Living For Jesus

TODAY’S VERSE
I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their thought. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.
John 17: 20-21 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
This was more than a prayer Jesus prayed. It was His mission statement. His goal was to spread the thought that there was a loving God that had salvation for all people, to all ends of the earth. He knew that this would only happen if we worked together. It is through the oneness of purpose and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit that we can spread His message to all the ends of the earth. In his book, “The Deeper Journey” M. Robert Mulholland Jr. writes, “Union with God results in our being a person through whom God’s presence touches the world with forgiving, cleansing, healing, liberating and transforming grace. – The world will not believe in Christ because of our sound theology, our correct Creed, our well-defined dogma, our rigorous religiosity. The world will believe when it sees Christlikeness manifested in our life.” Today, might we commit our self to be a more effective witness for Christ through our unity, faith, and love.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me live for You. Help me join other believers in a deeply loving relationship, so together, we will be a witness of Your love, grace, and truth.

Praise God

TODAY’S VERSE
Praise the LORD! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. Let us celebrate, let us rejoice, let us give him the glory!
Revelation 19:6-7 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
How excited are you about knowing God? You would think we would be ecstatic, but instead, our joy is minimal. I have seen sports fan get more excited about their teams winning a championship than most churches do during worship. This is because in reality most of us only know about God. Sure, we have asked Him to be our Savior, but we haven’t taken the time to really know Him. We know nothing of His power, wisdom or glory. How then can we say with John, “The Lord our God, the Almighty reigns”? If we are going to celebrate God, if we are going to rejoice because of Him, then we need to know God in a deep and personal way. This will only happen if we spend time in His presence. In His presence, He will reveal Himself to us. In His presence, we will learn of His power, wisdom and His glory. In His presence, we will learn to praise, celebrate and rejoice in Him. So today stop everything. Stop and for one moment become conscious of His presence and consider who He is. Sense that He is the Almighty one. Feel how worthy He is of all our praise. For just a moment consider how great He is and then know this; He loves you! The Almighty One loves you, so go ahead, celebrate, rejoice and give Him the glory!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me for not appreciating You enough. You are the Almighty One and You reign on high. I rejoice that I know You and come to You with joy and celebration. You are worthy of all my praise and I give You all the glory.

Praise God With Your Whole Heart

Praise God With Your Whole Heart

TODAY’S VERSE
Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise His Holy name.
Psalms 103:1

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is easy to live day by day and never really take the time to praise God. Part of this is due to the fact that we have relegated worship and praise to one hour a week. We have segmented our lives with spirituality being only a small part. Even when we do participate at church in corporate worship it is often just intellectual assent. The words barely sink in. It is not wholeheartedly. This is not the way God intended our worship to be. Instead, God wants us to praise Him with everything that is inside us. David wrote, “Let ALL that I am praise the Lord!” This includes our emotion, knowledge, and personality. He wants us to praise Him with our “whole” heart. It is not a “half-hearted” affair. God wants our all. Everything we are and hope to be. Today, praise God for all that He is. Praise Him for what He has done. Praise Him with everything you have, praise Him with your whole heart. Truly God is worthy!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come now to praise Your Holy name. I praise You for all that You are. I praise You from my whole heart. I sincerely love You and praise You with everything inside me. Praise You, Lord!

Are You Shining THe Light?

TODAY’S VERSE
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
Matthew 5:14-15

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What is the purpose of light? It is to invade the darkness. That’s right. We often fear that darkness is going to overcome us but the truth is darkness does not have power. It does not attack us. Darkness can only happen when there is an absence of light. So, what have we done with the light that God has given us? Do we put it on the hill so all can see? Do we go to the darkest places we can find and let the light of love and the gospel shine forth? No. Instead, we build our own islands of light, good for us but no others. We build our fortress in order to keep the darkness out when in truth there is enough light for everyone. We could prevent the darkness but we have hoarded the light. Might we hear God’s call – be GIVERS of the light! Rise up, use your spiritual gifts – give away the light – invade the world’s darkness. Today, give away hope, peace, love, joy, and God’s good news – GIVE AWAY THE LIGHT!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Oh, Father, Maker of Light, You have invaded my dark heart, but I am guilty of hoarding it. Forgive me. Help me to invade the darkness and give away Your light. Might all around be delivered from darkness!

His Love For You

TODAY’S VERSE
If God is for us, who can be against us? – Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? – For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:31, 35, 38 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
This is one of the greatest promises in the Bible. It is true for every child of God. Nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing can separate you from the love of God! You may feel like His love is distant, you may have doubts, you may be in circumstances where it seems like God is nowhere near, but the truth remains. His love is with you and He is conscious of you right this very moment! Stop and recognize His presence. Be still and know that He is your God.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Almighty God, my Heavenly Father. I renounce all negative beliefs that lead me to think that You do not care or have abandoned me. I pray that You will, this very moment, make me conscious of Your presence. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to really understand that nothing has or ever will separate me from Your love. Thank You for Your great love for me.

His Grace Is Sufficient

TODAY’S VERSE
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you.”
II Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Paul the Apostle was distraught. He had asked God three times to help alleviate a situation that was plaguing him. God did not alleviate the situation but God did promise Paul that, His grace was sufficient for him. Grace, what a word! It means God’s concern, His favor, His provision, His friendship, all this, without any merit on our own that would cause Him to act favorably toward us. It is from the depth of His unconditional love for us that He helps us in the inner person. He will do whatever it takes to get us through to the other side. His grace is sufficient for anything you bring to Him today. Will you accept it?

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, I come to You needy. Please make me conscious of Your grace to me today. I come with an empty cup and ask that You fill it today with Your grace. Let me drink of it. Let it go down deep into my soul until I can say with confidence, “Your grace is sufficient for me.” Thank you, Lord! In Jesus’ name.

What Are You Remembering?

TODAY’S VERSE
I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall. I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me. Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:19-23 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHTS
What we choose to dwell on impacts our thinking and eventually our actions. Jeremiah had plenty to lament about. God’s mission for him was difficult. He had to wander about the land with a thankless job. If he dwelled on it, he became bitter and downcast. But Jeremiah had a choice, he could also remember God’s faithfulness. When he did, it lifted his spirits. He learned the secret to abundant living. He discovered how to have hope. He decided to meditate on the fact that God was not finished with him yet! That God’s compassion toward him NEVER fails. He recalled how God’s compassionate thoughts toward him are new every morning. Jeremiah’s conclusion was that God’s faithfulness is indeed great! How about you? When you start your day, what do you think about? What do you remember? Is your soul downcast or are you excited about God’s love for you? Today, choose to dwell on God’s great compassion and let it give you the same hope that it gave Jeremiah.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, forgive me for dwelling on the negative. I stop now to give You thanks. Thank You that this morning You had compassionate thoughts about me. In fact, today, You are thinking tender thoughts about me. Help me really believe that. Let it shape my thoughts today. Thank You for Your great faithfulness. In Jesus’ name.

What Do You Want Jesus To Do For You?

Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Two blind men were on the side of the road and heard Jesus coming. They cried out for Jesus to stop and have mercy on them. The disciples tried to stop them but they cried out louder! Jesus saw their faith and earnestness and said, “What do you want me to do for you?” They said, “We want to see.” Jesus had compassion on them and gave them their sight. How excited do we get about Jesus? How eager do we desire to have Him walk our way? If Jesus asked you, “What do you want me to do for you?” What would your answer be? Today, stop and have a conversation with Jesus. Talk to Him about your needs. Cry out to Him. He is there. He will listen. What do you want Jesus to do?

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I come to You needy. I come to You crying out for Your mercy. Help me to know how to answer Your question, “What do you want me to do for you?” Heal my spiritual blindness and help me see that You desire to bless me. In Jesus’ name.

Take Comfort, Then Give It Away

TODAY’S VERSE
For when we came into Macedonia, this body of ours had no rest, but we were harassed at every turn—conflicts on the outside, fears within. But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus.
II Corinthians 7:5-6 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is hard to make it a week without feeling hassled. Frustrations, aggravations, conflicts, and temptations seem to be at every turn. Paul the Apostle certainly knew what it was like. Listen to his language: “harassed at every turn – conflicts on the outside and fears within.” And yet Paul shares with all confidence that he was comforted by God. In fact, he calls God the “God who comforts the downcast.” No matter what we go through, we can go through it knowing that God is committed to our comfort. He understands He cares, He comforts. And notice one of the ways God comforts. He uses people like you and me to comfort others. God used Titus to be a comfort to Paul. In fact, Paul also wrote, “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.” Today, be comforted by God. Let your soul be at peace. But don’t stop there. Go and help comfort someone else. Be a Titus to someone who is in desperate need of help.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, comfort my heart today. Might I find peace, joy, patience, and hope in Your love. Might I find all I need in the love You have for me. At the same time, Dear Father, help me comfort others in the same way You have comforted me.

Increase Your Inner Strength

TODAY’S VERSE
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.
Ephesians 3:16 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Two thousand years ago, Paul the Apostle prayed this prayer for the church in Ephesus. He prayed that God would use His mighty resources to strengthen them with POWER in their INNER BEING. Can you think of anything that we need more than that? All around us, there is strife, stress, conflicts, and confusion. We often find ourselves going up and down emotionally. It is easy to get sucked into this world’s problems and forget that there is a God who cares, who loves us and who can strengthen us. In order to make it in this world, we need a mighty reservoir of strength on the inside, where we really live. And how does God impart His strength into our life? Through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. According to Paul, it is the job of the Holy Spirit to give us the internal strength we need. This same Spirit that intercedes for us. This same Spirit that leads us into all truth. This same Spirit that is our comfort. The Holy Spirit will give us the strength we need on the inside. Ask Him to strengthen you with His power today.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Holy Spirit, I know You are real. You are our Holy God’s Spirit, that comes and takes residence in us upon our conversion. I confess I have ignored You. I repent and ask Your forgiveness. I ask You now, O Holy Spirit, to come in all Your power and give me strength today in my inner being. Might I live in the fullness of Your power even now. In Jesus’ name.
