Come To God’s Throne

TODAY’S VERSE
So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
Hebrew 4:14-16 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Sometimes you need a helping hand. You need someone who understands what you are going through and can help you navigate difficult times. Jesus is that intercessor. He is God with all the power and wisdom we need, yet because of His volunteer time spent on earth in human form, He knows exactly what we are going through. He knows all our limitations, frailty, emotions and how to work with them and live a victorious life. He can guide us down the same path of faith, strength, hope and love that He took. So let’s do what the author of Hebrews suggests. Let’s come boldly to our gracious God and ask Him for the help we need today. We will find Him gracious, compassionate and able to help us when we need it the most.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, I come to You because You know all about me. You know my situation. You know my thoughts, my frustrations and my desires. You know my needs. I come to You because You are the Almighty God and can do all things. I give You this day with all of its challenges, struggles and complexities. Make me conscious of Your presence as You meet the deepest needs of my heart and life today. In Jesus’ name.

True Joy

TODAY’S VERSE
It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening.
Psalms 92:1,2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
You can’t eat one meal and say that is enough for the rest of the month. It is not good enough to take one breath and quit. Most of life seems to have a rhythm, a sustainability that comes from repeated processes. So it is with praise and joy. It is not good enough to have had joy once upon a time. You can’t live a victorious Christian life on memories of better days. No, with God, every day has its measure of mercy and grace. Every day has the presence of God. The question is, “Are we aware of it?” If we are going to get all we can out of life, then we need to make a conscious effort to be aware of the presence of God. Nehemiah wrote, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” How true. What better way to find joy than to proclaim His love in the morning and, when the day is over, purposely reflect on His faithfulness?

TODAY’S PRAYER
Praise You, dear God, for Your love for me. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Help me to sing Your praises, to have a heart of gladness and a spirit of thankfulness for all You have done for me. Help me to proclaim Your love every morning and Your faithfulness every night. Might Your joy be my strength today. In Jesus’ name.

Confidence In God’s Help

TODAY’S VERSE
So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:6 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Have you ever said anything with confidence? It is different than saying, “I think so,” “Perhaps,” “Maybe,” or “We’ll see.” Confidence connotes a certainty, an assurance that what we believe is true. Because we believe in a God who will never forsake us, a heavenly Father who will never abandon us, we can have confidence that this same God is our helper, our strength, our shield, our shelter in the storm, our rock of ages, our mighty fortress, our protector, our hope, our Savior. Yes, we can confidently say, “Today, I will not be afraid!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Thank You, Mighty God, for choosing to be my helper. You have reached down to me and assured me that You care and will always have my soul in Your hand. I thank You with confidence that what You say is true and that every thought, fear, apprehension, and doubt that stands against this confidence is a lie. I accept Your help today. I will trust You and not be afraid. In Jesus’ name.

Give This Day To God

TODAY’S VERSE

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Do you start your day hearing a word from God about His unfailing love? Do you start your day trusting in Him? Do you ask Him for direction, protection, and instruction for the tasks ahead of you this day? If not, why not start today? No matter what your yesterdays were or what you fear for tomorrow, nothing stops you from committing this day to God. You can begin a new habit of thanksgiving and expectation today.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, in the quietness of this moment, let me hear You confirm Your unfailing love for me. Right now, I put my complete trust in You. Please show me the way I should go and rescue me from any trouble today. O LORD, I hide myself in You, so please teach me to do Your will. Lead me by Your Spirit, I pray. In Jesus’ name.

Heaven On Earth

TODAY’S MESSAGE
It is impossible to truly understand this life without considering the next life. To comprehend God’s will on earth, we must be conscious of His kingdom and let it influence our thoughts and actions. Nothing really makes sense in this world without a heavenly perspective. Thank God that Jesus was the bridge between the two worlds. He is the resurrection into the next world and the key to life in this one. So today, take time to invite His Kingdom to invade yours. Make room for Heaven in your life. Ask God to make you conscious of His presence right now and to influence all you think and do this day.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I confess I have had my eyes to the ground, busy focusing on my life in this world. I invite You to invade my presence and help me see life from Your perspective. Thank You for Your resurrection and how it provides the way for me to live with You for all eternity. May Your Kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Search Me

TODAY’S VERSE
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Who are we? Who are we that the God of the universe would be interested in a relationship with us? Yet, this is precisely what today’s passage implies. It is an open invitation to you and me to sit before God and pour out our hearts. David knew how prudent it is to let God search our inner thoughts, emotions, and imaginations. We can come to God without reservation and trust that He cares, that He is interested, and that He can show us any correction we need. And the good news is that through this process of being transparent with God, He will lead and direct us. Do you have that kind of relationship with God? If not, you can start today. He stands at the door of your heart and knocks. Open it, and invite Him in so He can lead you in the way you should go.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, it is so hard to say, “Search my heart.” I don’t want to slow down. I don’t want to be vulnerable. But, if I cannot trust You with my heart, who can I trust? Forgive me for running from You. Come, Jesus, search me, know my thoughts, and lead me in the way You want me to go.”

New Thinking Habits

TODAY’S VERSE
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Philippians 4:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
It is so easy to let our thoughts run away from us. You know, the inward chatter that goes on all day. The voice when you get up in the morning, the musing on the drive to work, the stewing over events on the way home. Inner thoughts are powerful. They create emotions, which, in turn, cause actions. Paul is saying that we have to take ownership of our internal dialog. It is so easy to be negative, anxious, angry, doubtful, bitter, or carnal in our thinking. Instead, we need to be responsible for what we think and deliberately focus on true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praise-worthy thoughts. What a difference this discipline would bring to our lives.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, You know my thought process. You know my habitual thinking patterns. I bring them to You. I ask that You help me today begin a habit of focusing on true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praise-worthy thoughts. In Jesus’ name.

The One Thing

TODAY’S VERSE
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
Psalms 27:4 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Have you ever gone somewhere and hated to leave? Have you ever enjoyed something so much that you did not want it to stop? Is there anything in your life that has become that “one thing”? This is what David felt about his relationship with God. If we had to choose a word to describe David, it would be “worshipper.” David really loved God. He was sold out to Jehovah. So much so that if he had to choose just “one thing,” it would be always to worship God. What about you? What role does the worship of God play in your life? Is it just an hour of church on Sunday? That wasn’t enough for David. If he could, he would have stayed in the Temple of God, always worshipping! The good news is that we don’t have to go to a Temple to worship God. We are the temple. Our body is His temple, and our heart is an altar for worship. We can stop anytime, anywhere, and gaze upon His beauty in the quietness of our soul. Bring your praise and adoration to Him in your own temple throughout the day and night. Let loving God and living for Him become your “one thing.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, I admit I have been preoccupied with so many things that worshipping You has taken a back seat in my life. I am so sorry. I do love You. I do want to get my priorities right. Help me know and love You more and more until worshipping You becomes the “one thing” in my life. In Jesus’ name.

Our Real Purpose

TODAY’S VERSE
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Some people search for a lifetime for a purpose. Why am I here? Where can I find meaning? We look for this bigger-than-life significance, and we can’t find it. We search for something that will fill this hollow feeling inside. There is a craving in our soul that we can’t satisfy, a thirst that we cannot quench. It’s like the song says, “We are looking for love (purpose) in all the wrong places.” All the while, the Bible gives a very fundamental answer to the secret of life satisfaction. Paul sums up our purpose in a straightforward verse. You and I will never be happy, never feel fulfilled until we figure out what Paul is saying. He says that you and I are the workmanship of God, His masterpiece! A specific, personally made creation by almighty God Himself. More than that, we were created for this one simple thing: to do good works! That’s it. Our meaning, purpose, and life satisfaction come from living for God, loving in His name, and doing good because He created us specifically to do good. What joy, purpose, and meaning to know that we are hand-picked agents of God’s good in this world. Do you believe this? Are you living this? If not, you can start today!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear God, help me to fully understand what it means to be Your workmanship, created for good works. Help me comprehend that You really know me, love me deeply, and have specifically called me to be Your representative. Thank You for such a glorious calling. Help me today to do Your good works, which You prepared me to do before I was born. You are my creator; I am Your servant. In Jesus’ name.

All The Strength You Need

TODAY’S VERSE
I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Strength is the energy that God gives us to complete a task. It is what helps us endure to the end. Strength is also what helps us resist negative forces. What better place to get strength than from God? He can provide all the strength we need to do what He has called us to do. Need to love someone who is unlovely? Ask Him for strength. Need to forgive someone who hurt you deeply? Ask Him for strength. Have to do something that seems impossible? Ask Him for strength. Is fear crippling you, depression strangling you? Ask Him for strength. Paul said, “I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.” We can experience the same reality that Paul did. How? Paul answered that in his letter to the Ephesians. He wrote, “I pray that out of his glorious riches, he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.” Today, ask Him for strength.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Almighty God, I need Your strength. I can’t live the life You want me to without it. Please help me, Father. Give me all the strength I need to do all that You ask me to do. Today, strengthen me with Your power through the Holy Spirit, I pray. In Jesus’ name.
