. It is the blesser. It is Jesus, who loves us, that we need to seek. We need to come to Him and let Him know our situation and then commune with Him and let Him guide us. He is what our soul requires. Today, let us commit our situation to God and come to Him, seeking the blesser, not the blessing. He is the blessing.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me for being more worried about blessings than worship. Forgive me for taking You for granted. You are what my life needs. You are the blessing. Today, I choose to seek Your fellowship more than anything else. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

What Do You Really Need?

TODAY’S VERSE
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
II Corinthians 9:8 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Need. That is certainly a relative word. We have taken the word “need” and have turned it into everything from a wishlist to a whim. Larry Crabb addresses this in his book, “The Pressure’s Off.” He writes about what we really need. He writes, “Nothing wrong with desiring safe airplane flights and warm marriages and a decent income. But none of these things, none of our hopes for a “Better Life of Blessings”, represents God’s priority agenda – We need only to be safe from any power that opposes God’s agenda for our lives.” And what is that agenda that we need? Dr. Crabb shares three needs that God wants for us; radical forgiveness, supernatural love, and spiritual might. The good news is that God can grant you these needs. Through His grace, God provides all of the forgiveness, love and might you will need in order to be involved in His good work. Today lay aside those “other needs” that you think are so important and ask God to meet your real needs of forgiveness, love and spiritual might.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I need You and Your spiritual provisions of forgiveness, love and spiritual might more than anything else in the world. Help meet my real needs today. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Hungry?

TODAY’S VERSE
Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry.’
John 6:35 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever been hungry? Have you ever had a craving for a certain kind of food? Hunger is a tremendous human drive. Jesus said that He was the “bread of life” and if we believe in Him, we won’t be hungry again. But He wasn’t talking about alleviating our physical hunger. Instead, Jesus is talking about another kind of hunger; a hunger just as real. It is a spiritual hunger, a hunger of the soul. A hunger for love, inner peace, joy, and happiness. Jesus knows what will satisfy your deepest needs. Today, hear the words of Jesus, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry.” Come to Jesus. Feed on His teachings and the personal relationship that He offers to you. He is the only one that can truly satisfy the hunger of your soul.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for giving me a spiritual appetite. I really need You to feed my soul. I need Your bread of life to feed and nourish the deepest parts of me. I come to You now, dear Jesus. Feed me I pray.
AMEN

Working With God

Working With God

TODAY’S VERSE
Unless the LORD builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the LORD protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.
Psalms 127:1 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
God has created us to work in harmony with Him. We are at our best when we allow God to guide us and be Lord of whatever we do. Paul wrote, “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” The Psalmist suggests that making plans and working toward goals without God is foolishness. It is wasted. Instead, seeking God’s guidance, blessing and partnership on everything we do is the wise and prudent thing to do. How much of our lives will never reach their full potential because we do not let God work with us? Today seek God’s guidance, wisdom, and partnership in whatever you do.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, lead me, guide me, direct me in all I do today. Help me join You in Your work so what I do today will not be in vain, but for Your glory.
AMEN

Kindness

TODAY’S VERSE
But the fruit of the Spirit is – kindness
Galatians 5:22 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Kindness is not an option. It is not something we can decide to do only if it is convenient. It is evidence of the Holy Spirit alive in our life. Jesus instructed us to behave toward others in the same way we want them to behave toward us. When have we ever turned away kindness? Paul admonishes us to esteem others better than our self. Kindness is love in action. I have seen family members say they love each other, but don’t act kind toward each other. However, you can be kind to someone without loving them, but you can’t love someone and continually refuse to be kind to them. Today, purpose in your heart to be kind to those around you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, kindness can make such a difference in someone’s life. Help me today to be Your ambassador of kindness to all those I come in contact with.
AMEN

Forgiveness

TODAY’S VERSE
Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, ‘I will confess my rebellion to the LORD.’ And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.
Psalms 32:5 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What hope is found when we decide to stop doing something that is wrong. What peace is ours when we set out to make right those wrongs that we have committed. What joy we experience when we unburden our self of things that have held us prisoner in the dungeon of guilt. David paints the picture of inner turmoil and anguish we bring upon ourselves when we store the toxic emotions of a guilty conscience. He writes, “When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.” But later David writes, “Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!” Where there is pain, there can be joy. Where there is guilt, there can be forgiveness. Today, come to God with anything that is bothering your conscience. Don’t go another day without experiencing the joy from a heart forgiven.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for the substitute death of Christ for my sins. I know I can bring any of my wrongdoings to You for Your complete forgiveness. Lord, hear my prayers of repentance and restore joy deep into my soul.
AMEN

Comfort

TODAY’S VERSE
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
II Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
We all live with stress. There is pressure from all sides. Relationships, finances, health, how do we get any relief? Where can we go to get help? Paul knew. He wrote, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles.” Paul knew about God’s compassion. He also knew God’s comfort. Often it is hard to find comfort in difficult situations. Will God answer our prayer? Will we find the answer we seek? Will He act supernaturally on our behalf? We don’t know all the variables, we have a limited grasp of the situation and we can’t always explain the way things turn out, but we can count on one thing. God will comfort us! He will, in His great compassion, visit us and bring comfort to our heart that is supernatural. More than that, God will orchestrate many of His followers to comfort us as well. That is His plan. When we are comforted by His grace and mercy, God wants us to go and comfort others that He brings our way. We are to comfort others in the same way we were helped. Today, bring your burdens to the Lord. Let Him comfort you. And when He does, go with the same compassion He had and comfort someone else.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I pray that You, in all Your compassion, would comfort me in my struggles. And as You do, I ask that You bring people into my life that I could comfort in return. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Grace, Love, and Fellowship

TODAY’S VERSE
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
II Corinthians 13:13 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What a wonderful God we have. He could have set creation in motion and ignored the human species. He could have given up on mankind with all the rebellion and rejection we have given Him. Instead, God has made us the object of His affection, the crown jewels of His creation. And as a Triune God, He has purposely given us everything we need to have a relationship with Him. As God the Son, He has given us grace through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As God the Father, He is love, so He shares His own nature with us. As God the Spirit, He fellowships with us in a way that is compatible with the way we think and feel. Grace, love, and fellowship. Today, spend time with God and find out all He has for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, I thank You that You have manifested Yourself in ways that I can know and understand. Thank You for Your love, grace, and fellowship through Father, Son and Spirit.
AMEN
