Share The Good News

TODAY’S VERSE
I have told all your people about your justice. I have not been afraid to speak out, as you, O LORD, well know. I have not kept the good news of your justice hidden in my heart; I have talked about your faithfulness and saving power. I have told everyone in the great assembly of your unfailing love and faithfulness.
Psalms 40:9-10 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
People are dying for the lack of a Savior! All around us are people with profound needs that God can help them with. We need to be a witness of God’s love and share with them the good news that He loves them. As we experience our relationship with God and learn to understand His love for us, we will be more able to share this love with others. This is what David did. As he experienced God’s unfailing love and faithfulness, he told others about it. He did not hide it in his heart. Paul asks, “How can people believe in Christ if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?” Today, let God lead you. Ask Him to bring you into a situation where you can share with others how God has been faithful in your life. Share how you have experienced God’s love for you or how He has provided for you in some way. Offer to pray for them so they, too, can experience the love and power of God. Remember, you are not doing this alone. God will use the Holy Spirit to prepare the way and open the door for you to share.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for what You have done in my life. Please open the door for me to share this with others. As I speak of Your love and mighty power and all that You are doing in my life, might Your Holy Spirit help them receive the truth for themselves. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Grace, Mercy, and Peace

TODAY’S VERSE
May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace.
II Timothy 1:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Could Paul possibly fit any more into one sentence? I don’t think there is a time I read this salutation that I don’t sense a deep stirring in my soul. It stops me dead in my tracks. I don’t need to go any further. It is all here. What else could we possibly need in life? Grace. God’s love, attention, and salvation is given to you freely, just because He wants to. Mercy. God’s forgiveness of your sins and provision for your life when there is no way in this world you deserve it. Peace. Deep in your heart, peace with God and from God, passing all your understanding. What a privilege, what a blessing, what an incredible gift from God. Will you receive it today? Will you agree with Paul? Will you request what God is freely giving, what Christ has graciously provided? May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace today.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come now to receive what You so freely offer. I ask to be filled with Your grace, mercy, and peace. Make me so conscious of these gifts that my heart overflows with praise and thanksgiving, and my life reflects the joy of this reality. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Give What You Have

TODAY’S VERSE
Peter said, ‘I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!'” Acts 3:6 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
A man was crippled sitting by the Temple Gate and was asking for money. When the Apostles Peter and John came by, the man asked them for money. Instead of giving the man money, Peter was moved by God to pronounce healing for the man. He said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!” I believe that God has called you and me to respond to those in need similarly. We are to give to those in need what we have. What was it that Peter had? First, we see that Peter had obedience to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. It was God that orchestrated the healing. He nudged Peter to do this act of kindness, and Peter obeyed. Second, we see that Peter had faith. Pronouncing the command of “get up and walk” was an act of faith. Peter trusted God to do what He had told him to do. Third, we see that Peter had authority. Peter commanded the man to be healed because Christ gave him the authority to act on His behalf. Today, you may be challenged to help others. If you are like Peter and your pockets are empty, do not despair. Give them what you do have. Give them love, hope, kindness, mercy, grace, and life. Command a blessing upon them in the name of Jesus. You are an ambassador of Christ; go forward in obedience, faith, and authority.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I want to be used by You to help others. Please guide me by Your Holy Spirit. Show me what You want me to do and then help me be obedient and have the faith to act in authority. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

God’s Glorious Grace

TODAY’S VERSE
So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.
Ephesians 2:7.8

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you awoken to the fact yet that you are special to God? Has your soul been stirred by the realization that God has decided to love you no matter what you have done? Does it matter to you that God has chosen you to be His child? If not, perhaps you do not really understand the concept of “grace.” Grace is the word that Paul chose to elevate to a whole new meaning. We find it throughout his writings. In today’s passage, Paul says that God has lavished an incredible wealth of grace and kindness on you. The word “grace” Paul refers to means “unmerited divine favor, approval, mercy, pardon, and forgiveness.” The grace you receive from God is unmerited because nothing you have done, or ever could do, would merit the kind of love and forgiveness God has for you. This grace is also divine. It is divine because it is from God Himself. He has chosen to extend His mercy, forgiveness, pardon, and approval to you. Finally, God’s grace to you is a gift. There is nothing you could ever do that would allow you to take credit for the incredible love and forgiveness God has for you. It is a gift from God Himself. Have you ever accepted His gift of grace? If not, you can receive His gift of forgiveness and eternal life today. Confess your need to God and then thank Him for His death on the cross for the payment of your sins. Thank Him for the amazing love He has for you. Thank Him for your total forgiveness and the promise of an eternal home with Him forever. Thank Him for His amazing grace.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I thank you for the grace you have extended to me. I accept the mercy, forgiveness, and love Your grace has provided for me today.
I praise You with all my heart. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Follow Him

TODAY’S VERSE
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ – ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Matthew 25:35-36, 40 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Jesus used this parable to illustrate who His true followers were. He could have used any illustration. He could have said, “Those who know my word the best.” “Those that spend the most time in church.” “Those that pray the most.” But He didn’t. While those are all behaviors we should take seriously, Jesus chose to immortalize those who helped the hungry, helpless, naked, sick, and prisoners as His true followers. When are we going to get this? When will we see that this was foremost on Jesus’ mind? When are we going to see that this was what He personally exemplified? Let Jesus Himself tell us one more time, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, Help me to be more like You. Help me get involved in helping and loving those in need.
AMEN

Love As God Does

TODAY’S VERSE
Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
I John 4:7-8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
When Jesus was asked what the most important commandment was, He said to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind and to love our neighbor as yourself. If this wasn’t enough to convince us that love is essential, the Apostle John makes it abundantly clear by giving us a unique piece of theology. He defines God. He says, “God is love!” Not “God wants us to love.” Not “God desires love.” Not “God loves us.” He says, “God is love, and if anyone does not love, he or she does not know God.” Today, let us reset our priorities and love the way our God, who is love, loves.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, You are love. I cannot even imagine what that means. But I do know that You want me to love as You do. So today, dear Lord, help me love others the same way You love me.
AMEN

Really Love Others

TODAY’S VERSE
Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them.
Romans 12:9 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is so easy to pretend. When it comes to loving others, it is easy to go through the superficial motions without getting involved in a more profound way. Paul writes that we are to “really” love each other, and if we do not understand his meaning, he gives us a list of loving attributes. He writes, “Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with each other and finally, do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.” Today, consider all those that you will be with, and with God’s grace, don’t pretend to love others; really love them.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, You are love, so I ask that through the power of Your Holy Spirit, help me quit pretending and really love others.
AMEN

Tender Mercies

TODAY’S VERSE
He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
Psalms 103:4

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever had untender mercies? You know where someone gives you a break but humiliates you, threatens you, and assures that you know you owe them? That is not tender mercies! But here, the Psalmist is saying that God’s mercy is tender. Think of that word—Tender– a tender touch, a tender kiss, a tender look—God’s is a tender mercy! How can I begin to express how tender His love is for you? God comes to you with His tender mercy and is ready and able to forgive you for all your transgressions. David, in another part of the Psalms, wrote, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” Today, don’t shy away. Come to God for His forgiveness. Come to God for His love. Let Him pour out on you all of His tender mercies.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for Your tender mercies. How I love You, how my heart praises You for all Your love toward me.
AMEN

Overflowing Love

TODAY’S VERSE
I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding.
Philippians 1:9 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever struggled, contemplating what the will of God is for your life? It is easy to spend all our time wondering about the various choices we make in life. What job should I take, where should I live, and who should I marry? Major life choices are crucial, and we need to pray and ask God for discernment in these areas, but Paul sees a greater will for our life. He prays that our love will overflow in our life. Love for God, ourselves, and others. There is no greater purpose. There is no greater will for our life. Paul adds to his prayer that we will keep growing in knowledge and understanding. Yes, we need to seek God for wisdom and discernment. We need to be wise with the major choices in our lives, but first and foremost, let us remember God’s will for our life is to love.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, you know my worry about the many choices in life. Help me grow in knowledge and understanding that I may know Your will. But more than that, help me love the way You love.
AMEN

What Are You Wearing?

TODAY’S VERSE
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. – Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.
Colossians 3:12, 14 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What are you wearing? I like Paul’s analogy that our Christian lifestyle is like the clothes we wear. Clothes are what people see, and so are our actions. Paul is saying that because God dearly loves us and chooses us to be His holy people, we should behave in certain ways. Not out of necessity but out of gratitude. Not phony like a mask or pretentious like a Tuxedo, but our actions should reflect our everyday attire. It should be natural for us to wear tenderhearted mercy and kindness. People should see humility, gentleness, and patience when they see us. Most of all, love should be evident to everyone that meets us. The good news is that Paul included all but mercy in his list of the fruit of the spirit. The Holy Spirit, Himself, helps us live this way. So today, make sure when you pick out your outfit to wear, you include tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, and love.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, help me to make mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, and love a priority in my life. Help me wear them like I do my clothing. For Your glory and in Your power, I pray.
AMEN
