Loving God

TODAY’S VERSE
“I love You, Lord.”
Psalms 18:1 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
As David mused on the fact that God was his rock, fortress, savior, shield, power that saved him and his place of safety, he was overwhelmed and cried out, “I love You, Lord.” When is the last time you told God that you loved Him? Sure, you have praised Him, worshipped, sang songs. But when was the last time your heart was overwhelmed and you cried out to God, “I love you, Lord!” He wants our heart. More than obedience, more than ritual, more than all the good we do. These are important, but they don’t replace telling God that you love Him. What is God to you? Today, stop what you are doing, take a deep breath, focus on God’s presence and tell Him you love Him. He is worthy of all our love. Sometimes you just need to say it.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, with all my heart, I love You!
Amen

His Love

TODAY’S VERSE
“So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.”
Matthew 7:11 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Sometimes I get it all backwards. I come to God and ask for something and for whatever reason, I have it in my head that I am so unworthy. I end up doubting whether God would want to do anything good for me. But then I read this passage and I realize it’s not about me! It’s about God. God is love and it is His love for me that needs to be my focus. I can’t really fathom it; I can’t begin to get my head around the vastness of His love. But I do understand a father’s love. Even fathers who fail know what they should have done. Even a child whose father was abusive knows how the father should have acted. And so we try, and as imperfect as we are, we know how to give gifts to our children. Jesus used this as His illustration pointing out that if we, in all of our limitations and sinfulness, know how to do good to our children, how much more will our heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him? God loves you, He loves me and desires to give us what we need. All He wants us to do is ask. Today, rejoice in your heavenly Father’s love for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I thank You for Your love. Forgive me when I doubt, when I let insecurities and lies lead me to a place of unbelief. Help me focus on You and Your love and rest in the fact that You feel I am intrinsically lovable. Thank You, my dear Father, for Your love.
AMEN

Who Is Your God?

TODAY’S VERSE
“The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.”
Psalms 18:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
What you believe about God makes a difference. Not in God, but in the way you live. Your comprehension of God has everything to do with your faith and hope in this world. Look at what David believed. He saw God as his rock, fortress, savior, protection, shield, power and safety. How do you think this affected his attitude during a crisis? Time and experience had taught David well. All that he went through only made him stronger and deepened his beliefs about the God who is there. The God who cares. The God who is able. What is God to you? Is He your rock, fortress and protection? Do you come to Him when the world gets too tough? Is God your power? Can you trust in Him to supply all that you need for each and every day? David felt so and so can we. Today, step out in faith. Ask God to reveal Himself to you and give you a fresh faith like David had. When you do, you will find God to be all that you need.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, please reveal Yourself to me. Help me see what David saw. Help me see You as my rock, fortress, savior, protection, shield, power and safety. Help me step out in faith and trust You today. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
