Seek The Lord’s Guidance

TODAY’S VERSE
Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the LORD for guidance.
II Chronicles 20:3

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What do you do when you are terrified? It is easy to panic, fret, and withdraw. King Jehoshaphat was told that three different armies joined together to take siege of Jerusalem. The Bible says he was terrified. But instead of running, he decided to seek the Lord. He prayed, “O LORD, God of our ancestors, you alone are the God who is in heaven. You are ruler of all the kingdoms of the earth. You are powerful and mighty; no one can stand against you! – Whenever we are faced with any calamity such as war, plague, or famine, we can come to stand in your presence before this Temple where your name is honored. We can cry out to you to save us, and you will hear us and rescue us.” This reminds me of another verse, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding, in all your way submit to Him and He will direct your path.” Today, no matter what your circumstance, seek the Lord’s guidance.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, You are aware of all my circumstances. There is nothing that surprises You or can separate me from Your love. Therefore I come to You with all worries and seek Your wisdom and direction. In Jesus name.
AMEN

His Presence

TODAY’S VERSE
Let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him.
Hebrews 10:22 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Today’s verse is amazing. It is mind-boggling! God has made a way that we can go right into His very presence and fellowship with Him. What a marvelous plan. A Holy and Just God, who creates us as human beings with all our imperfections, sin, and outright rebellion, also makes a way, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, that we can come into His presence and have intimate fellowship with Him. He writes, “We can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.” Read it again. Not just enter, but boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place. Today, you have been invited. You have an open invitation to visit the MOST Holy Place. You, today, can go right into the very presence of God, fully trusting that He wants you there.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for making a way that I can go right into Your presence. Thank You that I can fully trust that You want me there. I come now; make me conscious of Your very presence, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

All I Really Want

TODAY’S VERSE
Then I pray to you, O LORD. I say, “You are my place of refuge. You are all I really want in life.”
Psalms 142:5 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It’s not just what you pray that counts. The reason you pray is just as important. God loves you and knows your need before you pray. Listen to David’s despair and emotion when he prayed today’s verse. He was hiding in a cave and wrote, “I cry out to the LORD; I plead for the LORD’s mercy. I pour out my complaints before him and tell him all my troubles. I look for someone to come and help me, but no one gives me a passing thought!” God heard more than David’s words. He felt David’s needs, and David knew it. That is why David could write, “You are my place of refuge. You are all I really want in life.” The question is, “What do you want?” Today, know that God is your place of refuge. He knows your circumstance; turn to Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I sometimes feel like no one gives me a passing thought. I start to despair, but You gently bid me come, and I come to You. Truly, You are my refuge. Today, I can say, “You are all I really want in life.”
AMEN

Empower Me

TODAY’S VERSE
I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.
Ephesians 1:19-20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
How sad to be an incredible painter and never use a brush. To have a high IQ and never go to college. To be rich and die on the streets as a homeless person. Yet Paul was concerned that we would be Christian and never understand and avail ourselves of the power for living we have in Christ. Listen to what he wrote in his letter to the Ephesians. “I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Today, ask God to open your understanding to all the power He has for your life. Don’t let it go to waste.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I confess, I know nothing of the incredible power You have for my life. I pray, open my understanding. Help me to know and experience Your power in my life. Empower me, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Make It A Good Morning

TODAY’S VERSE
Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you.
Psalms 143:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What do you wake up to in the morning? I remember a period in my life when depression and anxiety had me in their grip. I would dread the morning. I would have to fight not to wake to a panic attack. It got so bad that I didn’t want to sleep at night because I knew I would wake up again. But the Lord was faithful. I would go to bed by faith and prep myself to get up and run to Him in prayer and meditation. I learned that from David. Earlier in this passage, David wrote, “I am losing all hope; I am paralyzed with fear. – Come quickly, LORD, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don’t turn away from me.” Then he shared, “Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you.” My friend, it was true for David, it was true for me, it is true for you. Today, listen to God’s unfailing love for you. You can trust Him; go in peace.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, let me hear of Your unfailing love, let me sense that it true, help me believe it with all my heart, for I am trusting you.
AMEN

Dare To Hope

TODAY’S VERSE
I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope
Lamentations 3:20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The scriptures share that the Lord allows the rain to fall on the “just and the unjust.” Sadness happens. We all have grief to bear. We all have a story. Today’s verse shares Jeremiah’s lament over the capture and exile of Israel. He will never forget how awful the capture was and the horrible grief over losing their homes, family, and the life they lived. Yet Jeremiah dared to hope. And his hope is our hope. Listen to what he writes, “Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning.” Today, you have hope. God’s faithfulness to you is great. Every day His mercies begin all over. You will have what you need today because His love for you never ends, and His mercy will never cease.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I come to You with my grief and concerns. I lean into You for Your unfailing love and Your never-ending mercy. I praise You for great is Your faithfulness to me.
AMEN

We Are Not Hopeless

TODAY’S VERSE
LORD, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.
Psalms 10:17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
When are you helpless but not hopeless? When you trust God. No more than a young child is hopeless when their parent stands nearby. The Psalmist assures us that the Lord hears our cries and comforts us. There may be areas in your life that leave you seemingly helpless. There appears to be no answer, no solution but remember, even when we seem helpless, we are not hopeless. Today, bring your situation to Christ. He knows your plight. He loves you with unfailing love. He hears you and will comfort your heart. Remember, the Lord knows the hopes of the helpless.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father. Thank You that You never leave me hopeless. You know me. You love me. You hear my cries, and today I hope in You. Come, dear Lord, comfort me, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

He Knows

TODAY’S VERSE
You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh.
Psalms 38:9 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Things don’t always turn out the way we hope. In today’s passage, David was journaling about his struggles. Lamenting over all his emotional strife, in the middle of the passage, David reassured himself with the thought that the Lord knew his longings and heard even his faintest sigh. Likewise, when the Prophet Isaiah had deep concerns and things did not turn out the way he thought they should, he wrote, “my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the LORD.’” However, like David, Isaiah was confident that God was aware of his situation. He wrote, “Listen! The LORD’s arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call.” Today you can listen to both David and Isaiah and believe the same thing. You can know that even if things are not how you think they should be, even if there is strife all around you, the Lord knows what you are longing for. He hears your sighs and is never too weak to save you!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, forgive me for my doubts. I know You hear my sigh. I know that You love me. Today, I put all my trust into Your loving hands. You are my Lord and Savior, and I commit myself to you.
AMEN

Don’t Be Afraid; He Is Here

TODAY’S VERSE
Don’t be afraid. I am here!
John 6:20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The disciples had just witnessed the feeding of 5,000 people from a few fish and loaves of bread. What a miraculous event! That same evening they got into their boat and headed across the lake toward Capernaum. When they were out on the lake, a fierce gale swept down upon them. All of a sudden they saw Jesus walking on the water toward the boat. The Bible says that they were terrified. But the great news is that Jesus, knowing their fear, said, “Don’t be afraid. I am here!” Immediately they were comforted and welcomed Him into the boat. And then the miracle happened. The boat was immediately transported to the shore! What storm are you in? What struggles do you have? Jesus still walks upon the water. He will meet you in the midst of your storm. All you need to do is let Him in the boat.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, thank You for meeting me in my storms. Thank You for walking toward me. Today, I hear You say, “Don’t be afraid, I am here!” Jesus, I hear You. I trust You. Make me conscious of Your presence.
AMEN

Share Your Hope

TODAY’S VERSE
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
I Peter 3:15 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Hope is looking at circumstances with desire, belief, and trust. It is having confidence in what you believe is going to happen, will happen.
The Bible is full of hope. Hope for God’s goodness. Hope in God’s love and mighty power. Hope in our eternal life with Him. We are to live in God’s glorious hope. And if we do, it makes sense that others would want to know about it. That is why Peter said we should always be ready to give the reason for our hope to everyone who asks about it. However, this begs the question, “Is anyone asking us about our hope?” If not, perhaps it does not show. The truth is many who believe in Christ live their lives no different than those who don’t. Today, let us examine our hearts. Are we hopeful? Are we full of desire, trust, and anticipation of what God will do today? If not, let’s repent. Today, ask God to fill your very being with hope so that others will ask you about it, and you can tell them the good news of Jesus.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me for complaining, worrying, and the lack of hope I so often display. Fill my heart with hope today, so I can be a witness, and others would want to know more about You.
AMEN
