Integrity

TODAY’S VERSE
I will lead a life of integrity in my own home.
Psalms 101:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Why is it so hard to live out our Christian experience at home? We can be cooperative at work, a model Christian at church but have a tirade at home. It is so easy to take advantage of those we love. And temptations? At the end of the day, when our willpower is diminished, and we are crying out for comfort from an exhausting day, we can find our lust at its peak, addictions crying out, and moods shifting in a negative direction. But God desires integrity. Integrity is being honest with ourselves. It is deciding to do the next right thing, even at a personal cost. It is humbling ourselves and letting God do what He does best, change us. Today, let us decide to live a life of integrity where it counts the most, at home.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, save me from myself. Help me examine my life and make the necessary changes so I can lead a life of integrity in my home.
AMEN

We Need Revival

TODAY’S VERSE
Everyone was gripped with great wonder and awe, and they praised God, exclaiming, “We have seen amazing things today!”
Luke 5:26 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
When was the last time you saw the church grip people with great wonder and awe? We claim that we worship the Great Almighty God, yet what amazing, incredible, unbelievable testimony affects those around us? Are we beseeching the Heavens asking God to bring revival so His fame would be spread throughout the earth? Do people see us as those in love with Jesus, having our sins washed away and serving Him out of gratitude? Today, rejoice in your salvation. Marvel at His grace in your life and then tell others. Let them be gripped with great wonder and awe at a God who loves them and wants to make them His dear children. Then they, too, will say, “We have seen amazing things today.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for the great wonder and awe of Your grace in my life. Help me to share Your love with others. Move mightily among those I know that are far from you. Open their eyes, that they too would come to know You and taste Your amazing grace.
AMEN

Be Careful How You Live

TODAY’S VERSE
So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
Ephesians 5: 15-17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Today’s verse brings a whole new meaning to the phrase, “Think before you act.” Paul knew that our human nature left unattended can shipwreck our life. That is why he was careful to give us instructions on our thinking. Paul wrote that we need to be wise, not foolish, in our decisions. He emphasizes that we need to seek God’s will for our lives and make every effort to understand what He wants us to do. Paul then sums all this up, instructing us to be “filled with the Holy Spirit.” Being filled with the Spirit means to be under the control or total influence of the Holy Spirit. It is a Christian mindset that totally directs our life. So today, ask the Holy Spirit to fill you and live every moment for Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Help me understand Your will for my life so I can make the most of every opportunity to live for you.
AMEN

Plant In Good Soil

TODAY’S VERSE
The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow into maturity.
Luke 8:14 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Jesus told the parable about the farmer that planted some seed. Some of the seed fell on the footpath and the birds came and ate it. This represented Satan who comes and distracts and discourages us with doubts right from the start, stealing the seed that was planted. Some seed landed on stone. It sprouted fast because of the warmth and some moisture trapped in the rocks. Everything seemed right until the roots tried to grow. They couldn’t because the rocks were in the way. The rocks represented temptations that keep us from following Jesus. Perhaps the illustration that is most prevalent for us today is found in today’s verse. This is the seed that was cast into the weeds and thorns. The weeds represent the cares, riches and pleasures of this life that come and choke out our spiritual growth. How is the seed that was planted in your heart? Is it being nourished and cared for through prayer, the scriptures and a personal relationship with Christ? Today, examine your spiritual life. Get rid of anything that is impeding your growth and let the seed grow in the deep rich soil of your heart.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me for letting doubts, distractions, temptations and cares for this world impede my spiritual growth. Today I rededicate myself to You and open my heart to receive deep spiritual growth. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

God Cares

TODAY’S VERSE
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
I Peter 5:7 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It seems so counterintuitive. Give your worries and cares to someone else? That is precisely why you are worrying. You don’t have anyone to give your cares to! Who do you trust? Who can take all your cares, concerns, everything you worry about, and “Poof!” they’re gone? And yet Peter comes along and says that you can give all your worries and cares to God! More than that, Peter gives you two reasons why you can trust his advice. First, it is God he is talking about. It is nothing for Almighty God, the Master of the Universe, to handle your situations. But the second reason is just as convincing. Peter insists that you can bring your cares to God because He lovingly cares for you. What a glorious gift. What a tremendous blessing. So today, come to God and give Him all your worries and cares. He really does care for you!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father God, I come to You with all my cares. I bring all my worries to You. Today, I put my complete trust in You, because I believe You care for me.
AMEN

Everything I Do And Say

TODAY’S VERSE
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.
II Thessalonians 2:16-17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever felt alone? Were you ever discouraged and felt that there was no hope? Have you found yourself feeling helpless with your back against the wall? We all go through difficult times, and they can leave us vulnerable to lies about ourselves and situations. Thoughts that we are broken, damaged goods, no good. Beliefs that we are helpless, hopeless, and all alone are all lies that come when we are stressed. But Paul knew the truth and shared it with the early church. God has given it to you today. The truth is that our Lord God, the God who loves you and gives you hope, will comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say. So today, be encouraged by these words and live this day for Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for loving me and giving me hope. Today, please comfort and strengthen me in every good thing I do and say.
AMEN

What Do You Desire?

TODAY’S VERSE
I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised Him from the dead.
Philippians 3:10 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What do you aspire to? What desires do you have? It is an important question, but the answer is more important. The best desires are the ones that result in many benefits. What if you were granted a wish? Wouldn’t it make sense to ask for unlimited wishes? Paul’s desire was similar. He wanted something that would have a continuous impact on his life. He wanted to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised Him from the dead! He wrote, “Yes, everything else is worthless compared to the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake, I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with Him.”
Today, desire what can change and guide all of your life, knowing Christ and the His resurrection power.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, please help me. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised Him from the dead.
AMEN

What Controls You?

TODAY’S VERSE
Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.
Romans 6:16 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What are you a slave of? We don’t like to think of it that way. We pride ourselves on our freedom. We love our free will and the ability to choose what we want when we want. The world doesn’t control us; we just spend a lot of time behaving like it. However, truth be told, we become controlled by what we allow to influence us. We “live in the world” but if we are not careful, we will become “of the world.” There is a way out. We can choose to be controlled by God. We can obey His teaching with all our hearts. Paul wrote it this way, “Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you.” Today, choose God. Choose to obey Him with all your heart.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I have been controlled by so many things. Today I choose to obey You with my whole heart. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me live for You.
AMEN

Repentance

TODAY’S VERSE
Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight.
Psalms 51:4 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There is a difference between being sorry for my sins and repenting. Repenting is about God. Being sorry is about me. It is my pride that causes shame. What will people think? What will happen to me? Will I be rejected, abandoned, or forsaken because of what I did? This leads to embarrassment, humiliation, and fear. But David felt something else. He felt deep Holy remorse. He saw the true nature of his behavior. It was a sin against God. That insight led him to repentance. What freedom comes when I see my behavior as an offense against God. Why? Because He is the one who created me. He is the one who has paid for all my sins. He is the one who has been offended and the one who still loves me unconditionally. Today, when you think of your sins, look into His face. See Him. See His broken heart and then see the cross. That same heart is full of love and forgiveness for you. His love leads to true repentance.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me to see the true nature of my sin. It is against You that have I sinned. Thank You for Your love and complete forgiveness. Help me to live my life for You.
AMEN

These Things

TODAY’S VERSE
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?”
John 21:15 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Peter had been on quite a ride. He was a deeply devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He went with Jesus to the garden the night the Lord was betrayed and was shook to the core. Instead of rescuing Christ from the hands of those who sought to kill Him, he denied that he knew Jesus three times. This was after He told Christ, “Even if the others forsake you, I will not.” So His Lord gets crucified, and even though Jesus has risen from the dead, Peter is still perplexed. He tells the other disciples that he is going back to fishing. It was there, on the beach, that the resurrected Christ met Peter and lovingly asked him, “Do you love me more than these?” Jesus’ statement begs the question, “What exactly are the “these?” Some say it meant, “Do you love me more than the occupation of fishing and all that it brought with it?” Others say it meant, “Do you love me more than you love these other disciples?” Still, others say that the meaning was, “Even though you denied me after you said you would not, do you still think you love me more than the other disciples do?” I am not sure which interpretation makes the most sense. I only know that Jesus asks the same of you and me. What do we love? What stands in our way of completely and utterly surrendering ourselves to Him? What “these” do we wrestle with? Today, love Jesus. Come to Him, surrender, and let nothing stand between you and your utter devotion to Him. He is asking, what will your answer be?

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, I love You. Help me love You more, more than any “these things” that get in my way. Today, I commit my heart and my life to You.
AMEN
