Blessings To you

TODAY’S VERSE
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.
II Thessalonians 2:16-17 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Usually, after the worship service, a Pastor will give a benediction. It is a blessing pronounced upon the congregation. A blessing meant to help people have faith and hope in their Christian experience until they meet again. Of course, a benediction itself has no magical powers. It is not meant to be a magic chant. Rather, it is a pronouncement of God’s strength, provision, and ability to guide and protect us during our mission in this world. Paul wrote many wonderful benedictions. Being so far from the churches that he loved, he would write wonderful blessings in order to bring joy and hope in the Lord for all those he loved. In today’s passage, Paul is pronouncing a blessing of comfort and strength upon the church. Power and strength from God in every good thing that they will do and say. Does this sound like something you would want? Today, let God minister to your heart as you read and apply this benediction to your life. “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for Your love, grace, comfort, and hope. I pray that today You would comfort and strengthen me in every good thing I do and say.
AMEN

Perfect Peace

TODAY’S VERSE
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Isaiah 26:3 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It’s easy to fret. We are a predicting machine. Always observing, calculating and predicting the future. Trouble is much of the time our predictions of doom and gloom are wrong. All the worry, fret, precautions are for naught. Most of what we worry about doesn’t happen. But look at all the time wasted. Look at the lost opportunities for joy and peace. Our depression looks at the past. Our anxiety looks at the future. We forget to live in the now. That is why Isaiah said that we should fix our thoughts on God. If we want to experience God’s perfect peace, we need to trust in God. The way we trust in Him is to focus on His love, His strength, His ability. When we focus on His love and power, our worries will pale in comparison. He will keep us in His peace. Like a person sailing a sailboat, when the winds come up and the waves toss us back and forth, keep your eyes on the shore and constantly re-correct your course. You will reach your destination.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, when I begin to worry, help me re-correct my thoughts and meditate on Your love and power. Help me fix my eyes on You and put my trust in You. Thank You, Lord, that the result will be Your peace.
AMEN

Peace To You

TODAY’S VERSE
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe.
Psalms 4:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is God’s will that we live in peace. However, peace can be a relative term. Some would limit it to a “peaceful situation”. Yet many people live in a safe and friendly environment and still live in desperation. The kind of peace that the Bible emphasizes most is a state of mind. It is the inward peace that comes from knowing God is sovereign and that we can trust Him. It is the ability to delay gratification, solutions, answers or understanding and substitute it with hope, trust, and faith in God’s ultimate goodness and love for us. So today, choose peace. May peace fill your day and take you through the night.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I ask for You to flood my heart and my soul with Your peace. Today, may I sense You love and presence and rest myself in You.
AMEN

Don’t Be Weary

TODAY’S VERSE
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Life can get hard. Feelings from inside, forces from outside – it can become overwhelming. David knew this and he was honest in his writings. Sure he eventually brings us into a trusting relationship with God, but not until he displays his raw emotion. He challenges his impression of God by asking, “O LORD, why do you stand so far away? Why do you hide when I am in trouble?” How many times have we been perplexed with our situations and have wanted to say the same thing? And yet somewhere deep in our heart, we know that there must be more. The more is in the wait. It is the “be still and know that I am God.” It is the process of renewal. Isaiah writes, “But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” He uses three glorious metaphors: a high soaring eagle, a person running without getting weary and a person on a long difficult walk and not faint. And how is it we can experience victory even in defeat, peace in turmoil or strength in a long weary journey? The author of Hebrews gives us the answer. He writes, “Let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Might today, you experience all the grace of our loving God that you need so you can rise up with the wings of an eagle and not be weary or faint.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I need You. I need Your grace. I need Your renewal. Today I come to Your throne and wait on You. Be my strength, help me run and not be weary and walk and not faint. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ.
AMEN

Live In Peace

TODAY’S VERSE
Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all! Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
Romans 12:16-18 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
God wants us to live in peace with others. This is easier said than done. Yet as God’s ambassadors, it is imperative that we really try. Ken Sande, the author of “The Peacemaker” writes, “Something significant happens when you decide to follow God’s instructions for relationships, especially His insights on conflict. When you focus on Him and His ways, you do more than cope. When you choose to study and act on God’s plan in every area of your existence, you’re living for His glory. – When you glorify God by doing relationships according to His plan, you’re allowing God to reign in your life. You’re enjoying a powerful connection that alters your whole life. And it’s far more than personal. You’re also giving everyone around you a reason to respect and praise God’s fame.” Conflicts will come, but today choose God’s way of dealing with them. Turn it over to Him. Do as Paul writes, “Live in harmony, don’t be proud, don’t think you know it all, don’t repay evil with evil and do all you can to be at peace with everyone.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I need Your help with relationships. I get so frustrated. I need Your Holy Spirit to guide me and help me love others the way You do. Help me, guide me and empower me I pray in Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Can Or Can’t?

Can or Can’t?

TODAY’S VERSE
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Can or can’t? They are two opposite pathways. They take you to very different places. “Can’t” takes you into the territory of doubt, despair and eventually into hopelessness. We can’t, they can’t, soon we are believing that God can’t. Paul knew this. That is why he spent his life encouraging unbelievers to follow Christ and believers to increase their trusting Christ with their whole life. And Paul was the consummate example! He trusted Christ for everything. And everything is what he expected. That is why he proclaimed, “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Today, decide to join Paul. Make your motto, “Through Christ I can.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me change my “can’t” to “can”. Help me trust in Your strength and not mine. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Peace, Not control

Peace, Not Control

TODAY’S VERSE

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Isaiah 26:3

TODAY’S THOUGHT

Perfect peace. Just the thought of it calms my heart. It is a peace that comes from maturity. It is growing into a feeling of peace from knowing God in deep and intimate ways. I use to think the answer was controlling everything. If I could just control my circumstances I would have peace. I must avoid those things from the past that haunt me. I must keep appearances and not let anyone know the real me. I must worry and try to control the future so I am not a victim again. What a trap. And this lack of peace, this need for control brings all its friends to my front doorstep. Anger, bitterness, jealousy, loneliness, despair, and anxiety they all congregate waiting to get into my mind. How wrong I have been. The more I try to control the more I need to control. Instead with the peace from God in my heart, I no longer have to control. This is perfect peace. Today trust in God. Bring Him all your control issues. He knows your situation. He knows your past and future. Fix your thoughts on Him and His wonderful all providing love for you. Let Him give you a lasting, mature and perfect peace.

TODAY’S PRAYER

Father, I come to You now. I want to experience your peace. I give up control and turn my situation, my life over to You. In Jesus’ name.

AMEN

Approaching God

TODAY’S VERSE
Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.
Ephesians 3:12 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
How do you approach God? It often depends on your presuppositions of who God really is. Is He some mean, unreasonable disciplinarian that is watching your every move? Is God some detached, non-involved creator that has no desire to relate to you? Perhaps your view of God is that of a Santa Claus that you give your wish list to and hope to get nice things in return. Perhaps worse than any of these, the God you worship is unpredictable. You never know if and when God is going to show up and what kind of mood He will be in. What we believe about God has a lot to do with the way we come to Him. In today’s passage, Paul is writing about his faith in God. He says that because of Christ, we can come boldly and confidently into God’s presence. The author of Hebrews says it best. He writes, “So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” So today rejoice and join Paul in saying, “Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for Your love for me. Thank You for the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that has made it possible for me to come boldly to You. So I come to You now Lord, fill me with Your love and grace. In Jesus name.
AMEN

The Gift Of Peace

TODAY’S VERSE
I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What a gift! Jesus said that He was leaving us with a gift, peace of mind and heart. What a gift that we so desperately need. In his book, The Way Of The Warrior, Erwin McManus writes, “With simplicity and wisdom, he cuts between the two things that steal our peace, for the greatest enemies of the peace within are worry and fear. – While worry will rob our joy, fear will steal our freedom – When we are anxious we lose our strength. When we are afraid, we lose our courage.” Who of us doesn’t worry? Who of us doesn’t have fear? Jesus said himself that in this world we will have tribulation! But in today’s verse, Jesus also says that we will have His peace. Paul writes, “ Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Coming to God in prayer is the solution for all our anxiety and troubling fears. It is a wonderful gift from Jesus. The only trouble with a gift is that you have to receive it. Don’t let Jesus’ gift to you sit there unopened! Lay down your worries and fears. Accept His peace today.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, You know how I worry and fear. Today, I come and lay all my worries and fears before you. Take my anxiety, I accept Your gift of peace of my mind and heart.
AMEN

What Is Your God Like?

TODAY’S VERSE
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.
Psalms 18:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What you believe about God makes a difference. Not in God, but in the way you live. Your comprehension of God has everything to do with your faith and hope in this world. Look at what David believed. He saw God as his rock, fortress, savior, protection, shield, power and safety. How do you think this affected his attitude during a crisis? Time and experience had taught David well. All that he went through only made him stronger and deepened his beliefs about the God who is there. The God who cares. The God who is able. What is God to you? Is He your rock, fortress, and protection? Do you come to Him when the world gets too tough? Is God your power? Can you trust in Him to supply all that you need for each and every day? David felt so and so can we. Today, step out in faith. Ask God to reveal Himself to you and give you a fresh faith like David had. When you do, you will find God to be all that you need.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, please reveal Yourself to me. Help me see what David saw. Help me see You as my rock, fortress, savior, protection, shield, power and safety. Help me step out in faith and trust You today. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
