A Clear Conscience

TODAY’S VERSE
“Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.”
I Timothy 1:19 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
If we want to live a joyful Christian life then we need to keep our conscience clear. We have a large propensity toward rationalizing away our attitudes and behavior. We will do anything to keep from feeling guilt over something we have done. We bury any negative emotions and before you know it our conscience has been seared. But the truth is we end up paying a toll for our lack of repentance. If not careful we will be like the person in today’s passage, our faith will become shipwrecked. Instead, God offers us grace. When He convicts us of sin, all He asks is that we repent, confess our sins to Him and accept His forgiveness and unconditional love. What is it that has alienated you from God or other people? Today, bring it to God. Confess it and ask His forgiveness. Keep your conscience clear.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me keep my conscience clear with You. Convict me of sin and by Your grace, lead me to repentance. Thank You, that if I confess my sins, You are faithful and willing to forgive me of every transgression.
AMEN

TODAY’S VISUALIZATION & MEDITATION
I keep my conscience clear
Picture yourself going through your day with a visible presence of God. Something irritates you and your lose your temper. You notice God and you sense that what you did is wrong. However, it is not a heavy guilt but a deep love that compels you to tell Him how sorry you are. You dialog with God and commit to different behavior. You feel His forgiveness. You sense His deep love. You are glad to have this kind of relationship because it keeps your conscience clear.

Purpose

TODAY’S VERSE
“I cry out to God Most High, to God who will fulfill his purpose for me.”
Psalms 57:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
I can understand God’s purpose for Michael the Archangel. I understand when God chooses a Moses, Abraham or David to do His will. I can comprehend Jesus picking twelve disciples to follow Him. God choosing Paul to be a great missionary makes perfect sense. What completely mystifies me however, is that God has a purpose for me! Not only does God have a purpose for me, His purpose is to fulfill that purpose. Now you try. Read today’s passage and put yourself in the picture. God will fulfill His purpose for you! Can you get a sense of what that means? Perhaps you are thinking, “I’m nobody special.”  Sorry but God thinks you are! “I don’t have special skills.” You have exactly what God wants you to have. “I have done too many wrong things.” God’s grace is greater than all your wrong doing. “I can’t do anything out of the ordinary.” All God asks you to do is show up and be willing to live for Him. He will do the rest. Stop and hear God saying to you, “I am so glad I created you! I am so excited about you living out your purpose.” Today, cry out to God and surrender yourself to Him. Purpose in your heart to live out the purpose He has for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I surrender my life to You. Use me, live through me. Guide me and help me fulfill Your purpose for my life.
AMEN

TODAY’S VISUALIZATION & MEDITATION
God has a purpose for me
Today meditate on significance. What does it mean? Significance comes from purpose. Feel in your heart what it means to know that God has a purpose for you. Picture God looking at you with the full knowledge that He made you for a purpose. Sense His pleasure in you. Feel His confidence in you. Picture His strength fill you as you live out His purpose for you.

Full Understanding

TODAY’S VERSE
“May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.”
II Thessalonians 3:5 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Do we understand our daily situations the way God does? Do we see through His eyes? In today’s passage Paul wrote, “May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding of the love of God.” This wasn’t just any understanding it is a “full” understanding. And it was more that understanding. It was an understanding that expresses itself in God’s love and patience. What an amazing treasure this would be. To have our hearts tuned into the beat of the Saviors. To be able to stand with God, fully understanding through Christ, the way of His love and patience. When you truly see the situations you are in through Christ’s eyes, He will lead you to His loving ways. It will always be about His love. This is turn will result in patient endurance. Today, let the Lord lead your heart into a full understanding and expression of God’s love and patience. Try to see the world you live and work in through His eyes. Let God’s vision and love permeate everything you do.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, give me spiritual vision. Help me see what You see today. Lead my heart into a full understanding and expression of Your love and patience so I can apply it to my life and those around me. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
God is helping me more fully understand and express His love and patience
Envision yourself struggling with daily situations. If there were no people you would be fine. You can feel the burden of so much drama. Sense the struggle you are having being more loving and patient. Invite Jesus to come and give you a better understanding of His love and patience. As you do, sense that He desires to synch your heart with His. Picture yourself walking throughout the day with more love, more patience. Sense His presence alive in your heart. Affirm that God is helping you more fully understand and express His love and patience.

What Fruit Are You?

TODAY’S VERSE
“By their fruit you will recognize them.”
Matthew 7:20 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Not all things are what they seem. Jesus once cursed a fig tree that gave the impression that it was bearing fruit, when in fact it was barren. There was something about “saying one thing” and “doing another” that really got to Jesus. Whether it was the Pharisees that posed as religious zealots but knew nothing of the righteousness God was interested in, or a false prophet that pretended to know what God wanted to say and led people down the wrong path. Jesus would rather be with a prostitute, tax collector or lepers that sincerely repented than those that had the pretence of faith. Jesus simply said it this way. “You can tell a tree by the fruit it produces.” Peach tree? Peaches. Apple tree? Apples. Christians? The fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Today, when people look at your life what fruit will they see?

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I pray that the Holy Spirit will bear His fruit in my life, so when people see me, they will glorify You.
AMEN

TODAY’S VISUALIZATION & MEDITATION
The Holy Spirit produces His fruit in my life
See yourself in a beautiful garden. There is plenty of sunshine, healthy rains and good soil. As you walk through the garden you see all the many exotic plants. Then you come to a special place, the fruit of the Spirit garden. As you walk in you can feel your soul respond to God’s love. It is a good place. As you spend time with God in the garden you experience the different fruit growing in you. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness faithfulness, gentleness and self-control all begin to mature and influence your life. You affirm, “The Holy Spirit produces His fruit in my life.”

He Is Our Guide

TODAY’S VERSE
“I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me.”
Psalms 16:7 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever had a deeply complex situation, way over your head, you were not sure what you were going to do, and then someone who was very familiar with your situation, showed you the way out? What a blessing! There is nothing worst than being in a deep forest and not know where you are. How thankful I was to have a guide who knew every square inch of the deep terrain we were in. It is that way in life. Every day has new challenges. Just when you think you know the terrain, you turn a corner and “bam” you don’t know where you are. Panic, frustration, doubt and fear start to set in and then you remember, “Why am I worried? The Lord is my guide!” And He is. David believed this. He knew what it was to depend on God. He knew what it was to be in circumstances where he wasn’t sure which way to turn. So he blessed the Lord who was his guide. This same God who instructed him during the night. Today, try it. Let God guide you. Call out to Him for wisdom, instruction, help and strength for all you do. He will be your guide.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, be my guide. I need Your wisdom, Your strength, Your guidance. Thank You, Lord, that You love me and long for me to come to You for help. I come now, Lord Jesus.
AMEN

TODAY’S VISUALIZATION & MEDITATION
Christ guides my life
You are deep in the woods. You are overwhelmed with vastness of the forest and you lose your bearings. Panic starts to set in. You are lost. You have to do something. Just when you are ready to make a guess at what to do, over the horizon comes your guide. He knows the way home. Feel the relief. Sense the joy as you know that the guide knows the way out of the wilderness. All you have to do is follow. Now see life as the wilderness and Christ as the guide. Let Him guide your life and direct your path.

He Will Intercede

TODAY’S VERSE
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.”
Romans 8:26 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Have you ever had anyone intercede for you? Sometimes when you are in situation and because of the circumstances, someone else is a better choice to represent your needs. Perhaps a lawyer, customer service representative, a trusted friend or medical professional? When they are qualified and earnest, it is a beautiful thing to watch. When they are inept or insincere, watch out! Now here we are, trying to live our life, one person amongst billions of others. We have great needs but who will help us? Who can understand our plight? Who would care enough for us to do something? More than caring, who would have the power to effect any change? Thank God the Father for His Holy Spirit who intercedes for our weaknesses and needs in this life. Even when we don’t know how to pray, the Holy Spirit passionately groans and pleads our case to God the Father. What compassion, what mercy. Even now come to God the Father with your hidden secrets, your most perplexing problems, your most heinous sins. The Holy Spirit will intercede for you, and when He does, He will bring peace and deep joy to your heart.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I come to You just as I am, desperate and needy for Your touch. I need Your help. You know my situation. I need Your Holy Spirit to intercede for me with groans that I cannot even utter. Holy Spirit, guide me, direct me, fill me with Your peace and power. I pray this in the name of Jesus.
AMEN

TODAY’S MEDITATION & VISUALIZATION
The loving Holy Spirit helps me in my weaknesses
Visualize yourself in much difficulty. You are in distress. You feel anxious, tired, confused and frustrated. At the same time see the Holy Spirit coming to God the Father on your behalf. You watch and are amazed at His sensitivity to your needs. His earnestness and compassion are overwhelming. As you listen, you sense a real peace and a deep feeling that you are loved. Without holding back, the Holy Spirit pleads on your behalf. Joy fills your heart as you know that you are loved and cared for. You affirm, “The loving Holy Spirit helps me in my weaknesses.”

A Solid Foundation

TODAY’S VERSE
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”
II Timothy 2:15
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”
Matthew 7:24-25

TODAY’S MESSAGE
It matters what you build your life on. Both Jesus and Paul agreed, you need to build your life on the truth of the Bible. Not just knowing the truth, but living the truth. Jesus said, “Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them in practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Paul wrote that we should be a “workman that does not need to be ashamed, who correctly handles the word of truth.” If we want our life to be established on firm ground, then we need to be grounded in His word. We need to read the Bible, study it and then apply it to our life. We need to live what we read. When we do, we will find that life will stand the tests of time.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I want to live my life on solid ground. I want to be able to stand firm when I go through hard times. Help me to read Your word and understand its meaning. Help me to live what You tell me to do. I want to be a workman that does not need to be ashamed, who correctly handles Your word of truth! In Jesus’ name. AMEN

TODAY’S MEDITATION & VISUALIZATION
I build my life on the Word of God
Picture yourself reading the Bible. As you meditate on it’s meaning you sense the Holy Spirit teaching you and sharing truth with you. You sense an area of life that needs change. You hear a word of comfort. You see a way to heal a circumstance. You feel the presence of God as you read verse after verse. God is teaching you, guiding you, correcting you and you feel a deep sense of joy. You affirm, “I build my life on the Word of God!”

Maturity

TODAY’S VERSE
“Until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.”
Ephesians 4:13 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
As a Christian, maturity is something to be aspired. It is not an automatic by-product of salvation. Jesus brings us salvation and we are “born again”. We become a new creature in Christ, but this is the beginning. Now we are committed to a maturing process. As children we are to mature into adulthood. As Christians, we are to grow into Christ. This is why Paul says that God has given us, “apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.” He writes, “Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.” As we subject ourselves to the teaching and authority to those that Christ has given to us, we will mature in the Lord. Christ has come to give us life and give it more abundantly. This means He has come to help us mature. Where are you in your maturity? Have you missed a stage in your human development and need to mature in that area? Are you immature when it comes to certain emotions like anger, sadness, longing or fear? Does God need to do a work in your life? Ask Him to show you where you need to mature. Ask Him to guide you and help you be all that He intends you to be.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, point out my immaturities. I want to grow in You. I want to be all that You want me to be. So please, show me where I need to grow and mature and then show me how. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S MEDITATION & VISUALIZATION
I am maturing in Christ
Picture yourself in the presence of Christ. You sense that He knows all about you. He knows your shortcomings but instead of fear or dread, you experience a caring connection with Him. You can tell from His demeanor that He loves you and wants you to mature. Instead of shame or chastisement, He bids you to come to Him, follow Him and allow Him guide you into maturity. You say, “Yes Lord!” and affirm, “I am maturing in Christ.”

What Should I Do?

TODAY’S VERSE
“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”
James 1:5 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Sometimes you hit a wall. Something comes along and has you completely baffled. You have no answers. Nothing makes sense. There doesn’t seem to be any reason to what is happening. What can you do? James offers a solution. He says, “Ask God for wisdom.” So, when your are perplexed, upset and worried, stop, wait on God and cry out to Him. God cares and He promises that He will generously give you wisdom.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I need wisdom. I need Your guidance and understanding. You have promised that You will give wisdom to me generously.  I come to You in faith asking You to give me that wisdom today. In Jesus’ name. AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
When I ask, God will give me wisdom
Visualize yourself in a perplexing situation. You feel the pressure. Stress is building up and no matter what you do, there doesn’t seem to be an answer to your dilemma. See yourself asking God for wisdom. Feel His joy as you come to Him. Sense His presence and full attention toward your situation. He nudges you, gives you a sense of direction, inspires you and you begin to move with faith toward a solution. Affirm, “When I ask, God will give me wisdom.”

Fear No More

TODAY’S VERSE
“I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.”
Psalm 34:4 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Fear comes in different shapes and sizes. To be sure, there are full-blown phobias and crippling fears that can interrupt our life; but for most of us, fear is more insidious. Fears of rejection, insignificance, and abandonment may not interrupt our life but they can sure influence the way we think and act. Our thoughts, motives and behaviors are constantly shaped by either faith or fear. The Psalmist found the secret. He said that if we seek the Lord, He will deliver us from all our fears. Turn on the light of faith and the darkness of fear will dissipate. Decide to seek God today. Move away from fear and move your thinkng toward faith.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, I want to trade my fears for faith. Today, when fear comes to my attention, I will seek You. I will seek You with all of my heart. Thank You that You promise to deliver me.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
God delivers me from my fear
Bring yourself into the presence of God. Sense Him there. Take the big bag of fears that you have brought with you and lay them at His feet. Visualize yourself pulling each fear out of the bag one by one. As you do you notice that God is not flinching. He is not worried. His peace begins to give you confidence and as you bring out each fear you take a piece of His peace and put it in your bag. Affirm, “God delivers me from my fears!”
