Experiencing His Presence

TODAY’S VERSE
“I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.”
Psalms 16:7, 8 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
There is one prayer that has made all the difference in my life. It is one I have to pray over and over again. It is a form of discipline, for if I don’t pray this prayer I will not keep my Spiritual vitality. The prayer is simple and yet powerful. It is, “Lord make me conscious of Your presence.” Being conscious of God’s presence makes all the difference in the world. Because David was conscious of the fact that God was always with him, right beside him, he was not shaken during life’s struggles. Instead God guided him and instructed his heart at night. How about you and I? What if today we were conscious of God right next to us? What if we knew that He was in the same room we were? What if we sensed that He heard our thoughts and prayers and would to answer the questions we have? What if we experienced His comforting presence when we are under pressure? What if we knew He was present to hold our hand when we had that extremely difficult task to do? God is. God is always with us. Let us be conscious of His presence in all that we do today.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear God, thank you for being with me constantly. Please make me aware of your presence today. Help me to see how relevant you are to my life. Help me experience your presence, to really know that you are always with me, in fact right beside me. Father, open my eyes to see you, my ears to hear you and my heart to sense your very presence. In Jesus name.
AMEN

TODAY’S MEDITATION & VISUALIZATION
God is always beside me
This is an easy assumption to take for granted. It is easy to live as if He in not there. So today focus on one truth. Visualize one thing. Give your attention to the abiding presence of God. See your self going through a day. Everywhere you go, Christ is right with you. Feel His presence. Sense the Holy Spirit alive in your heart. See it, feel it, sense it. Affirm, “God is always beside me.”

New Thinking Habits

TODAY’S VERSE
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”
Philippians 4:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
It is so easy to let our thoughts run away from us. You know, the inward chatter that goes on all day. The voice when you get up in the morning, the musing on the drive to work, the stewing over events on the way home. Inner thoughts are powerful. They create emotions, which in turn, cause actions. Paul is saying that we have to take ownership of our inner dialog. It is so easy to be negative, anxious, angry, doubtful, bitter or carnal in our thinking. Instead, we need to be responsible for what we think and deliberately focus on true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praise worthy thoughts. What a difference this discipline would bring to our life.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I give You my thought life. I want You to be Lord of both my conscious and unconscious part of my being. You know my thought process. You know my habitual thinking patterns. I bring them to You. I ask that You help me today begin a habit of focusing on true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praise worthy thoughts.  In Jesus’ name. AMEN

TODAY’VISUALIZATION & MEDITIATION
God is helping me change the way I think
Today do what Paul has asked us to do. Spend a few moments visualizing yourself correcting negative attitudes and instead see yourself thinking on each of the attributes Paul lists. Spend time on each one. Think on what is true – honorable – right – pure – lovely – admirable – excellent – worthy of praise. Sense God helping you to change the way you think.

I Will Not Fear

TODAY’S VERSE
“The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalms 27:1 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Sometimes we just need to answer the questions. It may seem that the answers should be obvious. “Who should I fear?” It should  be rhetorical, but so often our eyes are blinded to the truth. I remember seeing a little boy who thought he was lost, start screaming. He cried hysterically and yet his father was only a few feet away. Thinking he was alone the little child was overcome with the fear of abandonment. Because of his fear he cried hysterically, so much so that he could not see his father right in front of him. It wasn’t until the dad picked him up and hugged him for a few moments that the boy took comfort in his father’s arms. Fear is like that. When we fear, it blocks out all other reality. God is with us, He is our light and salvation, and yet we act as if we are lost in utter darkness. We are in the stronghold of God’s love and yet fear blinds us from the reality of our salvation. Is this your reality? What is it that you fear? Rebuke it right now. Look into the eyes of Jesus, let His light penetrate your mind and heart. Let Him be your stronghold. Arise and walk in peace.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I admit that I let my emotions overwhelm me. I do not allow myself to fully understand what it means that You are my light, salvation and stronghold. Forgive me Lord. I want Your peace. I want Your joy. I want to know You more fully. Even today let me experience Your presence in my life. I ask You to make me fully aware of Your love and power. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’VISUALIZATION & MEDITIATION
I will not fear
Fear is a mighty emotion. Today see yourself in fear. Picture you coming to God with it and asking for His peace and joy. Sense His strength, His power and His desire to help you. As you give Him your fear, you can feel His presence and peace come over you. With confidence you affirm, “I will not fear!”

Give This Day To God

TODAY’S VERSE
“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Rescue me from my enemies, O LORD, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.”
Psalms 143:8, 10 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Do you start your day hearing a word from God about His unfailing love? Do you start your day trusting in Him? Do you ask Him for direction, protection and instruction for the tasks that are ahead of you this day? If not, what is stopping you now? No matter what your yesterdays were, no matter what you fear for tomorrow, there is nothing stopping you from committing this day to God. You can begin a new habit of thanksgiving and expectation today.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, in the quietness of this moment, let me hear You confirm Your unfailing love for me. Right now, I put my complete trust in You. Please, dear God, show me the way I should go, for I lift up my soul to You. Rescue me from any trouble today, O LORD, for I hide myself in You. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; may Your Holy Spirit lead me today. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I will live this day for God
Today’s passage is a great visualization. Read it again and see everything it says happening to you.

It’s Your Choice!

TODAY’S VERSE
“Choose today whom you will serve—but as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD.”
Joshua 24:15 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Choices. Everyday we are called upon to make choices. Some insignificant, some with heavy consequences. There are some choices in life that lead us down certain paths. Marriage, vocation and other major choices all have ramifications on our future. But it is the everyday choices that determine how we live out the marriage, vocation or our other major choices. That is why, what you chose today is so important. You may have started down a path and strayed off. Today you can choose to turn around. You may have habitual choices that have been negative. Today you can choose to go another direction. You have the power to choose. You can choose to love. Likewise, happiness is a choice. God is constantly calling out to us, “Choose me.” God and our choice, what a powerful combination. Choose today whom you will serve; for not to choose, is to choose already.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear God, please help me. I admit I haven’t always chosen wisely. Give me wisdom, discernment and self discipline to make the right choices today. Most of all today, Dear Lord, I choose You. I choose to love You and live for You. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
Today, I have a choice!
Visualize yourself at a fork in the road. It is obvious that the one leads to your own self will, worldly pleasures and alienation from God. The other is a humble road, but it is a road of peace, joy and Godliness. You can feel the pull in both directions, but today you have a choice and you choose God’s way.

Do Not Lose Heart

TODAY’S VERSE
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”
II Corinthians 4:16 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
The heart  – that part of us that balances out the rational thinking part of us. It is the center of mystery, passion, hope, wonderment, love. It is that part of us that reacts to the love of Christ. It is what keeps us alive. God told the Jews that He would take out their stony heart and give them a heart that is alive! He has done that for us. Unfortunately, we can ignore our heart. We can get so busy, so worried, so carnal that we forget that God wants our heart. Paul warns us, “Do not lose your heart!” The question is, “How?” Paul gives us that answer, too. He says, “By renewing your heart, day by day.” Devotions, meditating, praying, spending time with God is the way to renewal. Today, stop and come to Him. Give Him your heart. Ask Him to renew it. If the worries of the world, the lure or temptations of riches, or the eagerness to get ahead has your heart in cardiac arrest, go to code blue.  “Stand back” and let Jesus resuscitate your heart right now.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Jesus, creator of my heart, I come to You now in desperate need of heart renewal. You know how I have let time slip by. I have not protected my heart. I can feel it becoming callous. Forgive me. Oh Spirit of God, right now, I ask You to renew my heart. Give me the peace, joy, love, passion, hope and steadfastness that comes from a heart renewed by You day by day.  In Jesus’ name. AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
God renews my heart everyday!
See yourself at the beginning of the day. You come before God with all the leftover struggles and issues from the day before. There He is. He looks at you with a loving smile and takes your weary mind and soul and refreshes it. Feel the joy as you sense that you inward self has be renewed. Circumstances all around you and yet inside you know there is a difference. You are filled with joy and say to God, “Thank You Lord, please renew my heart everyday!”

Who Is Your God?

TODAY’S VERSE
“The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.”
Psalms 18:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What you believe about God makes a difference. Not in God, but in the way you live. God is constant but your comprehension of God has everything to do with your faith and hope in this world. Look at what David believed. He saw God as his rock, fortress, savior, protection, shield, power and safety. How do you think this affected his attitude during a crisis? Time and experience had taught David well. All that he went through only made him stronger and deepened his beliefs about the God who is there. The God who cares. The God who is able. What is God to you? Is He your rock, fortress and protection? Do you come to Him when the world gets too tough? Is God your power? Can you trust in Him to supply all that you need for each and every day? David felt so and so can you. Today, step out in faith. Ask God to reveal Himself to you and give you a fresh faith like David had. When you do, you will find God to be all that you need.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, please reveal Yourself to me. Help me see what David saw. Help me see You as my rock, fortress, savior, protection, shield, power and safety. Help me step out in faith and trust You today. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
God is my rock, my fortress and my Savior
Meditate on the metaphors that David gave us. See God as a great mountain. A rock that becomes a fortress. See yourself protected from harm, living high above the troubles below. Sense the strength of God as He protects you. Visualize yourself coming to Him and He lovingly keeps you from all harm. Picture Him as your protector and as your Savior. See Him as the one who loves you with an everlasting love. It is His love that envelopes you in care and safety. It is His love that allows you to affirm, “God is my rock, my fortress and my Savior.”

His Great Power

TODAY’S VERSE
“I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him.”
Ephesians 1:19 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Here is a mystery. How in the world can I have something so great in my possession and totally ignore it? If I was a soldier on a mission I would be conscious that I had powerful weapons at my disposal. If I were a rich man going on a vacation, I would be fully aware of my financial ability. Yet day after day I live my life as if there were no presence of God or any of His power available for my life. How can this be? Is it that I am not conscious that I am in a spiritual battle therefore Christ’s power has no relevance to my life? Is it pride or arrogance that allows me to live as if everything depends on me instead of Christ? I thank God that Paul realized this spiritual cancer and set an example for us to follow. Paul wrote that I must ask God to help me understand the incredible power that He has available for my spiritual journey. It is with this understanding that I begin to ask God to do mighty things. How about you? Are you applying the power of God in your life? If not, start today. Ask God to help you begin to understand the incredible greatness of His power available for your life.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I pray that You would help me trust You and the power you have available for me. I believe in You Lord, but I need help with my unbelief. I really want to experience Your power alive in every aspect of my life. I ask this in the name of Jesus.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I understand God’s incredible power available for my life
Allow God to take you on a journey. Come before Him in quietness. Confess your ignorance of His mighty power and ask Him to reveal it to you. Visualize God creating the world. See Him speaking to Moses in the mountain. Imagine being with Jesus as He performs His miracles. Quietly sense the magnitude of His being. Sense His energy, His majesty, His might. Let Him fill your senses. Pray, “Lord help me understand Your incredible power available for me and my life.”

Spiritual Wisdom And Understanding

TODAY’S VERSE
“So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.”
Colossians 1:9-10 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Do you desire to live a way that will always honor and please God? Do you want to produce every kind of good fruit with your life? These are high and lofty goals that Paul wrote for the church. These are goals that you and I need for our lives. But how? How do we achieve such spirituality? We do what Paul did. We pray and we don’t stop praying that God would give us a complete knowledge of His will and that we would know God better and better as we gain in spiritual wisdom and understanding. It is through knowing God in this deep and intimate way that we will live the life He desires for us.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, please give me a more complete knowledge of Your will for my life so I can live for you better and better. It is my desire to live a life that will always honor and please You, so I ask that You will give a more complete knowledge of Your will and help me gain in spiritual wisdom and understanding.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
God gives me spiritual wisdom and understanding
As you meditate before God fix your mind on knowing Him. See God in all His power and glory coming toward you. You sense His benevolence toward you and you cry out for spiritual wisdom and understanding. He hears you and bids you to come sit at His feet to worship and learn from Him. As you come to Him you affirm, “God gives me spiritual wisdom and understanding.”

Renew My Mind

TODAY’S VERSE
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”
Romans 12:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is so easy to allow secular thinking creep into our everyday living. David Kinniman, the president of the Barna Group, writes that “we live in a society that values fairness over justice, consuming over creating, fame over accomplishment, glamour over character, image over holiness, and entertainment over discernment.” How true. The Kingdom of God has values that are counter to those that have been embraced by modern society. So what can we do? The secret, Paul shares, is to allow God to constantly transform us by changing the way we think. As we pray, read the word, and commune with the Holy Spirit we will begin to see the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control become realities in our life. Peter shares as you gradually increase faith, moral excellence, spiritual knowledge, self-control, patient endurance, Godliness, brotherly affection and love for everyone, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. So today, examine your life and let God transform you by changing the way you think.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I need Your Holy Spirit to help me. I am so vulnerable. It is so easy for me to copy the behavior and customs of the world. Please help renew my mind and make me the person you want me to be.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
God is transforming the way I think
Bring yourself to God in worship. As you meditate on His loving presence, let Him speak to your heart. Ask Him, “Lord, where do I need to change my thinking? What attitudes do I need to correct?” Wait on Him. Let Him speak to you. Listen to what He says. As you gain insight, repent and commit yourself to new behavior. Praise God that He is changing the way you think.
