Holy Spirit

TODAY’S VERSE
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
Romans 8:26 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever groaned for someone? I think of the times I have interceded with God for my children. I was so concerned and deeply moved that I would literally groan my requests to God. I was praying with deep intent and emotion. I was interceding out of love and concern. I was praying from the heart. However, this is just a small measure of how the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. Paul shares that the Holy Spirit helps us with our weaknesses by interceding with God in ways we will never know about. His groaning on our behalf is so intense that it cannot be expressed in human language. What concern, what love, what power the Holy Spirit expresses to God the Father for us? Today, join the Holy Spirit in His intercession for you. Tell Him your concerns. Share with Him your needs, and your deepest longings. Then take comfort knowing that the Holy Spirit is interceding on your behalf.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Thank You that even when I don’t know how to pray, Your Spirit intercedes for me. Bless You, Lord, for Your deep love and concern for me.
AMEN

Where Are You Walking?

TODAY’S VERSE
And so I walk in the LORD’s presence as I live here on earth!
Psalms 116:9

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Where are you walking? It is easy to walk and not be conscious of where we are. I was hiking on a mountain trail in a dark green lush forest. It was a beautiful sunny day, and yet as the afternoon set in, it suddenly dawned on me that I spent most of my time looking down at the trail, watching out for roots, rocks, and snakes, trying to forge ahead and make my destination. We have a negativity bias. I never looked up at the trees or saw all the beautiful panoramic views of the valley below. I missed a whole day of breathtaking scenery because of my preoccupation with potential dangers in the trail in front of me. Our God is magnificent. His love is unfathomable. And yet, if we are not careful, we will find ourselves walking through this life worried about everything, never really aware of His loving and protective presence. Today, let’s make a conscious effort, like the Psalmist, to walk in the Lord’s presence as we live here on earth!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I am so sorry for missing so much of your love. I have not been consciously aware of your grace and Glory because I have been preoccupied with a negativity bias. I forgot that you love me and will protect me. You are the true source of joy, love, and life itself. Today, Lord, I come back. I want to walk the trail with you, fully conscious of Your presence. Oh, Holy Spirit, help me to that end, I pray.
AMEN

Life and Peace

TODAY’S VERSE
Letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
Romans 8:6 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What controls you? We have deep needs to belong, be loved, understood, secure, and have purpose and meaning. Unfulfilled, our emotions and passions control us. We try our way to meet these deep needs but to no avail. Unfortunately, we will never find what we need in success, fame, fortune, or other worldly pursuits. Instead, the Apostle Paul tells us how to meet the core longings of our hearts. It is through a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. When we become a Christian, God’s Holy Spirit invades our life, leading us and guiding us in a new direction. It is a Spiritual journey, and when we let God control our minds through the Holy Spirit, the result is life and peace. Today, let God meet your needs. Submit to Him and let His word and the Holy Spirit control your mind.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for the Holy Spirit. Take control of my heart and mind. Help all my deep longings be found in You. I give you myself; give me Your life and peace. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

No Fear

TODAY’S VERSE
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear.
I John 4:18 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Fear comes in many forms. Anxiety, panic, and obsessions, but one that often surprises us is worry. Somehow we feel worry is justified. We believe we can extinguish our fears with control, perfection, and the drive to make everything safe. However, worry is based on fear and, so often, the fear of things that will never happen. We never really conquer our anxiety. That is why we need love. Love in the form of acceptance, security, purpose, and protection conquers our need for control. Given unconditionally, love can take fear and obliterate it. This is the love God offers you. His love is pure. It is unfailing, everlasting and unconditional. Come to God today, receive His love and let your fear be driven away.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You that I can bring all my concerns to You. Thank You for giving me Your great love and casting out all my fears!
AMEN

Choose Wisely

TODAY’S VERSE
I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow.
Isaiah 48:17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What a promise. God Almighty says He wants to teach you what is good for you and lead you in the way you should go. However, in the following sentence, God says, “Oh, that you had listened to my commands!” You can hear the disappointment in God’s voice. They ignored the His teachings and did not follow Gods’s path. Think of all the heartache, regret, and missed opportunities, they suffered because they ignored the Lord’s instruction. Today, you have a choice. You can choose to listen to the Lord’s teaching and follow His path, or you can choose to ignore His commands. Choose wisely.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, thank You for teaching me what is good. Thank You for leading me along the paths I should go. Help me to continually choose to follow You.
AMEN

I AM

TODAY’S VERSE
God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.”
Exodus 3:14 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The stage was set. Moses was standing in front of a burning bush that was not being consumed. A voice said, “Take off your shoes for this is Holy Ground.” Then God revealed Himself to Moses. God wanted to go to Pharoah and ask him to release all the Jews from slavery. Moses doubted whether the people would accept him as a leader, so he asked God, “Who can I say sent me?” God said to tell them, “I Am sent you.” “I Am who I Am.” I AM! It says it all! He is before all things, below all things, above all things, after all things. God is the strong one, creator, Most High, Father, King of Kings, the Way the Truth and the Life, Love, Holy One of Israel, Great Shepherd, Alpha and Omega, our healer, Redeemer, Savior, and protector. Today you are on Holy ground. This same great and mighty “I AM” loves you. Stop and worship Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Holy One. Who am I that You would love me and allow me to know You, You the Great I AM? How I love You. How I worship You. How I Praise You, my dear and precious Lord.
AMEN

Encouragement

TODAY’S VERSE
But God, who encourages those who are discouraged, encouraged us.
II Corinthians 7:6 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
We all need encouragement. With all the pressure and stress we live under, it is easy to become frustrated, disillusioned, and discouraged. But most of our discouragement comes from a mindset that does not include God with all His love and power. God makes all the difference in the world. Today include God in your plans. Speak to Him about your frustrations and disappointments. Bring Him all your needs. Ask Him for wisdom and discernment. As you do, you can say with Paul, “God, who encourages those who are discouraged, encouraged me.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Oh Lord, remind me of Your love for me. Help me to understand Your power. Help me to lean on You and not my understanding. Here is my heart; encourage me, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

You Can Come Boldly

TODAY’S VERSE
This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
Hebrews 4:15-16 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
How many times do you need mercy and grace in your life? It is so good to know that God knows all about your weaknesses. He empathizes with your situation. Jesus overcame temptation and the trials that test your soul. Because of His great love for you, He bids you to come to Him with boldness. Come into His throne room and receive all the mercy and grace you will ever need. Today, don’t let anything stop you. He loves you, and He knows you. Come and let Him know your needs.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, I am so thankful that You understand my weaknesses. I bring them to You and ask for Your grace and mercy to forgive me and help me live for You.
AMEN

Don’t Lose Heart

TODAY’S VERSE
My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.
Psalms 73:26 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is easy to grow weary and lose heart. Paul knew this. He openly discussed his hardships in the ministry. But he also knew the cure for weariness. It was God. God gives us the ability to press on. Even in all his struggles, Paul wrote, “We do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” Paul again shared, “And let us not lose heart and grow weary for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” The Psalmist, centuries before, said the same thing. He wrote, “My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart.” Today come to God with your weariness. Resolve never to give up and lose heart. Let Him be your strength.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, protect my heart. Be my strength and help me overcome my weariness.
AMEN

Faith

TODAY’S VERSE
Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
Hebrews 11:1 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
One of the hardest parts of following Christ is exercising our faith. It was hard for the disciples, and they lived with Jesus! He had just finished feeding the 5,000 people and told the disciples to take the boat across the lake. There was a big storm, and they were afraid. When Jesus came walking on the water toward them at 3:00 in the morning, they were terrified. St. Mark writes, “Then Jesus climbed into the boat, and the wind stopped. They were totally amazed, for they still didn’t understand the significance of the miracle of the loaves. Their hearts were too hard to take it in.” According to the author of Hebrews, “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” This is more than optimism. Faith is the confident belief in the trustworthiness of our Lord. We can have optimism because of our faith. But we exercise faith in God, even when things don’t seem optimistic. Today put your faith in the loving trustworthiness of our Lord.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, forgive me for my lack of faith. Help me to see through Your eyes and put my faith and confidence in Your trustworthiness.
AMEN
