Come In Jesus

TODAY’S VERSE
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”
Revelation 3:20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
I have always loved this metaphor. Here is Jesus coming to the door of my heart and knocks. What a deliberate move. Jesus is so vitally interested in me, in you, that He comes to us and bids to come in. And to do what? Investigate every nook and cranny in order to scorn and shame us? No, He knocks so we can invite Him in because He wants to “share a meal together as friends!” In his book, “The Deeper Journey”, M. Robert Mulholland Jr. writes, “God comes into the core of our being. God comes to bring light into darkness, cleansing into our sin, life into our deadness, healing into our brokenness, and liberation into our bondage; to nurture us there into wholeness in the very image of God.” And so today He knocks. Now a door can be a huge barrier or it can be an entrance into a whole new adventure. But what is a door amongst friends? Listen, can you hear His footsteps? Jump up, quick answer the door, Jesus is here to visit with you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Jesus, thank You for knocking on my door. I hear You and open up my heart. Please, Jesus, come in and fellowship with me today.
AMEN

Living Love

TODAY’S VERSE
“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.”
Romans 12:10 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
In Romans 12, Paul outlines the Christian life. He tells us to present ourself as a living sacrifice to God. Then tells us how to do it. It is through loving one another. Love is our insignia. It is the distinguishing mark of Christianity. Paul says that we are to be devoted to one another in brotherly love. A love that puts others above ourself. It is this form of community that the world is looking for. It is this kind of love that completes us as human beings. The unconditional love that we offer each other allows us to mature into the kind of people God has called us to be. Praise God that you have been called into this wonderful fraternity called His church. Bless God that you can be part of a fellowship where you love each other dearly putting the needs of each other above your own. Today follow Jesus, making this kind of love your priority.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I thank You for Your love for me. Thank You that You have called me to the same kind of love. Help me devote myself to others around me. Help me honor others above myself. Help me love like You do.
AMEN

God Is So Good

TODAY’S VERSE
“O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help. Listen closely to my prayer, O LORD; hear my urgent cry. I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble, and you will answer me.”
Psalms 86:5-7 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
When you pray, what are you conscious of? Are you aware of God and all His wonderful attributes? David was. He knew that when he was in trouble he could cry to God and that God would answer him. He believed deep in his heart that God was good. God was ready to forgive him of any and every sin. He knew that God was full of unfailing love. What do you believe about God? Today, think about God and all His goodness. Meditate on His faithful love and His mercy toward you. Let God’s attributes burn into your heart until you can say with David, “I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble, and you will answer me.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
God, You are so good. You are all loving. You are full of mercy and forgiveness. Thank You for hearing my prayers and answering me when I call.
AMEN

Live At Peace

TODAY’S VERSE
“Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all! Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.”
Romans 12:16-18 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
God wants us to live in harmony with others. This is easier said than done. Yet as God’s ambassadors it is imperative that we really try. Ken Sande, the author of “The Peacemaker” writes, “Something significant happens when you decide to follow God’s instructions for relationships, especially His insights on conflict. When you focus on Him and His ways, you do more than cope. When you choose to study and act on God’s plan in every area of your existence, you’re living for His glory. – When you glorify God by doing relationships according to His plan, you’re allowing God to reign in your life. You’re enjoying a powerful connection that alters your whole life. And it’s far more than personal. You’re also giving everyone around you a reason to respect and praise God’s fame.” Conflicts will come, but today choose God’s way of dealing with them. Turn it over to Him, live in harmony, don’t be proud, don’t think you know it all, don’t repay evil with evil and do all you can to be at peace with everyone.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I need Your help with relationships. I get so frustrated. I need Your Holy Spirit to guide me and help me love others the way You do. Help me, guide me and empower me I pray in Jesus’ name.
AMEN

The Joy Of His Presence

TODAY’S VERSE
“You have given him the joy of being in your presence.”
Psalms 21:6 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
What a gift. God has actually put the capacity to experience His presence in us. Like an antenna picks up the signal sent to it, God has put His Holy Spirit within us, enabling us to experience Him. But no antenna in the world would pick up a signal, if none were sent. This passage is more about God than us. It is God that sends His presence out to us. It is God that desires our fellowship. It is His grace that causes Him to seek us out. Does that grab you? Let me say it again, the God of the universe not only allows us an audience with Him, He comes to us and seeks us out! And when we respond, we find out what David knew. There is extreme joy being in His presence.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for seeking me out. Thank You for allowing me to enjoy Your presence. I pray that I may experience the joy of Your presence more and more.
AMEN

Love Others

TODAY’S VERSE
“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.”
Matthew 7:12 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Can it get any clearer? Love is the essence of Christianity. It is God’s message to mankind. He loves us! And it is our calling to follow His example. We must love each other. Jesus takes all of the law in the Old Testament and boils it down to its essence and what does He get? He gets love. What does God require of us? He wants us to treat others in the very same way that we want to be treated. We are to love others in very real and practical ways. When we do, God is glorified. He is honored and people are drawn to Him, the One who loves us so much that we can’t help but love others in return.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for loving me so much. Thank You for Your grace and mercy in my life. Help me love others in the same way that You love me. The same way I would want them to treat me. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Grace, Love and Fellowship

TODAY’S VERSE
“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”
II Corinthians 13:13 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
What a wonderful God we have. He could have set creation in motion and ignored the human species. He could have given up on mankind with all the rebellion we have given Him. Instead, God has made us the object of His affection, the crown jewels of His creation. And as a Triune God He has purposely given us everything we need to have a relationship with Him. As God the Son, He has given us grace through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As God, He is love, so He shares His own love with us. As a Spirit, God is able to fellowship with us in a way that is compatible to the way we think and feel. Grace, love and fellowship. Today, spend time with God and get to know His whole self and what He has for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, I thank You that You have manifested Yourself in ways that I can understand. Thank You for Your love, grace and fellowship through Father, Son and Spirit.
AMEN

Restore Me

TODAY’S VERSE
“They tell the seers, ‘Stop seeing visions!’ They tell the prophets, ‘Don’t tell us what is right. Tell us nice things. Tell us lies. Forget all this gloom. Get off your narrow path. Stop telling us about your Holy One of Israel.’”
Isaiah 30:10-11 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Have you ever been at the place where the last thing you want to hear is a word from God? You know, nothing like a “twinge of conscience” to ruin a “good time.” Who needs a sermon that meddles in our affairs? That is what the children of Israel felt like. They wanted to abolish visions and prophetic messages. Instead they wanted the prophets to tell them nice lies. They didn’t want gloom and doom. They didn’t want to live in the narrow way. It’s easy to get this way. It starts slowly, like a frog in boiling water. If we knew the attitude we were cultivating was going to reach the boiling point we would never allow it to grow, but apathy never starts out that strong. It is subtle. It is a slow process. We become too busy for Spiritual discipline. We begin to fill our mind with television and internet. Work and other affairs begin to distance us from church and fellowship with other Christians. Our conscience begins to convict us but we find it easier and easier to ignore. Where are you? Do you feel far from God? Who moved? God is always there, His love for you in unconditional. Turn to Him today while there is time. Before your heart gets to hardened, tell God how sorry you are. Repent, come back to God and you will find Him there. He is ready to forgive you and restore you to a real and relevant fellowship with Himself.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, You know how far I have wandered from You. Forgive me. I desire today to renew my fellowship with You. Restore my heart. I want to hear Your voice. I desire to do Your will. Hear me dear Lord, guide and direct me I pray, in Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Unity

TODAY’S VERSE
“I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
John 17:23 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Unity is supposed to be the trademark of the Church. It is our community, love and fellowship for all believers is what should draw people to Christ. This was Jesus’ desire. He prayed that we would be one like He and His Father were one. He said, “May they (that’s the church) be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” What changes could we make in our own corner of the world, if each church would work together to meet the needs of those around us? We have so much in common. We have the Bible, God the Father, Jesus His son and the Holy Spirit. We have similar thoughts, feelings, and objectives too, but we never are intentional about reaching out. Instead we create our “Country Clubs Churches” where similarity, status and exclusiveness are our trademarks. How many churches today still refer to themselves by the nationality that founded them a hundred years ago? How many churches have congregations that match the cultural diversity of their community? Can you imagine if church would start to resemble restaurants and malls where people come and congregate together. This would send a tremendous message to the world. And the church needs this kind of diverse yet unified message if we are going to reach the world. Today, may Jesus’ prayer be ours. “May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I confess that I have not reached out to other churches in love. I have not fellowshipped with other believers. I have not been active in pursuing relationships with those from different backgrounds as mine. Forgive me for not seeking unity. Help me to strive to bring Your message to the world through a unified church.
AMEN

Emotional Healing

TODAY’S VERSE
“Save me, O God, for the floodwaters are up to my neck. Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire; I can’t find a foothold. I am in deep water, and the floods overwhelm me. I am exhausted from crying for help; my throat is parched. My eyes are swollen with weeping, waiting for my God to help me.” –  “Let all who seek God’s help be encouraged. For the LORD hears the cries of the needy.”
Psalms 69: 1-3, 32-33 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
We all go through struggles and hard times. Life is not fair. There are times of sadness, despair and regret. The Psalmist paints a picture of someone trapped in an emotional downward spiral. Everything seems overwhelming and yet in the end they were able to say that there is encouragement in seeking God’s help. Why? Because God hears us. In the book, “Living From The Heart Jesus Gave You” the authors talk of two types of trauma that brings the kind of despair that we read in today’s passage. There is the trauma of “not getting what we need” and then there is the trauma of “getting something that we should have never received.” The first is the result of neglect and abandonment, the second from abuse. But the good news is that God hears us in our despair and He can help us. The authors write, “Life brings each of us inescapable traumas that block maturity. God’s redemptive activity comes to us in two ways: He brings healing to our traumas, and adopts us into His family. Both ways boost us through our blocks to maturity, along the way to wholeness, With these boosts, we will be able to live from the hearts He gave us, our true identities will emerge, and our relationships with family and community will be characterized by joy.” Today, praise God for His healing. It is there for you as you bring your pain to Him. Also, praise God for His family. It is through the fellowship and love from each other that we are made whole and can experience the joy He has for us.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for hearing my cries. Thank You for Your desire to heal me from my traumas. Thank You for making me part of Your family where I can experience the love and fellowship that will bring me into maturity. I commit myself to You for my complete healing. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
