Grace And Peace

TODAY’S VERSE
May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.
II Peter 1:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever tired of someone who needs the same thing repeatedly? It tries our patience when we are asked to extend forgiveness or grace to the same person multiple times. We ask ourselves, “When will they get it right?” And yet God, who could easily ignore us and consider our very life of no significance, chooses to extend to us His grace and peace over and over again. He does this in the most marvelous way. He does it through our knowing Him. In today’s verse, Peter uses a specific word for knowledge. It means personal, experiential knowledge. We just don’t know about God’s grace and peace; we know that He is intimately gracious and loving toward us. It is this living knowledge that gives us peace over and over again. So today, walk with God. Know Him in a deep and personal way. Let Him graciously speak peace to your heart.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, how I thank You for Your grace and peace in my life. You know and love me, Lord, and I desire with all my heart to know You better. Speak to me, teach me, fill me with Your Spirit and give me more and more of Your extraordinary grace and peace. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Listen

TODAY’S VERSE
I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guard post. There I will wait to see what the LORD says and how he will answer my complaint.
Habakkuk 2:1 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Troubles were everywhere. The Babylonians were coming against the Jewish nation. They were brutal and Habakkuk the prophet was complaining to the Lord. “Lord aren’t you listening. Will you let them get away with this forever? Will they succeed forever in their heartless conquests?” But then he stopped and went to the watchtower to stand guard. And while at his post, he declared that he would wait to see how the Lord would answer him. Habakkuk knew the secret to listening to God. It is in asking the right questions. In his book, ‘Experiencing Healing Prayer’ Rich Richardson writes, “Learn to recognize that God is concretely present with you and then to ask good questions of this very present God. Then wait until he speaks into your heart and mind.” Jesus, Himself said, “I do nothing on my own but say only what the Father taught me.” Today, tell God your complaints, ask Him relevant questions then wait patiently for God to answer.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I confess that I have many complaints, but I don’t wait for You to answer. Today I come with an open mind and heart. Speak to me I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

His Presence

TODAY’S VERSE
Let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him.
Hebrews 10:22 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Today’s verse is amazing. It is mind-boggling! God has made a way that we can go right into His very presence and fellowship with Him. What a marvelous plan. A Holy and Just God, who creates us as human beings with all our imperfections, sin, and outright rebellion, also makes a way, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, that we can come into His presence and have intimate fellowship with Him. He writes, “We can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.” Read it again. Not just enter, but boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place. Today, you have been invited. You have an open invitation to visit the MOST Holy Place. You, today, can go right into the very presence of God, fully trusting that He wants you there.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for making a way that I can go right into Your presence. Thank You that I can fully trust that You want me there. I come now; make me conscious of Your very presence, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Heaven and Earth

TODAY’S VERSE
Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ.
Philippians 1:27 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is easy to get so involved in the minutia of this life that we forget that we have been born again into a new family. We forget that we have a whole new existence. We are now Heaven’s citizens, which should affect everything we do here. Paul tells us that above everything else, we must live as people of Heaven. We have dual citizenship! This should change the way we look at this world, the way we interpret events, and the way we live out our faith. Paul says it should result in living a life worthy of Christ’s grace and mercy toward us. Today, rejoice! You are a child of God and a citizen of His Kingdom! Let this reality shape the way you think and act.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for making me a citizen of Heaven. I am Your servant and pledge my allegiance to You and Your Kingdom here on earth. Help me live in a manner worthy of this Good News. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Make It A Good Morning

TODAY’S VERSE
Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you.
Psalms 143:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What do you wake up to in the morning? I remember a period in my life when depression and anxiety had me in their grip. I would dread the morning. I would have to fight not to wake to a panic attack. It got so bad that I didn’t want to sleep at night because I knew I would wake up again. But the Lord was faithful. I would go to bed by faith and prep myself to get up and run to Him in prayer and meditation. I learned that from David. Earlier in this passage, David wrote, “I am losing all hope; I am paralyzed with fear. – Come quickly, LORD, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don’t turn away from me.” Then he shared, “Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you.” My friend, it was true for David, it was true for me, it is true for you. Today, listen to God’s unfailing love for you. You can trust Him; go in peace.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, let me hear of Your unfailing love, let me sense that it true, help me believe it with all my heart, for I am trusting you.
AMEN

We Are Not Hopeless

TODAY’S VERSE
LORD, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.
Psalms 10:17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
When are you helpless but not hopeless? When you trust God. No more than a young child is hopeless when their parent stands nearby. The Psalmist assures us that the Lord hears our cries and comforts us. There may be areas in your life that leave you seemingly helpless. There appears to be no answer, no solution but remember, even when we seem helpless, we are not hopeless. Today, bring your situation to Christ. He knows your plight. He loves you with unfailing love. He hears you and will comfort your heart. Remember, the Lord knows the hopes of the helpless.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father. Thank You that You never leave me hopeless. You know me. You love me. You hear my cries, and today I hope in You. Come, dear Lord, comfort me, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Pursue God

TODAY’S VERSE
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life.
Psalms 23:6 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The poem “Hound of Heaven” by Francis Thompson depicts God as a relentless hound in its pursuit of the rabbit. No matter where the hare hides or runs, the hound will not quit until the rabbit is caught. I know the author was trying to convey that God, in His mercy, pursues us even though we run from Him. However, centuries earlier, David used a different metaphor more in keeping with the Scriptures. Rather than a hunter that seeks to destroy the hare, David talked of a Shepherd that loves his sheep. Instead of a gun to kill, the Shepherd uses a rod and staff to protect and comfort. Instead of pursuing with fear and torment, David writes, “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life.” Both are right, God does pursue, but rest assured He is pursuing you with His love. Today, stop running. Pursue the one who pursues you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, lover of my soul. Forgive me for running from You. I turn to You today and proclaim with joy, “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life.” Help me pursue You.
AMEN

I’m His Masterpiece

TODAY’S VERSE
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever felt like a masterpiece? There have been many times when I have felt just the opposite. There are certain times, certain people, or specific circumstances that seem to flip a switch in me, and the next thing I know, I am down the road of self-doubt. I feel the opposite of all those good things that God wants for me. Significant? No. Of value? No. Purposeful? No. And certainly not a masterpiece. But I have learned over time that what I may believe or not believe in those moments of self-doubt does not come from God. They are not from a Christian worldview but rather my erroneous beliefs of how I should be or what others have thought about me. I have given back to God those parts of me that I feel do not measure up, and if I cannot change them, I thank Him for them. They are all part of His plan. Today I choose to stand on God’s word and believe what Paul said. I am God’s masterpiece that He created so I can do the good things he planned for me. I invite you to do the same.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for creating me as a masterpiece for Your purposes. Help me believe that You love me and see me as significant, full of value, and deeply loved. Fill me with deep self-love that gives You all the glory and lives to fulfill the work you have planned for me. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Worship

TODAY’S VERSE
Come, let us tell of the LORD’s greatness; let us exalt his name together.
Psalms 34:3 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Worship lifts the soul. It is our way of connecting with God that is personal and meaningful. Exalting the name of God is giving Him the glory that He is due. Sharing with others about God’s greatness and all He has done for us blesses not only God but also encourages our hearts, enlarges our faith, and resets our path. So today, find someone and tell them of the greatness of God in your life. Exalt His name before them and all that He is. Worship God and let Him revive your soul.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father God. How I exalt Your name above all names. You are great and mighty and worthy of all my praise and thanksgiving. I worship You, God, for all You have done and all that You are. In Jesus’ Holy name.
AMEN

Don’t Be Afraid; He Is Here

TODAY’S VERSE
Don’t be afraid. I am here!
John 6:20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
The disciples had just witnessed the feeding of 5,000 people from a few fish and loaves of bread. What a miraculous event! That same evening they got into their boat and headed across the lake toward Capernaum. When they were out on the lake, a fierce gale swept down upon them. All of a sudden they saw Jesus walking on the water toward the boat. The Bible says that they were terrified. But the great news is that Jesus, knowing their fear, said, “Don’t be afraid. I am here!” Immediately they were comforted and welcomed Him into the boat. And then the miracle happened. The boat was immediately transported to the shore! What storm are you in? What struggles do you have? Jesus still walks upon the water. He will meet you in the midst of your storm. All you need to do is let Him in the boat.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, thank You for meeting me in my storms. Thank You for walking toward me. Today, I hear You say, “Don’t be afraid, I am here!” Jesus, I hear You. I trust You. Make me conscious of Your presence.
AMEN
