I Will Be With You

TODAY’S VERSE
And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:20

TODAY’S THOUGHT
When God says, “I will be with you,” it is not a religious phrase; it is a reality that brings us comfort, strength, and hope. When there was a famine in the land, God told Isaac to stay in the land for “I will be with you.” When Jacob was in danger, God told him to return to his homeland and said, “I will be with you.” When God commissioned Moses to lead His people out of Egypt, Moses shared how he felt incompetent. God said to do it anyway because “I will be with you.” When God asked Joshua to take over for Moses and lead the people into the Promised Land, He told Joshua, “As I was with Moses, so I will be with you.” God asked Gideon to lead His people into battle, and Gideon was afraid and asked God, “How can I rescue Israel?” God said, “I will be with you.” When Jesus left earth to return to God’s right hand and commissioned the church to make disciples, He promised, “I will be with you always.” Life has its trials. God has commissioned you and me to serve Him. The tasks may be difficult. We may face trials, temptations, and struggles but take comfort in this; even today, God is with you. He will never, never, never leave you or forsake you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your ever-abiding presence. Thank You for the comfort I find in the fact that You are with me. Today, make me keenly aware that nothing can separate me from You. Help my heart be filled with faith that You will never leave or forsake me. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

You Are A Masterpiece

TODAY’S VERSE
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10

TODAY’S THOUGHT
For every truth, there is a lie waiting to deceive us. Why is it so much easier to believe a lie? Why can doubt have so much impact on belief? A million people can believe the truth, and yet one dissenter will get the nation’s attention. It is that way in the spiritual realm. Paul writes that we are significant. Specifically, “we are God’s masterpiece created to do the good things he planned for us to do” and yet, what do we believe? Don’t we often think we are no good, inferior, damaged goods, and even hopeless? Where did that come from? It didn’t come from God! If we want to change our beliefs, we must renounce the lies. Do it today. Lift up your heart and say it aloud, “I renounce the lie that I am no good, inferior, damaged goods, or hopeless.” My friend, it is time to believe the truth about yourself. You are significant. You are a masterpiece made by God Himself. He absolutely loves you and desires you to accept the love He has for you. Today renounce the lies about yourself and pronounce the truth that “I am God’s masterpiece!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, my Father. I confess I have believed lies about myself. I renounce these negative thoughts and feelings and command their power over me to be broken in the precious name of Jesus Christ! I choose to accept the truth that You personally created me as a masterpiece to do the good things You have sent me here for. Thank you, dear Father, for giving me significance. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Cry Out To God

TODAY’S VERSE
Listen to my prayer for mercy as I cry out to you for help, as I lift my hands toward your holy sanctuary. – Praise the LORD! For he has heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
Psalms 28:2, 7-8

TODAY’S THOUGHT
David knew what it was like to be tormented. He knew the pain that comes with great need. He experienced difficulties that had no escape except by the mercy of an Almighty God. So David cried out to God for help. As David cried out to God, the Lord strengthened and protected him. David trusted God with all his heart, resulting in deep spiritual joy. You see, God did not take David out of his situation. David still faced his problems, but instead of facing his situation alone, he turned to God for strength. God protected David like a shield. Do you have a story similar to David’s? Are there times you need to cry out to God for His mercy? Rest assured, He hears you. You, too, can end up praising God, for He promises He will be your strength. He will be your shield. You can trust Him with your situation. When you do, you will experience the profound joy that can only come from God.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come to You today asking for Your mercy in my life. Thank You for hearing my cry and offering to be my strength and shield. I accept this promise and put all my trust in You. Thank You that I will not be disappointed. Fill my heart with a deep joy today so I, too will burst out with thanksgiving. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

The Gifts

TODAY’S VERSE
I will ask the Father, and he will give you another counselor, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.
John 14:16

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Can you imagine someone knocking on your door and giving you a hundred-million-dollar check? Think of all you could do with that. How tragic would it be if you thanked the person, closed the door, put the check on your dresser top, and never used it? Never helped anyone, never bettered your situation. Instead, you live a meager existence, paycheck to paycheck, and die a pauper. We would shake our heads and mutter, “What a shame to waste such a resource.” And yet, what must God the Father think of what we have done with the precious gift of His Holy Spirit? Jesus asked the Father to give us a counselor who will never leave us and lead us into all truth, and He has. When we became a child of God, you and I received His Holy Spirit into our lives, and yet we barely know this third part of the Trinity. When have we ever asked the Holy Spirit to fill, guide, or lead us into truth? We have been given spiritual gifts, but do we know what they are or how they work? How much time have we spent contemplating how to cultivate the “fruit of the Spirit” in our life? God has indwelled us with the person of the Holy Spirit. Might we seek to understand more about this treasure that God has given us.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Forgive me for not knowing more about Him. Forgive me for not living in His power. Oh, Holy Spirit, I ask that you would make me conscious of your presence in my life. Teach, guide, fill, and lead me into all truth. I give You control of my life and pray that You would produce Your fruit in my life and activate the spiritual gifts that You have given me. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Give God Back Your Future

TODAY’S VERSE
But I am trusting you, O LORD, saying, “You are my God! My future is in your hands.”
Psalms 31:14-15

TODAY’S THOUGHT
How much of our present is influenced by the fear of our future? What will people think of us? What will people say? Have you ever stopped to realize how many times a day you say, “What if?” It is not harmful to stop and consider the consequences. Jesus, Himself said if we were going to war, we would need first to consider the size of the enemy’s army to see if we could win. Yes, strategy is good, but not to the point that it takes the place of trusting God. David told God, “I am trusting You, O Lord.” He then followed it with a strong affirmation of God’s love and power. He wrote, “My future is in your hands.” How about you? Where is your trust today? Do you say you trust God but spend time worrying about your future as if God did not exist? If so, surrender to Him. Make Him the Lord of your today and tomorrow. Like David, put your future in God’s hands. It’s the best place to put it.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I thank you that I can come to you with my future. Please guide me, comfort me, and direct my every step. I renounce fear and pray that Your Holy Spirit will help me live this day with faith, hope, and love. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Your Heart’s Desire

TODAY’S VERSE
May he grant your heart’s desires and make all your plans succeed.
Psalms 20:4

TODAY’S THOUGHT
At first glance, this verse sounds like it came straight from a Chinese Fortune Cookie. You read it and think, “Did I see this on a success motivation poster?” But then, if you take the time to remember that this is God’s word, you start to meditate on this phrase and find it full of deep meaning. I stop to think about the responsibility this verse puts on me as a person who dreams and has desires. When was the last time I desired a God-sized desire? What have I expected that would be worthy of God’s consideration, let alone His blessing? What do I want to see happen that would possibly be aligned with the will of God? More than desire, what have I spent time on and planned for the Kingdom of God? What success am I asking for that would be worthy of God’s favor? Finally, who will get the glory if my desires come true and my plans succeed? God put you and me here to live for Him. He wants us to use our hearts to desire tremendous and mighty things for Him. We are His ambassadors, and He chooses to live His will through our lives. Let us desire and plan great and mighty things for His Glory.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, birth in my heart a desire to do Your will with my life. Please give me a dream; give me a passion. And then, Father, help these desires, passions, and dreams turn into a plan. Might the plan become a reality through Your mighty power and for Your Glory and honor. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Lead Me

TODAY’S VERSE
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
Proverb 3:5-6

TODAY’S THOUGHT
When I was trained in wilderness school, the goal was to teach us to be a good guide. They took us on courses and training where our lives were literally in the hand of the person leading us. The training guide knew where we were and how to get us where we were going. The guide knew the terrain and how to survive in every condition. A wilderness is a wild and unpredictable environment; a good guide will get you through it. We need a guide to get us through the mountains and valleys of this life. We need a guide to lead us through the difficult times when we seem lost, and all is hopeless. Solomon says, “Trust in the Lord with all our heart and He will direct our path.” More specifically, Jesus promised He will give us the Holy Spirit to guide us. God, through the Holy Spirit, will lead us into all truth. And in the wilderness, truth is king! There is no room for error; you need the truth to guide you every step of the way. So, where are you today? Where are you going? How will you get there? You need the Holy Spirit to be your guide. Proverbs warn us not to lean on our understanding; instead, we need to acknowledge our need for God. Come to God today and ask Him to lead you. Surrender to His guidance and let Him direct your paths. Might the verse of an old Sunday School song be your prayer today, “My God knows the way through the wilderness, all I have to do is follow.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, You know how I need You to direct my path today. I can’t do it by myself. I surrender to You and ask that You would lead me through the power of Your Holy Spirit. Guide me, direct me, lead me this day. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Real Trust

TODAY’S VERSE
But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
Jeremiah 17:7

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is one thing to say we trust someone; it is another to put confidence in them. A famous tightrope walker was going to cross Niagara Falls with a person in a wheelbarrow. He asked the crowd watching, “How many think I can make it with a person in the wheelbarrow to the other side?” Most of the people raised their hands. Then he said, “Who will sit in the wheelbarrow?” Oddly enough, no one volunteered. How often has God told us, “How many believe I can supply all your needs?” “How many think I love you and will help you overcome your struggles?” We quickly raise our hand and say, “Yes, Lord, I believe.” But when struggles come, when doubt raises its head, when God brings the wheelbarrow and says, “Jump in,” we slither to the back of the crowd. Genuine trust and true faith is acted out in hope and confidence. Might you go forth this day trusting God. Might you have all the faith you need to sit in the wheelbarrow. If anyone can get you to the other side, it is God your Father.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me put my faith in You. Help me trust You, really trust You. Help me have real confidence in Your resurrection power and hope in Your undying love for me. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

I Cannot See

TODAY’S VERSE
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
II Corinthians 12:9

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Sometimes we have to step out in faith. Sight is not an option. We can’t see a way out. We don’t know which way to go. Everything is cloudy. We are so tired, weary, and confused we have nowhere to go. But then grace appears. Not any grace, God’s sufficient grace. Grace to help you trust Him. Grace to give you courage. Grace to give you hope. Grace to provide you with wisdom. Grace to help you hold on when you think your strength is gone. Grace to go to bed and get up to face another day. Grace to let God be God. Jesus said blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe! The author of Hebrews writes that faith is the evidence of things not seen. So get up, lift your hands, and give whatever you cannot see to Jesus. He promises that His grace is sufficient for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come to You in my weakness. I cannot see. I have no answers. All I have is Your grace, and You promised that will be sufficient. You promised if I believe when I cannot see, I will be blessed. So I bow to You. I place my heart at Your feet. You are my Lord, and I will follow You. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

God Knows My Needs

TODAY’S VERSE
Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Matthew 6:32-33

TODAY’S THOUGHT
We can complicate life, can’t we? There are so many demands on our life. We think we must do so many things we have lost sight of what is essential. Jesus would say to us, “Stop filling your life with so many other things and let Me fulfill your real need.” You see, Jesus knows what satisfies and offers it to all His followers. He said, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” The real secret to this life is to live in His Kingdom instead of our own. We need to live in this world with heaven’s priority. God loves you. Trust Him, live for Him, and He promises He will give you everything you need.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, You know my name. You know who I am. You also know my needs. Thank You for Your promise that if I seek Your Kingdom above everything else, You will give me everything I need. So I come to You now, Father, and ask that You help me live for You. I entrust my needs to You. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
