More Than A Conqueror

TODAY’S VERSE
In all things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Romans 8:37 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Life can get hard. There are so many days that I wake up, and I can hardly conquer brushing my teeth, let alone all the battles I have lined up for the day. How can I possibly win the difficulties I am facing? And yet Paul writes, “Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?” Paul answers, “No, despite all these things.” What things? Despite all these struggles and difficulties, we go through. Despite all that, life can dish out. Paul assures us, “in all things; we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Yes, we are more than getting a victory, more than being a conqueror, we are His loved child no matter what the circumstances! Today, when problems come up, when it seems that everything is going wrong, remember that Christ has given you everything you need to be more than a conqueror. He has called you to be His beloved child, an heir with Christ, set free with His blood and given power by His resurrection

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for making me more than a conqueror over all the difficulties I go through. Thank You for loving me and giving me everything I need to live for You. Help me believe this Father and live in its reality today.

But God

TODAY’S VERSE
We faced conflict from every direction, with battles on the outside and fear on the inside. But God, who encourages those who are discouraged, encouraged us.
II Corinthians 7:5-6 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Two words. Two words that can turn everything around. Two words that make all the difference in the world. Two words, that are available to us at any time. Paul is beside himself so he writes, “We faced conflict from every direction, with battles on the outside and fear on the inside.” He paints a bleak picture, with seemingly no hope, and then he writes two words, “but God.” All would have been lost, “but God.” There would have been no hope, “but God.” There is nothing that could be done, “but God.” It was God. The God who encourages those who are discouraged encouraged him. And He will do the same for us. Today, let God be the difference. Let God give you all the encouragement you need. Let God be God in your life.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, you know all about me. You are the one that makes all the difference in my life. Thank You for being the God of all encouragement. Encourage my heart today.

Trust God With Your Life

TODAY’S VERSE
O LORD, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God!
Psalms 25:1-2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Jesus has called us to follow Him. More than church attendance and weekly worship, Jesus wants us to be His disciples. David knew what this meant. He came to Jehovah God and said. “O Lord, I give my life to you.” God would ask the same of us. And it takes faith. We are choosing to take the only life we have and say, “Here, God, I know You gave me this life, so I am giving it back, trusting that You have a plan for me. You know best, and I trust You.” That is what David did. God is asking the same of you. Today, trust Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I choose to give my life to You. I want You to be the Lord of all I am and do. I trust You, Lord, and Your unconditional love for me.

Thanks

TODAY’S VERSE
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!
Psalms 100:4 (ESV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is easier to give thanks to God when everything is going well than it is when we have conflict and trouble in our life. When there is sickness, discouragement, failure, misunderstandings; when all seems to be lost, how can we give thanks? From a human viewpoint, we experience anxiety, depression or despair. However, knowing Jesus we are blessed with a Heavenly vantage. Paul says it this way, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Paul saw through the filter of God’s power, grace, mercy, peace, and love. The Psalmist invites us to have an ever-present attitude of praise. He said to enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. And so today, with all there is to worry about, with all your needs, frustrations and concerns, turn to God. And as you do, give Him thanks and praise because He cares for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I give You thanks for who You are. I give You thanks for Your grace, mercy, peace, and love in my life. I give You thanks for making me Your child and promising to never leave me or forsake me. I praise You and thank You in Jesus’ name.

Alive

TODAY’S VERSE
The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Genesis 2:7 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
When asked, a group of people who suffered from addictions answered what they “felt” just before they gave in to the craving of their addiction. What was the trigger? What was the deep painful impulse that was driving them? Some of the answers were “worthlessness, lost, disconnection, lack of existence, invisible, bad, evil, void, abandoned, alone, powerless, wrong, not breathing, non-being, humiliated, ashamed and unloved.” Then the same group was asked to visualize taking the drug and verbalize what the drug did for them. What was the promise, what was the relief? They wrote:
“self-discovery, focus for my life, meaning, surrender, will, acceptance by the group, feeling of being alive, freedom, acceptance of desire, living in the moment.” Now here is the catch. Although the desire for positive meaning is real, the lie is that drugs are the solution. It is like the song, “Looking for love in all the wrong places.” It is God that gives the “breath of life.” Jesus provides real meaning. The healing power of God and Christian fellowship is the answer to our deepest pain! God has created us for life. We are not supposed to go around feeling like a non-being. Instead, Paul prays that we would have the power to understand how wide, how long, how high, and how deep Christ’s love for us is. It is in experiencing God’s love for us that we are made complete with all the “fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Today, let the love of Christ breathe life deep into your soul and make you alive.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I want to live, really live. Help me find true meaning and purpose in Your love for me. Fill me with Your life-giving breath. Fill me with Your Spirit and make me more alive today than I have ever been.

Faith Not Fear

TODAY’S VERSE
“If only we had died in Egypt, or even here in the wilderness!” they complained. “Why is the LORD taking us to this country only to have us die in battle? Our wives and our little ones will be carried off as plunder! Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt?”
Numbers 14:2-3 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Faith is not easy. Here is a classic struggle where the children of God expected one thing and ended up with something else. They left Egypt, where they were slaves, hoping for a land of their own. And now, because of the report of “giants in the land,” they were afraid for their lives. All they could think of was returning to slavery! Isn’t that just like fear? All we can see is negativity. But not faith. Faith sees God; fear sees giants. Faith sees freedom; fear sees slavery. Faith sees the promised land; fear sees a wilderness. While the other spies saw giants in the land, Joshua and Caleb said, “The land we traveled through and explored is a wonderful land! And if the LORD is pleased with us, he will bring us safely into that land and give it to us. It is a rich land flowing with milk and honey.” The people reacted in fear; Joshua and Caleb reacted in faith. Today, no matter what your circumstances, choose faith.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me to see through the eyes of faith. Help me to trust You and not fear. Give me courage and strength, I pray.

Protect My Heart

TODAY’S VERSE
See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily.
Hebrews 3:12-13 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is so easy for our hearts to wander. Temptation, disappointment, deferred hope, loss, heartache, lust, greed, anger, jealousy, Spiritual apathy, and isolation are just some of the ways that our hearts can become sinful and unbelieving. We must do all we can in order not to be deceived and lose heart. Paul shares three ways to protect our hearts. He writes, “Fix your thoughts on Jesus.” Fixing our thoughts on Jesus will keep us from “heart” failure. He will help keep our hearts at peace and joy. In Philippians, Paul writes, “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Here we see that the protection of our heart starts with our head. We need to fix our thoughts on Jesus and those things that build us up. In today’s verse, Paul gives another way to protect our hearts. He writes, “Encourage one another daily.” Isolation can be a “kiss of death” to our hearts. We get alone in our pity party, and soon we find ourselves self-feeling hopeless, alone, and unbelieving. Instead, we need to fellowship with others. Today, find a friend and share your thoughts. Let them encourage you, pray for you, and help you with your burden. You can then do the same for someone else. Whatever else you do today, protect your heart!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me for the times I allow my heart to become sinful and unbelieving. Help me to fix my thoughts on Jesus and those things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. Help me to seek the fellowship of others that can, in turn, help me and encourage me. Lord, protect my heart, I pray. In Jesus Name.

Give Away Your Hope

TODAY’S VERSE
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
I Peter 3:15 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Hope is a precious commodity. You can live without a lot of things but it is hard to live this life without hope. Solomon wrote, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick!” How true that is. The opposite is true too. Hope makes the heart peaceful. Hope, in the resurrection power of Christ, enables us to overcome obstacles that hinder us. With hope in God’s love and faithfulness, we can look beyond adversity. But with hope, comes responsibility. It would be wrong to have a warehouse full of food and not let those that are starving have some. Likewise, to have hope and not show others how to have the same hope, would be unconscionable. For that reason, Peter tells us to, “be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” So where is your hope today? Is it in the living God? Are you feeling secure even when the pressure is on? If so, ask God to bring people to you that will ask about your hope. And when He does, ask God to help you present to them the reason you have hope in Christ.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for the hope that I find in You. You are my hope and I want to tell others about You. Give me the courage and strength to give an answer to every person that asks me where my hope comes from.

Holding On

TODAY’S VERSE
Since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Hebrews 4:14-16 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Holding on. Have you ever felt like that’s all you can do? Things are out of control. You are not sure what to do? The question is, “What do you hang on to?” The author of Hebrews says that we should “hold firmly to the faith we profess.” But this is not some “blind” faith. Instead, we hold on to a faith that is in a God who cares and empathizes with our situation. Jesus knows what it is to be human, to suffer, to be tempted, to be abandoned, beaten, and killed. He also knows how to love unconditionally, to forgive every imaginable sin, to be tempted and not give in, and to rise from the dead. Is it no wonder that the author gives one of the most incredible pieces of advice ever given? He writes, “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence.” He is suggesting that you can come boldly right into the presence of God without the worry of repercussion. And what will you get when you enter right into the very presence of God? He promises that you will receive mercy and find grace to help you in your time of need. So today, when you feel anxious or worried, hold on! If you find yourself alone and depressed, hold on! If everything you hear is negative and panic sets in, hold on! If you become angry and bitterness starts to fester, hold on! Hold on to His mercy and grace; they will never fail.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come to You and hold on today. I thank You that You are the great High Priest that never sinned but became the perfect sacrifice for my sin. I place my faith in You, dear Father, and come to Your throne of grace with confidence. Thank You for Your mercy and grace that is always there in my time of need.

Fully Persuaded

TODAY’S VERSE
Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
Romans 4:20-21 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Being fully persuaded makes all the difference in the world. Our faith is only as good as our belief in the object of our faith. If we don’t have a relationship with God, how are we going to really trust Him? How are we going to be fully persuaded that He can do the things He promised? A second-hand faith passed down from your parents won’t do. A nominal, Sunday only, Christianity will not produce the evidence you need to put your trust in God. Abraham was fully persuaded that God had the power to do what He said because He knew who God was. You can have that kind of relationship with God. He invites you to know Him. He has provided the Holy Spirit to teach you and lead you into a deep relationship with the Father. Start today, by committing yourself to a process of knowing God better. Begin to pray for specific requests and watch as God answers them. As He does, you will learn about His character, His desires, His will. It is this experiential knowledge that teaches you that God has the power to do what He has promised. This will cause you to pray for more mighty acts of God with more faith. Little by little as God reveals Himself you too will become fully persuaded.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, help me step out in faith today. As I trust You and You reveal Your power and Your majesty to me, help me to trust You more. Build faith in me until I am fully persuaded that You have the power to do all that You have promised. Lord, I believe, help my unbelief. In Jesus’ name.
