Thinking Of Me

TODAY’S VERSE
How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!
Psalms 139:17-18

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What did you start your morning thinking about? Do you know what God thought about? He thought about you! How great is that? The God of all the universes is thinking about you. Not only thinking but constantly conscious of you. David is saying that God’s thoughts toward him are precious, and there are so many that he cannot even count them. What implications should this have on your day? What difference should knowing that God is very conscious of you and that He dearly loves you make? Should it change the way you think? How about the way you feel? Should it affect the plans that you have? We are not talking about some religion. We are talking about a God who wants a relationship with you, a vital, living, breathing, has-to-make-a-huge-difference-in-your-life relationship. He is thinking about you. Now, why don’t you do the same? Spend some time today and the next few days thinking about Him. Read His word, meditate in His presence, and talk to Him. When you do, it will only reinforce how precious His thoughts are about you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I thank You that You are always thinking about me. Thank You for loving me. I confess that I don’t spend enough time thinking about You. I want to change that. Help me carve out the time I need to spend with You. Guide me in my meditation and prayers. Please help me know You better. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Slipping

TODAY’S VERSE
I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O LORD, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.
Psalms 94:18-19 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
I love the “do-over.” Optimism comes from the ability to “bounce back’, to be resilient, and our God is the God of resilience. The author cried out that he was slipping. Have you ever felt that way? You are trying to climb out of a well, but the sides are slippery, and you keep sliding back down. The result of the author slipping was a mind full of doubt. But even in his doubt, God was there. God’s unfailing love was able to support him. The comfort that came from the Lord gave him renewed hope and cheer. God can do the same with you. Today, bring God your doubts. Bring Him your slippery situation. Let His love support you; let His comfort give you renewed hope and cheer.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, I am slipping. Help me today. May Your love support me. May Your comfort renew my hope. I pray this in Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Praise and Confession

TODAY’S VERSE
But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer. Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer or withdraw his unfailing love from me.
Psalm 66:19-20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Were you ever tempted to lie to someone because you thought telling the truth would get you in trouble? The author of today’s verse took the risk of confessing his sins to God, and he was so surprised at God’s reaction that he could not wait to tell everyone. He wrote, “Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will tell you what he did for me.” He came crying to God with confession and praise, and God heard his cries. He wrote, “For I cried out to him for help, praising him as I spoke. If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.” And what was the result? God listened. The Father paid attention to his prayers. The author concludes, “Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer or withdraw his unfailing love from me.” Today you can have the same results. Bring your praise, confession, and prayers before God. He will hear you. He will not withdraw His unfailing love from you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear God and Father, thank You for Your unfailing love that does not reward me according to my sins nor ignores my prayers. Thank you for the fact that I can come to You with all my sins and requests, and know that you will not shut me out. I praise You for Your unfailing love. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Holy Spirit

TODAY’S VERSE
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
Romans 8:26 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever groaned for someone? I think of the times I have interceded with God for my children. I was so concerned and deeply moved that I would literally groan my requests to God. I was praying with deep intent and emotion. I was interceding out of love and concern. I was praying from the heart. However, this is just a small measure of how the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. Paul shares that the Holy Spirit helps us with our weaknesses by interceding with God in ways we will never know about. His groaning on our behalf is so intense that it cannot be expressed in human language. What concern, what love, what power the Holy Spirit expresses to God the Father for us? Today, join the Holy Spirit in His intercession for you. Tell Him your concerns. Share with Him your needs, and your deepest longings. Then take comfort knowing that the Holy Spirit is interceding on your behalf.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Thank You that even when I don’t know how to pray, Your Spirit intercedes for me. Bless You, Lord, for Your deep love and concern for me.
AMEN

Where Are You Walking?

TODAY’S VERSE
And so I walk in the LORD’s presence as I live here on earth!
Psalms 116:9

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Where are you walking? It is easy to walk and not be conscious of where we are. I was hiking on a mountain trail in a dark green lush forest. It was a beautiful sunny day, and yet as the afternoon set in, it suddenly dawned on me that I spent most of my time looking down at the trail, watching out for roots, rocks, and snakes, trying to forge ahead and make my destination. We have a negativity bias. I never looked up at the trees or saw all the beautiful panoramic views of the valley below. I missed a whole day of breathtaking scenery because of my preoccupation with potential dangers in the trail in front of me. Our God is magnificent. His love is unfathomable. And yet, if we are not careful, we will find ourselves walking through this life worried about everything, never really aware of His loving and protective presence. Today, let’s make a conscious effort, like the Psalmist, to walk in the Lord’s presence as we live here on earth!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I am so sorry for missing so much of your love. I have not been consciously aware of your grace and Glory because I have been preoccupied with a negativity bias. I forgot that you love me and will protect me. You are the true source of joy, love, and life itself. Today, Lord, I come back. I want to walk the trail with you, fully conscious of Your presence. Oh, Holy Spirit, help me to that end, I pray.
AMEN

Amazing Grace

TODAY’S VERSE
But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!
I Chronicles 29:14 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
David knew about God’s grace and mercy. He loved God and was constantly amazed by His love. So when it came time to build a Temple to honor God, David gave all of his vast treasure to the project. He did not hold back. Neither did the people. A great collection was made of gold, silver, lumber, jewels, and other riches. When the people’s offering was finished, David was humbled and grateful. He wrote, “Who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you?” David was amazed by God’s grace. Are we? How can we sing the song Amazing Grace and still not get it? How can we live our lives and not feel what David was feeling? Who are we that He would love us unconditionally? Yet, He does. Today, let us stop and consider how amazing God’s grace really is!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for Your grace, love, and mercy toward me. Today help me to know deep in my heart how amazing Your grace really is.
AMEN

Wake Up!

TODAY’S VERSE
Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.
Matthew 22:29 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There are mistakes, and then there are catastrophic errors! Some mistakes don’t have much of a consequence. We can live with them. But some errors can have crippling effects on our life. The sad thing is that we do not even realize we are making a mistake. A person in a coma would not know if they were starving to death. If not careful, we can slip into a spiritual coma. A coma that causes us to go through this life spiritually starving. It was the error of the Sadducees, the religious leaders of Jesus’ day. It is our mistake, too, when we become complacent and live without the daily awareness of the scriptures or the power of God. God is not looking for religiousness. He is looking for a relationship where He can share his word with us and live through us with His power. Today, let us snap out of our spiritual coma and come alive in Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, stir me from my coma. I do not know Your word like I should or Your power. Revive me, wake me up that I may know You deeper and live for you in the fullness of Your power.
AMEN

Anxiety

TODAY’S VERSE
Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
I Peter 5:7 (ESV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is so easy to worry. We start to believe lies about ourselves and, more importantly, about God. We begin to doubt our worth and His great love for us. With our minds full of false beliefs, we make horrible predictions that cause us to worry and fret. Peter knew this all too well. He had worried when Jesus was taken to be crucified. Peter let his mind get the best of him, and when Jesus was being tried and beaten, Peter denied that he ever knew Him. He let his fear overshadow the love that Jesus had for Him. Years later, Peter wrote to the church and shared what he knew as true. He told them to cast all their worries and concerns once and for all on Jesus. Why? Because Peter had experienced the fact that Jesus deeply cared for him. Today, let this same affection that Jesus had for Peter fill you with courage. Come to Him and cast all your cares on Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, thank You for Your love and affection for me. I come to You today because You care for me, and I cast all my concerns and worries at Your feet.
AMEN

Servant of the Lord

TODAY’S VERSE
And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”
Luke 1:38

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What a shock it must have been to Mary. First, to see an angel would have been an incredible experience. But to have that angel say that you would have a baby through Immaculate Conception and that the baby would be God in the flesh would have been incomprehensible. But instead of trying to get her mind around it, Mary let her faith understand. In love, trust, and obedience, she submitted to the word of God through the angel. How did she do it? A better question may be, “Why did she submit to such an inconceivable experience?” She could say, “Let it be to me according to your word,” because she was confident in who she was. Before this ever happened, she had made up her mind that she was a servant of the Lord. What a difference it makes in our life when that issue is settled. You see, the word “No” and “Lord” cannot go together. The only possible answer to the Lordship of Christ is, “Yes, Your will be done.” Today, come to God as young Mary did. Say, “Behold, I am a servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear God, I desire Your will in my life. Like Mary, I come to You today and say, “Behold, I am a servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”
AMEN

What Will You Say?

TODAY’S VERSE
Hear me as I pray, O Lord. Be merciful and answer me! My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
Psalms 27:7-8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What have you heard from the Lord? There are many messages in the Bible, but how many have you really heard? How many have permeated your heart and changed how you think and live? David heard a message from God, and it changed his life forever. He cried out to God to listen to his prayers. He begged God to be merciful and answer him. God saw his sincerity and invited David to “Come and talk with me.” David heard the Lord wholeheartedly and responded, “Lord, I am coming!” Today, hear the same invitation to you. Hear Jesus say, “Come and talk with me.” What, then, will be your response?

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, I hear you say, “Come and talk with me.” In my heart, I say, “Lord, I am coming.”
AMEN
