With God I Can

TODAY’S VERSE
“You light a lamp for me. The LORD, my God, lights up my darkness. In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.”
Psalms 18:28-29 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
David’s faith in God is infectious. He shares how dire his situation is when he writes, “The ropes of death entangled me; floods of destruction swept over me. The grave wrapped its ropes around me; death laid a trap in my path.” And yet David trusts in God. Not just trust, David gushes with optimism. Verse after verse gives hope in the God who cares, the God who is able. When there is darkness in his life, God provides light. When there is an army, God gives him strength. When there is a wall in front of him, God enables him to scale it. David writes, “God arms me with strength, and he makes my way perfect. He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights.” We have problems, struggles abound and difficulties are all around; but today, trust in God like David did. Put your faith in Him. He will make a way.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear God Almighty, I need Your strength today. I need Your light in my darkness, I need Your help to scale the walls in front of me. Lord, give me the faith I need so I can say with confidence, “With God I can.”
AMEN

AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
With God I can
Quiet your heart before God. Invite the Holy Spirit to fill you with faith. Imagine yourself in darkness and slowly picture God bringing in light. Picture a large overwhelming wall in front of you. See yourself asking God to fill your heart with confidence. Feel your self becoming energized with strength and then scale the wall. Feel the joy as God meets your need. Repeat: With God I can.

You Are His Delight

TODAY’S VERSE
“The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Some thoughts are so powerful, they can change your life. Or at least they should. This passage is that way. If you can read, “He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing” and not feel special, not feel like God adores you, not be moved to gratitude and thankfulness for His attention toward you, then you need to read it again. If you can read, “The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save you” and not feel secure, special and in a safe place, then you need to stop, ask God to speak to your heart, and read this verse over. Today’s verse can change your life, if you let it.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Who am I, Dear God,  that You would shower me with such attention? And yet, even with my doubt and feeble faith, today I choose to believe You. I choose to believe that I am a delight to You and that You rejoice over me. Quiet my heart with Your love, help me see with my imagination Your smile of acceptance and sense Your warm embrace of love and hear my name in Your singing. In Jesus’ name. AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
God takes delight in me
Close your eyes imagining yourself in a quiet peaceful place. Breathe deep and exhale. As you relax, ask God to make you conscious of His presence. Let Him quiet you with His love. Picture God with you and hear Him say, “I delight in you.”  A you sense His presence, hear Him rejoicing over you with singing. Praise Him for His love for you.

God Hears Me

 TODAY’S VERSE
“But in my distress I cried out to the LORD; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears.
Psalms 18:6 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
I love hope. I need hope. Everyday is new and so are the challenges. And there are a lot of things we can do to help ourself get through the morass of issues and concerns that face us. There are a lot of different techniques and systems that will help us. New ways of thinking, new tools. But one thing surpasses every coping mechanism, every strategy, every method of problem solving. It is our relationship with God. David knew this. He was a doer. He knew how to solve problems, yet when he was in severe crises, there was one place he went to over and over again. He went to God. He went to the arms of his good shepherd. And God heard him. He writes, “Yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears.” His cries reached the ears of Heaven. So will yours. Today, don’t stop whatever is helping you but add to it the one thing that can make all the difference. In all your striving add hope. Cry out to the Lord, you will reach His ears.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I come to You. I come and present all my needs, all my concerns. I cannot make it without You. I cry out and I know You hear me. Comfort me even today, Lord. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
God hears my prayers
Close your eyes and picture yourself before God, hands stretched out, humbly sharing your needs and concerns. Picture God looking at you with joy and understanding. Sense His concern and love for you. Breathe deep and as you exhale say, “Thank you, God, for hearing me.”

More Than A Father

TODAY’S VERSE
“And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, ‘Abba, Father.’”
Galatians 4:6 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
What a tender thought. Paul was very deliberate in using “Abba Father.” This is a more affectionate term than “Father.” The real translation of “Abba Father” is “Daddy!” God invites us to call Him “Daddy.” Can you say that? Have you thought of Him that way? Paul says that as God’s children, He has given us His Spirit and the job of the Spirit is to help us fall more and more in love with the Father until we realize that  He is our “Daddy.” Will you let Him do that? Will you begin to meditate, to really stop and consider that He is your loving affectionate Father? Imagine His deep love for you. Imagine you coming into His presence, calling Him “Daddy”. Ask God to help you know this reality deep in your heart, that God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I want to call you “Daddy”. I hear it in my head, but it isn’t quite in my heart. I invite You, Holy Spirit, to speak to my heart, to help me feel the Father’s love, to know the Father’s love. Prompt me, Holy Spirit, to call God, “Dear Father, Dear Daddy.”
AMEN

Do You Hear?

TODAY’S VERSE
“Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.”
Isaiah 40:28-29 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
God was frustrated with His people. They had wandered far from Him. They would not listen to God so He sent His prophet Isaiah to ask the people, “Have you never heard? Have you never understood?” We would do well to ask ourselves these questions whenever we read God’s word. We get so busy, so inwardly focused, that even when we read His word, we do not hear. We do not understand. We don’t begin to fathom the ramifications of the tremendous promises He gives us. In today’s passage God wanted to emphasis His patience, love, strength and commitment toward those in need. The prophet writes, “The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.” Unlike the Israelites, did you hear it? Did you understand? God is GOD! And God never grows weary of you. He wants to love and help you. He is never weak, not for a second! And He has all the power to help you in your situation. He fully understands where you are and wants to give you all the strength you will ever need to face the situation you are in. Rest assured God gives His power to us when we are totally weak and powerless. Today, might we hear His voice and understand His great love for us.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father God, help me to hear You. Help me to understand the depths of Your word. Help me know Your truth. Guide me by Your Holy Spirit, I pray.
AMEN

His Unconditional Love

TODAY’S VERSE
“Look at my Servant, whom I have chosen. He is my Beloved, who pleases me. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not fight or shout or raise his voice in public.
He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. Finally he will cause justice to be victorious. And his name will be the hope of all the world.”
Matthew 12:18-21 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
You can tell a religion by the God it follows. We follow Jehovah who made Himself a man in the person of Christ Jesus. He could have chosen to come as a ruler, a dictator, a mighty military leader or a tyrant. Instead, He came to earth in the person of Jesus. Isaiah says that Jesus came to proclaim justice. He came to be our hope. He did not come to crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering flame. What a picture Isaiah is painting. Here we are – many times messy, needy and weak. We get beat up, confused, tempted and tired. What does Jesus do? Does He step all over us? Does He crush the reeds? No, not even a faint brush to disturb them. Does He rant and rave? Does He blow out the littlest bit of a flame that we have left? No, He does nothing that would cause the flame to go out. His name is Hope! Hope what our soul thirsts for. Today, hope in His unconditional love for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, what a picture of Your love for me! I need Your love. I need Your understanding, Your mercy and Your total forgiveness. I fully receive them right now. I praise You for Your kindness. I shout with joy even now for Your unconditional love for me. Thank you, Jesus. My hope is in you! In You Holy name I pray.
AMEN

The One Thing

TODAY’S VERSE
“One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.”
Psalms 27:4 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Have you ever went somewhere and hated to leave? Have you ever enjoyed something so much that you did not want it to stop? Is there anything in your life that has become that “one thing”? This is what David felt about his relationship with God. If we had to choose a word to describe David, it would be  “worshipper.” David really loved God. He was sold out to Jehovah. So much so that if he had to choose just “one thing,” it would be to worship God all the time. What about you? What role does the worship of God play in your life? Is it just an hour of church on Sunday? That wasn’t enough for David. If he could, he would have stayed in the Temple of God worshipping all the time! The good news is that we don’t have to go to a Temple to worship God. We are the temple. Our body is His temple and our heart is an altar for worship. We can stop anytime, anywhere and gaze upon His beauty in the quietness of our own soul. Bring your praise and adoration to Him in your own temple throughout the day and night. Let loving God and living for Him become your “one thing.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, I admit I have been preoccupied with so many things that worshipping You has taken a back seat in my life. I am so sorry. I do love You. I really do want to get my priorities right. Help me know and love You more and more until worshipping You becomes the “one thing” in my life. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

A Sense of Blessing and Well Being

TODAY’S VERSE
“Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close.”
Psalm 27:10 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
At first glimpse this verse may not seem like it has much depth. But if we really understand its meaning, it can change our lives. In his book Experiencing Healing Prayer Rick Richardson shares, “From our mother we get our sense of being and well being. From our father we get a sense of blessing.” The trouble is that none of us go through our childhood unscathed. No parent can completely meet all our needs. If our mother or father is controlling, absent, abusive, distant or exhibits any number of other negative traits, it can result in a struggle with affirmation and self esteem. But what can we do? Do we have to be a victim to a fallen world? Today’s verse gives us the answer. “Even if our father and mother abandon us, the Lord will hold us close.” When we understand our true relationship with God, we will be able to receive our sense of being and well being from Him. When we really comprehend how much He loves and approves of us, we will live our life from a deep sense of blessing that He has for us. Celebrating who we are in Christ can help us rise above our circumstances and go beyond the limits of our childhood.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I thank You for Your deep, deep love for me. I thank You that You created me for a purpose. I thank You that I am not a mistake. Because of Your love for me, I can really feel good about myself. I receive a sense of well being from knowing that I am a blessing to You. Thank You, Lord, no matter what my past, what my parents may have done, I can come to You with my needs. When I do, You will hold me close.  In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

He Will Intercede

TODAY’S VERSE
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.”
Romans 8:26 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Have you ever had anyone intercede for you? Sometimes when you are in situation and because of the circumstances, someone else is a better choice to represent your needs. Perhaps a lawyer, customer service representative, a trusted friend or medical professional? When they are qualified and earnest, it is a beautiful thing to watch. And we need help. Here we are, trying to live our life, one person amongst billions of others. We have great needs but who will help us? Who can understand our plight? Who would care enough for us to do something? Who would have the power to effect any change? Paul tells us who. He writes, “The Spirit helps us in our weakness.” Thank God the Father for His Holy Spirit. He is the one who intercedes for our weaknesses and needs in this life. Even when we don’t know how to pray, the Holy Spirit passionately groans and pleads our case to God the Father. What compassion, what mercy. Even now come to the Holy Spirit with your hidden secrets, your most perplexing problems, your most heinous sins, your deepest need. When you do, He will intercede, and when He does, He will bring peace and deep joy to your heart.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Holy Spirit, I come to You just as I am, desperate and needy for Your touch. You know my situation. I need You to intercede for me to God the Father. To Him, who can do all things. To Him, who is all love and all power. Dear Holy Spirit, I give You control of my life. Guide me, direct me, fill me with Your peace and power. I pray this in Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Experiencing His Presence

TODAY’S VERSE
“I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.”
Psalms 16:7, 8 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
There is one prayer that has made all the difference in my life. It is one I pray over and over again. It is a form of discipline, for if I don’t pray this prayer, I will not keep my spiritual vitality. The prayer is simple and yet powerful. It is, “Lord, make me conscious of Your presence.” Being conscious of God’s presence makes all the difference in the world. Because David was conscious of the fact that God was always with him, right beside him, he was not shaken during life’s struggles. Instead, God guided him and instructed his heart at night. How about you and I? What if today we were conscious of God right next to us? What if we knew that He was in the same room we were? What if we sensed that He heard our thoughts and prayers and would answer the questions we have? What if we experienced His comforting presence when we are under pressure? What if we knew He was present to hold our hand when we had that extremely difficult task to do? God is. God is always with us. Let us be conscious of His presence in all that we do today.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear God, thank You for being with me constantly. Please make me aware of Your presence today. Help me to see how relevant You are to my life. Help me really know that You are always with me, in fact, right beside me. Father, open my eyes to see You, my ears to hear You and my heart to sense Your very presence.
AMEN
