He Will Intercede

TODAY’S VERSE
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
Romans 8:26 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Have you ever had anyone intercede for you? Sometimes when you are in a situation and because of the circumstances, someone else is a better choice to represent your needs. Perhaps a lawyer, customer service representative, a trusted friend or medical professional? When they are qualified and earnest, it is a beautiful thing to watch. And we need help. Here we are, trying to live our life, one person amongst billions of others. We have great needs but who will help us? Who can understand our plight? Who would care enough for us to do something? Who would have the power to effect any change? Paul tells us who. He writes, “The Spirit helps us in our weakness.” Thank God the Father for His Holy Spirit. He is the one who intercedes for our weaknesses and needs in this life. Even when we don’t know how to pray, the Holy Spirit passionately groans and pleads our case to God the Father. What compassion, what mercy. Even now come to the Holy Spirit with your hidden secrets, your most perplexing problems, your most heinous sins, your deepest need. When you do, He will intercede, and when He does, He will bring peace and deep joy to your heart.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Holy Spirit, I come to You just as I am, desperate and needy for Your touch. You know my situation. I need You to intercede for me to God the Father. To Him, who can do all things. To Him, who is all love and all power. Dear Holy Spirit, I give You control of my life. Guide me, direct me, fill me with Your peace and power. I pray this in Jesus’ name.
AMEN

I Can Only Imagine

TODAY’S VERSE
No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.
I Corinthians 2:9 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Whenever we moved, my wife and I always worked together on finding a house. However, when we moved to Georgia, I was out there for two months before her. My son came with me and we looked for homes. He found one on the MLS listing and went to meet the people. He called me at work and said that he found the house for us. He was right. It was love at first sight. It was rustic, in the woods and had a lot of potential. Of course, that meant it needed a lot of work. Somehow, though, I could see the finished home in my mind’s eye. I was really excited and sent my wife a rendering of what I proposed. I promised her that I would get the house fixed up. I kept my word. I put in trails, two ponds, bonus apartment, bird sanctuary, plumbing, electric work, deck, and new floors. I painted, cleaned and put in gardens. I have never enjoyed a project more. I really wanted my wife to love it like I did. Well, she fell in love with the house, too. Now imagine what Jesus feels like. He said that He went to prepare a place for us. And what a place it must be! Paul says that “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.” As the popular Christian song says, “I can only imagine!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Jesus, I thank You that You have gone on ahead to prepare a place in eternity for me. I cannot imagine what You must have in store. I only know that You love me and no one can even begin to conceive how great it will be to spend eternity with You. Let me live today with eternity in mind. Thank You, Lord Jesus. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

He Will Never Forget You

He Will Never Forget You

TODAY’S VERSE
Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.
Isaiah 49:15 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The union between a mother and her little child is incredible. I watched my daughter-in-law interact with our new six-week-old granddaughter, doting over her. It was so tender. Our granddaughter laid there wiggling, smiling, making funny faces and squealing. I love the squeals! What an illustration. Like a mother’s love, God’s love for you is born out of creating you. God has formed you and has a unique love for you. But that is where the comparisons between God and a mother end. You see, it is possible for a mother to neglect her child. Incomprehensible as it may seem, a mother may even abandon and forget her child. But not God! He promises; though a mother may forget her child, I WILL NEVER, NEVER, NEVER FORGET YOU. How can you be sure? He has engraved your name on His hands. He has etched you into the very flesh of His hands, a place He will never forget. Today, choose to rest in this truth; He knows your name, He loves you, He will never leave you or forsake you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me with my doubts, fears, and insecurities. Like a child, I reach out to You. Help me to see Your hands with my name, my very being, engraved in them. Thank You that I am safe in Your love. Thank You that You promised that You will never forget me, leave me or forsake me.
AMEN

He Is Here With Me

TODAY’S VERSE
I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!
Psalm 139:7 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
A friend of mine, Jim, had to go and see a potential employer. What could be wrong? He thought he had the job. Now what? He fretted all day and on his way to the plant, he remembered part of a doxology that he had come to love. It says, He (God) goes before you to show you the way. He thought to himself, “God is already there!” He received peace and everything worked out. A dear friend of mine, Pastor Howard Hoekstra has been saying the same doxology for over 30 years. It goes like this. “As you go forth from this place today, may you know that the living Christ goes with you. He goes before you to show you the way. Behind you to encourage you, alongside you to befriend you. He is above you to watch over you and, inside of you to give you His power, both now and forever more.” David knew the reality of God’s presence. He wrote, “If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.” The Apostle Paul wrote, “Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Today, what fears do you have? What is worrying you? Let us quit acting like God doesn’t know. He has gone before us. He is already there!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I am so thankful that nothing will ever separate me from You. No matter what my circumstance I thank You that You are already there.
AMEN

The Promised Land Is Waiting

TODAY’S VERSE
Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.” And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored.
Numbers 13:30-32 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Attitudes can change everything. You know the story. Moses sent spies into the promised land to see what it was like. All twelve men saw the same thing but came back with different conclusions. Two saw possibilities born out of faith and hope in God’s love and power. The others saw defeat, death, dying and doom. The people believed the second story. Why is that? Why can we believe the death, dying and doom story so much easier than the land of milk and honey? What is it that keeps us from believing in the goodness of God? We don’t doubt whether He can do good, we doubt whether He wants to. Dallas Willard in his book Hearing God shares why even the miracles of Jesus could not convince some people of His love and Lordship. Willard writes, “Our preexisting ideas and assumptions are precisely what determine what we can see, hear or otherwise observe.” You see Caleb’s report could not change what the people already believed in their heart. They did not believe that God loved them. Deep in their heart, they believed they were better off taking care of themselves. What do you believe? Seeing a miracle won’t change it. A good report won’t change that deep-down doubt. Only repentance and a relationship can. Repent of unbelief, doubt and fear and then time spent with God soaking in His love. Every day get to know Him until you sense His concern and His deep passion and love for you. Come to Him today, ask Him to show you His love. He will. The promised land is waiting.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Oh, Father, You know my heart. You know my doubts, fears, and negative thoughts. I have had them all my life. I repent, Lord. I want to believe. Help me correct my thinking. Help me know You more and more until my inner thoughts reflect the faith and love that You created me for. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

TODAY’S VERSE
The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.
Matthew 1:23

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The genius of Christmas is that God provided a way that we could be His children forever. He created us as human beings in His image. However, our own human nature with all of its imperfection separated us from God. But God has a glorious plan. At the right time God Himself manifested Himself in the person of Jesus, born in a manager, perfectly human, yet throughout His life, humanly perfect. It was God with us. He was the one who came to provide a way for us to become true children of God. It was His sacrifice at Calvary that made it possible for us to be born again and recipients of His Holy Spirit, truly God with us. As we celebrate Christmas let us thank Christ for coming and providing a way that we can be with Him forever. God with us so we can be with Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Christ, thank You for coming as a human being and ultimately that sacrifice for our sins so we could be born again into Your family. Thank for being with us so we can be with You forever.
AMEN

May God bless each of You. Merry Christmas
Ron Ovitt

Where Do You Go?

TODAY’S VERSE
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
Hebrews 4:16

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Where do you go when there is trouble? There are a lot of choices. You can run to your friends. Friends who listen and understand and help you when you need it are a true blessing. But not all of us have those kinds of friends. Sometimes it is easier for us to simply run away. This can be in many different forms. It can be procrastination, you know, where we will always get to some solution later. It could be an addiction, to simply anesthetize ourselves from the situation. It could be plain running full steam ahead, ignoring any problems, focusing on achievement or materialism. Yet, there is a better way. Today’s scripture gives us another option. One that makes good sense. The author of Hebrews writes, “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” You notice the verse doesn’t say to be timid. It says to “boldly” come to God. And what do we get when we find ourselves in His presence? Mercy and grace. Two of the most beautiful words in all of the Bible. Mercy, not giving us what we deserve. Grace giving us what we do not deserve. Thank God today that He has His mercy and grace available for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You that You have promised me that I can come boldly to You anytime – day or night. I can come boldly with my problems, my issues, my concerns and weaknesses. I come to You now, dear Father. Hear my needs, hear the deep inner thoughts and concerns of my heart. Please make me conscious of Your wonderful mercy and grace that You have promised to me. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Praise Him

TODAY’S VERSE
Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heaven! Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness! Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD! Praise the LORD!
Psalms 150:1-2, 6

TODAY’S THOUGHT
We often have so many pressing issues that it is easy to come to God and pour out our requests without saying anything of praise toward God. But when we forget to praise God, it is us who misses a blessing. It is ironic, we come to bless God with our praises and we are blessed in the process. Derek Prince once said, “If we only have ten minutes to pray, eight of them should be spent in praise!” There is so much we can praise God for today. Praise Him for His power. Praise Him for His glory. Praise Him for His provision. Praise Him for His love toward us. Praise Him for His death and resurrection. Praise Him for being our Almighty God. Who are we that God would allow us to even utter His name in praise, yet He does. He desires our praise and gratitude. Today, lift up your voice in praise to Him. Let everything that is in us, PRAISE THE LORD!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I confess I have not praised You as I should. I become so occupied with this life that You have given me. So busy that I forget to stop and thank You for all You have done for me. So busy that I forget to praise You for who You are. Today, I come to say, “Thank-you!” Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. Thank You for all Your provision. Thank You for loving me and taking care of me. I stop now to praise You for Your majesty and power, for Your Holiness and unfailing love. I love You, Father God, and praise You today in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
AMEN

Happy Thanksgiving

TODAY’S VERSE
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
I Thessalonians 5:18

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Paul tells us to “Be thankful in all circumstances.” Now if anyone ever did that it was Paul. He lived it. But the truth is, it is hard sometimes to give thanks. Sure when things are going great no problem. But when things are falling apart or holidays like this remind us of those who have passed on, how do we give thanks? The secret is in another passage of scripture that Paul wrote, this time to the Philippians. He wrote, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” How do we overcome? First, we stop worrying. Worrying never solved anything. It is a fixation on a future that is all in our mind. Second, we pray, we tell God all about our feelings, needs, and concerns. We share with Him our deepest needs. We look to Him like we would a compassionate Father who adores His children. Finally, we surrender and give thanks. We choose gratitude. We choose to thank God because He is worthy of all our thanks, all our praise, all our adoration. And something wonderful happens. We give Him thanks and He gives us joy. On this Thanksgiving, I encourage you to, “Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say REJOICE!”
Happy Thanksgiving

The Victory Is The Lords

TODAY’S VERSE
Perhaps the LORD will help us, for nothing can hinder the LORD. He can win a battle whether he has many warriors or only a few!
I Samuel 14:6

TODAY’S THOUGHT
We all have our wars to fight. Saul and his 600 men were trying to defeat the mighty Philistine army with thousands of soldiers. It was a bitter war. Saul and his 600 men were pinned down and trapped. Saul’s son, Jonathan, summoned his armor bearer and felt that they should go and fight the army. His famous battle cry was, “Perhaps the LORD will help us, for nothing can hinder the LORD. He can win a battle whether he has many warriors or only a few!” With faith, Jonathon and his armor bearer went to the Philistine outpost and took on twenty soldiers. Then something miraculous happened. The Philistines’ vast army in the camp became confused, panicked and afraid. God added an earthquake and all the army fled, being chased by the Israelites. In the midst of difficult times, we need to be reminded that, “Nothing can hinder the Lord.” When the odds seem overwhelmingly against us, we must remember, “He can win a battle whether he has many warriors or only a few!” Today, count on the Lord. Let Him help you in your own private conflict. He can win the battle!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, You know my personal battles. You know how overwhelmed I can get. Lord, I know that nothing can hinder You. You can indeed give me personal victory whether I have many resources or only a few! Today I submit myself and my situation to You and ask that You would provide for me in miraculous ways. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
