Hear Me

TODAY’S VERSE
Do not stay so far from me, for trouble is near, and no one else can help me.
Psalms 22:11 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever been full of despair? Have you been in such a state you weren’t sure how you would go on? Life is full of struggles, heartache, and difficulties. But there is God. David paints this horrific picture of despair, yet in the midst of it, he gives hope. Hope in God. He writes, “For he has not ignored or belittled the suffering of the needy. He has not turned his back on them, but has listened to their cries for help.” He confirms this when he continues writing, “The poor will eat and be satisfied. All who seek the LORD will praise him. Their hearts will rejoice with everlasting joy.” So today, when trouble comes, doubt creeps in, and despair is near, cry out to God. He will hear you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, You know all about me. You know my struggles and heartache. You promised Lord that You are always near, so I come to You today for help. Hear the cry of my heart, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Don’t Be Afraid; He Is Here

TODAY’S VERSE
Don’t be afraid. I am here!
John 6:20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The disciples had just witnessed the feeding of 5,000 people from a few fish and loaves of bread. What a miraculous event! That same evening they got into their boat and headed across the lake toward Capernaum. When they were out on the lake, a fierce gale swept down upon them. All of a sudden they saw Jesus walking on the water toward the boat. The Bible says that they were terrified. But the great news is that Jesus, knowing their fear, said, “Don’t be afraid. I am here!” Immediately they were comforted and welcomed Him into the boat. And then the miracle happened. The boat was immediately transported to the shore! What storm are you in? What struggles do you have? Jesus still walks upon the water. He will meet you in the midst of your storm. All you need to do is let Him in the boat.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, thank You for meeting me in my storms. Thank You for walking toward me. Today, I hear You say, “Don’t be afraid, I am here!” Jesus, I hear You. I trust You. Make me conscious of Your presence.
AMEN

Jesus Is Here

TODAY’S VERSE
They were all terrified when they saw him. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!
Mark 6:50 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever been terrified? The disciples experienced it. Mark explains, “Jesus had finished ministry for the day and He told the disciples to cross the lake. Late that night, Jesus saw that they were in serious trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind and waves. About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. He intended to go past them, but when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost.” You see, they were terrified. But here is the good news. Jesus didn’t wait for them to ask for help; instead, He saw their predicament and spoke to them at once. He saw them in their terror and said, “Don’t be afraid.” There they were, terrified, thinking there was no out, and Jesus opened the door of hope. And why could they have that hope? Because Jesus finished by saying, “Take courage! I am here!” Jesus was there, and there was no room for fear. Today, realize this heavenly truth for yourself. Today take courage and let go of your fear; Jesus is here!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, thank You for coming to me in my storm. Thank You for telling me to take courage, for You are here. Help me be conscious of Your presence. Drive fear far from my heart. In Your name Jesus.
AMEN

Safety

TODAY’S VERSE
Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge.
Psalms 16:1 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Safety can be evasive. You can be in the safest place on earth and still feel insecure. The feeling of being unsafe is not a location; it is a state of mind. It is waking up worrying about doing something wrong that day or dreading that someone will not be pleased with you. It is trying to stay out of trouble and being ready to please everyone. It is walking through our day as if a predator is in the room. We are never entirely peaceful, always on guard. David knew trouble. But he also knew safety. He was safe in the cave even when Saul’s army was at the foot of the mountain. Why? Because He knew how to live in God’s presence. He writes, “I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence.” God’s presence and His unconditional love for you trump all fear. Today, go in peace. God’s presence is with you, He is right beside You, and you are safe.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I am so tired of feeling unsafe. Today, I surrender my fears to You. I accept Your love for me. Help me be conscious of Your loving presence. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

He Cares For You

TODAY’S VERSE
Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”
Mark 4:38 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
How often do we think the same thing the disciples thought? It was storming, and they thought they were going to die. So they came to a sleeping Jesus and asked Him if He cared that they would drown. Now I understand their concern, but why question Christ’s love? Instead, they could have asked Him to simply calm the storm. The trouble was, deep in their heart, they didn’t think that was an option. We see this when moments later, Jesus did calm the storm. They were terrified with amazement and said, “Who is this man that even the sea and winds obey Him?” Isn’t that like us? Not only do we doubt that God can help us so many times, we doubt that He wants to! The truth is, He cares. An old hymn says it best, “Does Jesus care when my way is dark with a nameless dread and fear? As the daylight fades into deep night shades, does He care enough to be near? O yes, He cares, I know He cares, His heart is touched with my grief; when the days are weary, the long night dreary, I know my Savior cares.” Today, know He cares for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, how often I am in that boat. Trouble comes, and I doubt Your power and Your love. Forgive me. Today, I rebuke the lie that You do not care for me and choose to believe the truth that You love me and care for me deeply. For this, I give thanks.
AMEN

My Doubt

TODAY’S VERSE
The people refused to enter the pleasant land, for they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them.

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There are sad stories, but this is one of the saddest. After years of slavery, Moses liberated the children of God. However, because of their disobedience, they wandered in the wilderness for forty years. Finally, they were on the border of the Promised Land, and God told them to send out twelve spies into the land. When they came back, ten of the spies gave a negative report saying it was impossible to overtake the giants that lived in the Land. Joshua and Caleb said that they should trust God to provide them with victory. Sadly, the people ended up refusing to go into the land. Why? Because they were scared? At first glance, it seems so, but today’s verse shares the sad truth. The real reason they did not enter the promised land was they doubted God. They questioned if He cared, even worse, whether He was able to care for them. How many opportunities have you missed? How many times have you let fear stop you from following God? How many times have you doubted whether God could do anything for your situation? Worse, how many times have you doubted that He even cared? Today, repent of your unbelief. Put your faith in God and let Him lead you into the land He has for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, forgive me for my crippling doubts. Help me to know You more so I will trust You in everything You ask me to do. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Don’t Fear

TODAY’S VERSE
But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!”
Mark 7:50 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Jesus told the Disciples to take their boat to the other side of the Lake. While they were on their way, a large storm came down upon them. They were afraid enough by the storm, but then around 3:00 a.m., they thought they saw a ghost when Jesus came walking on the water to their boat! They were terrified. Jesus, seeing their fear doesn’t rebuke them but rather says to them, “Don’t be afraid. Take courage! I am here!” He says the same to you. What storm of life has you shaking in the back of the boat? What is keeping you up at three in the morning? Today, hear Jesus say to you, “Don’t be afraid! Take courage! I am here!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, You know those things that frighten me. Help me take courage today knowing that you are with me.
AMEN

Worries

TODAY’S VERSE
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
I Peter 5:7

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What do you do with your worries? We all have them. We can’t help what comes into our heads, but once there, we have choices. The trouble is worry feels productive. It feels like we are attempting to solve something. It feels like we are getting close to resolution, but all we really are doing is repeatedly ruminating all these negative scenarios in our heads. Situations can cause us to be concerned, shocked, apprehensive, cautioned, and even horrified. But after our initial reaction, we can reflect, review the situation and take action. Worry, however, just worries. It doesn’t stop; it goes on and on unless we do something to make it quit. We need something bigger than our worries to take care of them. That is why Peter says you can give all your worries and cares to God. Why? Because He is God, He is big enough! And because He cares about you! Can you feel your body relax? He cares for you. Can you feel the worries leave? How wonderful. Today, don’t hang on to your worries one more second. Give them to God. He cares about you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father God. Thank You for caring so deeply for me. I am bringing all my worries and cares to You. Help me to leave them there.
Amen

Heal My Inner Self

TODAY’S VERSE
Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close.
Psalms 27:10 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
We live in a fallen world, and many of us suffer from an early childhood that has left us emotionally immature. It seems that we are constantly using negative ways to regulate our emotions. But we don’t have to be victims of our past. In His wisdom and grace, God has provided us with the ability to overcome childhood issues through new adult relationships with Him. Today, we don’t need to suffer from a painful past. We have the presence of the Holy Spirit, the forgiveness of Christ, and the love of God the Father. As we spend time with God and develop a deep relationship, we will find ourselves creating a new and liberating bond with God. This healing relationship with the Father will renew our minds and heal the painful memories and consequent beliefs that lead us to despair. Today, come to God. Let Him hold you. Allow His love to do a deep work in you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your loving commitment to me. Thank You that You have not abandoned me but love me and hold me close to Your heart. Do a deep work in me. Heal me deep in my inner self and give me the joy and peace that only You can provide.
AMEN

Fear Not

TODAY’S VERSE
In my distress I prayed to the LORD, and the LORD answered me and set me free. The LORD is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?
Psalms 118:5-6 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
How many fears do we suffer from today? Having suffered from a variety of phobias, I have had to deal with anxiety. Today’s passage illustrates a great realization that has made a vast difference in my life. It is this, the fact that the Lord is here. The Psalmist wrote, “In my distress, I prayed to the LORD, and the LORD answered me and set me free. The LORD is for me, so I will have no fear.” The presence of our living, all-knowing, all-powerful God can bring peace to the most challenging situations. He is the God of the now. He is here, and He cares. Peter wrote, “Casting all your cares on Him, for He cares for you!” God’s presence brings everything into perspective. His presence switches our thinking from monstrous evildoers to “mere men.” We can say with the Psalmist, “What can mere people do to me?” Today, reframe your fears. Put it in perspective. Look at your worries in the light of His presence and power.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, free me from my fears. Help me today to realize that You are here. I cast all my worries on You because You care for me!
AMEN
