Made For Joy

TODAY’S VERSE
“I come to your altar, O LORD, singing a song of thanksgiving and telling of all your wonders.”
Psalms 26:6-7 (NLT)

“Be glad in the LORD, you righteous ones, And give thanks to His holy name.”
Psalms 97:12 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
The Christian life was meant to be a life of joy. God created us for joy. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be pain or suffering. There will be, but like a child who cries when it hurts itself, soon returns to joy in the loving and compassionate understanding of it’s mother, we too find joy in the loving arms of our Father God. It is this relationship with our creator, this love bond that He puts in our hearts through the presence of the Holy Spirit that returns us again and again to joy. That is why David could say, “Be glad in the Lord.” It is the knowing that God is glad to be with us, that we are loved beyond measure that allows us come to His altar singing a song of thanksgiving. It is this relationship of complete forgiveness and unconditional love and acceptance by God that has us telling others of His wonders. So today, know that you have a God that loves you more than you will ever know. Bask in the warmth of this realization so when your way gets difficult and you experience deep pain, you will be able to experience God’s loving presence and return to the joy you were created for.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for creating me for joy. Thank You for Your unconditional love that fills my heart and causes me, no matter what, to return to joy over and over again.
AMEN

God’s Provision

TODAY’S VERSE
“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:19 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Self reliance. Isn’t that the modern day dream? Actually, it has been that way since the beginning of time. And “faith” seems to go right along with it. We have all sorts of faith when things are going well. But is it faith in God or self reliance? The answer comes when money, health or relational situations start to falter. When things start to fall apart, do we? Does our “faith” go south and fret, worry and fear start to occupy our minds? If so, listen to what Paul is saying. “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” We have a God who loves to provide all our needs. He wants to lavish us with His loving provision. So today, when we feel threatened, when we consider bad news, when something comes up that goes straight to the pit of our stomach, let us stop and consider what Paul wrote, “God will supply all your needs from His glorious riches.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me when I become self reliant and forget that it You that provides everything I need. I need You Lord and I thank You that You will supply all my needs today from Your glorious riches.
AMEN

Protection

TODAY’S VERSE
“My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth! He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber… The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.”
Psalms 121:2, 3, 7, 8 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
I once saw a child crying hysterically, afraid that they were abandoned by their father in a large crowd of people. I remember thinking how odd, because his father was standing right next to him. Something had frightened the son and in his despair, he closed his eyes. As he cried, with his eyes shut, he was not aware of his father’s presence. It was not until the father picked the child up that he opened his eyes and returned to joy. How often are we like that little child? Something frightens us. It could be a confrontation, an anxious thought or worst, some dread of things to come. When our mind gets in that state, faith seems to go out the window. It is as if we stepped out of the presence of God, when in reality what we did was shut our eyes. The Psalmist decided to go into his day with eyes wide open. He writes, “My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth! He will not let you stumble!”  He then affirms his faith by believing, “The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.” Today open your eyes. Wipe away your tears. Look up, the Lord is here! He will watch over you and keep you from harm. Put your trust in Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, make me conscious of Your presence so I will put my faith in Your precious promises. The promise that You will watch over me and protect me. The promise that You will keep me from harm. Help me today, to put my full trust in You and open my eyes to Your power and love.
AMEN

Compound Interest

TODAY’S VERSE
“Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”’ – ‘When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.’ So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
John 6:9, 12-13 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
I love the Lord’s math. He made the whole creation out of nothing! He took the death of one man, Jesus, and is able to forgive the sins of every person that comes to Him. He took the boy’s five loaves and two fishes and fed thousands of people. Can you imagine what He can do with our one life if we dedicated it to Him? God is the God of compound interest! He can take the little that we have and compound it into an eternity of impact for His purposes. Today, do not despair if all you have is a few loaves and fishes. Bring what you have to God. Give Him your life. Consecrate it to Him for His service and then get out of the way! God is waiting to compound the willingness of His people.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You that You can take my life and use it for Your service. I pray, Father, take what I have and multiply it for Your good. I give You my life, here I am Lord, use me.
AMEN

Today

TODAY’S VERSE
“Give us today our daily bread. – Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Matthew 6:11, 34 (NIV)

“This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalms 118:24 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Have you ever noticed how much time we spend on tomorrow? You know, worries, fears, apprehensions; so we plan, connive and obsess  about things that may never happen at all. It is amazing, though, how much God emphasizes that we should live for today. In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus told us to thank God for our “daily” bread. He also said not to worry about tomorrow but to put our focus on today. It was that way with God’s children in the wilderness. God gave them enough food for one day at a time. He told His people, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day.” God provided what they needed for that day, and then they would have to trust Him for the next. That is how He wants us to be. Now there isn’t anything wrong with planning. Jesus, Himself shared about the value of planning before you build a house or go to war. Planning can be a virtue, but Jesus insisted that with all our planning about tomorrow, we include the caveat, “If it be the Lord’s will.” Why? Because God wants us to trust Him! He wants us to experience Him and all His love for us, each and every day. We can only do that if we live each day focusing on God and His will for us. Today, live as if this is the “day that the Lord has made”. He has, you know. He has made this day just for you, so rejoice and be glad in it!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for this day. I pray that I may live it to it’s fullness. Help me discern your will and to be obedient to do it. I pray this in Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Remember

TODAY’S VERSE
“Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ. Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering. – So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will.”
Hebrews 10:32, 35-36 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
It is easy to lose our confident trust in God. We get so wound up in our present situation that we forget that God has been faithful over and over again. This is why the author of Hebrews is warning us to remember what God has done in the past. He says to “Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ.” Remember how you were full of joy over your salvation? Think back to the early years when you took God at His word and trusted Him for mighty things. What has changed? Has God? No! Perhaps you have become more cynical. Perhaps you chalk off your early years as idealism and today you are more realistic about God’s involvement in our affairs? If you are tempted to think that way, listen to today’s passage, “Do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord.” Instead, have patience and endurance. Put your faith in the God who is faithful to you. Trust Him today and continue to do His will.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me to remember all that You have done for me. Help me to remember Your faithfulness. Thank You for what you have done in the past. Help me trust You with today.
AMEN

Trust In God’s Love

TODAY’S VERSE
“We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.”
I John 4:16 (NLT)
TODAY’S MESSAGE
Trust is a beautiful word. According to Merriam-Webster it means, “Assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something.” Now put the word “trust” with the word “love” and you really have a concept. John did just that. He wrote, “We have put our trust in his love.” When is the last time you put your assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of God’s love? John could have suggested putting trust in God’s strength or His power. How about His wisdom? The truth is, when we get God’s love, we get everything else. We get all of God wrapped in His amazing unconditional love. So today when you are tempted to go to no ends to try to solve everything your own way, when you are slipping into anxious thinking or fearful apprehension, stop and trust in His love. Simply trust in all that He is, loving all that you are.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me today to really put my trust in Your love.
AMEN
