His Prized Possession

TODAY’S VERSE
“He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.”
James 1:18 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
What a marvelous plan. How can a Holy God, who gave us a free will to live the way we choose, allow us to live in our human sinfulness? How can He reconcile His love for us? James says it is by offering us a second birth. By using our human choice, God gives us the option to become His child and be born again by His Spirit. Jesus said it first. He told a ruler of the religious group of His day, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” The Scriptures makes it plain that Christ’s sacrifice for our sins cleanses us from all our unrighteousness.  Jesus again said, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” And His love validates what James wrote, “We, out of all creation, became His prized possession.” Today, believe it, rejoice in it, live like it is true. You are His prized possession!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, thank You for becoming a sacrifice for me. Thank You for making it possible that I could be born again. Help me today to believe what You came to tell me; because of You, I am one of God’s prized possessions. Bless You, my dear Lord.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I am God’s prized procession!
How do we begin? Try to visualize His prize possession.  Envision a bright diamond. Look at its beauty and radiance. And yet the diamond is not it. Picture a magnificent mountain with valleys, streams and breathtaking majesty. Again, the mountain is not it. Imagine an angel, mighty in power, glorious in its ambiance, purity in purpose. Again, the angel is not it. Finally, see yourself kneeling before the throne of God. Overwhelmed in His presence, see God Almighty look at you. Sense His presence and hear Him say, “My child, you are my prized possession!” This is it. Now rise, be thankful in this truth and walk in His love.

Confidence In God’s Help

TODAY’S VERSE
So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:6 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Have you ever said anything with confidence? It is different than saying “I think so,” “Perhaps,” “Maybe” or “We’ll see.” Confidence connotes a certainty, an assurance that what we believe is true. Because we believe in a God that will never forsake us, a heavenly Father who will never abandon us, we can have confidence that this same God is our helper, our strength, our shield, our shelter in the storm, our rock of ages, our mighty fortress, our protector, our hope, our Savior. Yes, we can say with confidence, “Today, I will not be afraid!”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Thank You, Mighty God, that You have chosen to be my helper. You have reached down to me and have assured me that You care, that You will always have my soul in Your hand. I thank You with a confidence in my heart that what You say is true and every thought, fear, apprehension and doubt that stands against this confidence is a lie. I accept Your help today. I will trust You and not be afraid. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I will not be afraid
Today we have options. We do not have to be afraid. Quiet yourself before God. Visualize God helping you as you say the following phrase, emphasizing the word in all caps. Say, “The LORD is my helper.” Feel His presence as you say it again, “The Lord is MY helper.” Sense the relief; let the actual peace come over you as you say it one more time, “The Lord is my HELPER.” Let yourself feel the absence of fear as you reaffirm, I will not be afraid.

Faith To Forgive

TODAY’S VERSE
‘“Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.’ The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Show us how to increase our faith.”’
Luke 17:4-5 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Whoever said forgiveness was easy didn’t have much to forgive. It can be hard, very hard, especially when we try to do it by ourself. That’s why Jesus was challenging His disciples to be bold in their forgiveness. He said, “Even if a person asks forgiveness seven times a day you must forgive!”  And I think Jesus was implying more than one day’s worth. I love the response of the disciples. They asked for more faith. Why did they do that? Because forgiveness is more divine than human. Forgiveness is all about faith. When our world of rules, safety and protection is broken; when all sense of right and wrong is violated; when our belief in a sensible world is shattered, it is hard to forgive someone. And it is hard to believe what we thought was true about God and the world we live in, is still true. It takes faith to trust God when we have been wounded. It takes faith when we have to return an act of hate with an act of love. It takes faith when our soul cries for revenge, justice and punishment and God calls for grace. We need faith to believe that God knows, God cares and that God will heal, rebuild and restore us. So today, search your heart. Is there someone you need to forgive? Ask God for faith.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father God, increase my faith in who You are and Your Supernatural love for me. Help me trust You so I can let go and forgive those that I have refused to forgive. Help me see Your ways and not mine. Help me to forgive others in the same way You have forgiven me.
In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
With faith in God I choose to forgive others
Ask God to bring to your mind anyone you need to forgive. As He does, write their name down. When you are ready, focus on what you need to forgive. What was the offense? How did it hurt you? How is it still bothering you today? By faith, picture God desiring you to be set free by your act of forgiveness. Ask Him for grace and strength. Picture God forgiving you and cleansing you from all your wrongdoing. With that in mind, picture you forgiving the person that came to your mind for their wrongdoing. When ready, forgive the person for what they have done.

Christ’s Peace

TODAY’S VERSE
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”
Colossians 3:15 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
I love how the peace of Christ and thankfulness go together. Ever have someone, meaning well of course, try to get you to cheer up over something you weren’t ready to thank God for? People get uncomfortable around heartache and try to make the person suffering feel better. This is well intentioned, but not always successful. Perhaps that is why Paul wrote what he did. He knew from being in prison, shipwrecked, starving, stoned, left for dead and hunted down like a criminal that it was through the peace of knowing Christ and all His love and power that he was able to come to any semblance of giving thanks. And why did it matter? Because giving thanks is the key to returning to joy from painful emotions and circumstances. It is handing over the steering wheel to someone else more capable then us to drive when we are under so much duress. And so today, come to Christ. Come to Him who is able to give you peace even when thanksgiving seems so far away. His peace will comfort. His peace will sustain. His peace will return you to joy and a thankful heart.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, it is hard to give thanks in all things. I need Your peace, that passes all understanding, to rule in my heart. Come in the power of Your Holy Spirit and fill me now, fill me where I cannot fill myself. Bring peace and love to my heart even now and with that, I give You thanks, my God and my Lord.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
Christ’s peace rules in my heart
As you read the affirmation, how are you breathing? Is it shallow? Are you tense? Breathe deep and relax your face, neck and shoulders and say again, “Christ’s peace rules in my heart.” Close your eyes and say. “Peace” Picture Christ coming to you and let His calming presence sooth your mind and body. Whatever is stopping you from peace right now, give it to Christ. As you do say, “Thank You.” Again, “Thank You Christ for taking my burden and giving me peace.” Be still, and let the peace of Christ fill you. When you are ready say, “Christ’s peace rules in my heart.”

Gateway Of Hope

TODAY’S VERSE
“I will – transform the Valley of Trouble into a gateway of hope.”
Hosea 2:15 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
We have our valleys of trouble don’t we. In this particular passage the troubles were self inflicted. How many times have we participated in our own downfall? And yet, God’s mercies are not shaken. Instead, He turns our valley of trouble into a gateway of hope. What a beautiful metaphor. A gateway is an escape from trouble and at the same time a doorway to hope. Isn’t that how God works? He takes our smallest step toward escape and turns it into a new direction. Today, no matter what trouble you have, no matter how hopeless it seems, God wants to give you a gateway of hope. You may be in a deep, deep valley of trouble, but today God wants to turn it into a gateway of hope. Come and let Him transform your trouble.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, nobody knows the trouble I have. Only You do. And You have said that You would transform my valley of troubles into a gateway of hope. How I need that transformation. Work in my heart now, dear Lord. Show me the gateway of hope that I may enter it and find the peace, joy and rest I have been looking for.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I have HOPE today
As you quiet your self before God, ask Him to fill your heart with hope. Picture yourself on top of a hill looking into the valley below. Troubles are everywhere, but as you meditate on God’s love and power, you can see the trouble begin to dissipate. You see a gate and a path leading out of the valley to a land of hope. Go to that gateway and walk through. As you see yourself go through the gateway, sense the transformation from trouble to hope. Let joy well up in your heart and say out loud, “I have hope today. Hope in God almighty.”

Am Open Door

TODAY’S VERSE
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”
Revelation 3:20 (KJV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Who are we? Who are we that the God of the universe would be interested in a relationship with us? Yet, this is exactly what today’s passage implies. It is an open invitation to you and I to sit before God and pour out our heart. David wrote in the Psalms, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” David knew how prudent it is to let God search our most inner thoughts, emotions and imaginations. We can come to Him without reservation and trust that He cares; that He is interested; that He is able to show us any correction that we need. And the good news is that through this process of being transparent with God, He will lead us in the way we should go. Do you have that kind of relationship with God? If not, you can start today. He stands at the door of your heart and knocks. Open it, invite Him in and start to let God know who you are.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, it is so hard to say, “Search my heart.” I don’t want to slow down. I don’t want to be vulnerable. But, if I cannot trust You with my heart, who can I trust? Forgive me for running from You. Help me be still. Help me trust You as I say, “Holy Spirit, I come now and open the door of my heart to You. Come in, search me, know my thoughts and lead me in the way You want me to go.” In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I give my heart to God
Quiet yourself in prayer. Come before God and sense His love and concern for you. Hear Him say, “I am knocking on the door of your heart – let me in.” Picture the door, open it and invite Christ in. Say, “Come Lord Jesus, search my heart, cleanse me, heal me.” See yourself at a table with the Lord and just be there, fellowship, see how happy Jesus is to be with you. Invite Him to stay, to be the ruler of your heart. Say, “I give my heart to You dear Jesus.”

Do Not Lose Heart

TODAY’S VERSE
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”
II Corinthians 4:16 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
The heart, that part of us that balances out our rational thinking. It is the center of mystery, passion, hope, wonderment and love. It is that part of us that reacts to the love of Christ. It is what keeps us alive. God told the Jews that He would take out their stony heart and give them a heart that is alive! And likewise, He has done that for us. Unfortunately though, we can totally ignore our heart. We can get so busy, so worried, so carnal that we forget that God wants our emotional, intuitive, passionate part of us. Paul warns us, “Do not lose your heart!” The question is, “How?” How do we stop from giving in or giving up? Paul gives us that answer. He says we can stop from losing heart, “by renewing our heart, day by day.” Devotions, meditating, praying, spending time with God is the way to renewal. Today, stop and come to Him. Give Him your heart. Ask Him to renew it. If the worries of the world, the lure of riches, or the lust of the flesh has your heart in cardiac arrest, go to code blue.  “Stand back” and let Jesus resuscitate your heart right now.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Jesus, creator of my heart, I come to You now in desperate need of heart renewal. You know how I have let time slip by. I have not protected my heart. I can feel it becoming callous. Forgive me. Oh Spirit of God, right now, I ask You to renew my heart. Give me the peace, joy, love, passion, hope and steadfastness that comes from a heart renewed by You day by day.  In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

TODAYS AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I will not lose heart
Quiet yourself as you come into the presence of God. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and direct your thoughts. Picture yourself tired, confused, feeling down, finding it hard to breathe. Put your hand on your heart and say, “Oh Lord, renew my heart.” Take a deep breath and as you exhale picture God coming to you and touching your chest. Feel God’s power renewing you. Breath deep and say, “God, fill me with hope.” Again, “Lord fill me with faith.” As you breathe one more time, “Lord fill me with love.” Cry out, “more God, I want more. Come and renew my heart, I want more of You!” As you worship in His presence let God minister to you.

Holy Place

TODAY’S VERSE
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him.”
Hebrews 10:19-22 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There is a Holy Place. Far beyond the vastness of the universe, before eternity ever started, beyond any form of comprehension, there is God. And this God allows all that He is, to become exposed to all that we are. We with our humanness, our finite, fickle, sinful selves are allowed to enter the Holy Place through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. How marvelous, how wonderful, how unbelievable that we can “go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting Him.” Today, enter the Holy Place and commune with the Holy God, fully trusting that He has bid you to come.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Oh Holy Father, who am I that You would allow me to enter into Your Holy Place? Thanks be to You and Your Son Jesus Christ who died in my place that I might be made holy in Your sight. Thank You for bidding me to come and fellowship with You. I come, Dear Father, fully trusting in Your love and forgiveness.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I am loved by our Holy God
Picture a great and glorious Holy Place before the Throne of God. Sense the majesty, the grandeur, the magnificence. Hear God call your name as all the thrones of Angels turn to look at you. And God says, “Come, come to my Holy Place and be with me.” Sense His love, His compassion for you and picture yourself going and sitting in His presence. Stay there for a while, peaceful and full of joy. Let Him fill your heart with love. Finish by saying, “I am loved by our Holy God.”

Encouragement

TODAY’S VERSE
Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
Ephesians 4:29 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
What a wonderful calling. What a tremendous privilege is ours. God has called us to be an encourager. Encouragement. It can change a person’s life; alter the destiny of families. Nations can rise and fall – alright, maybe not that dramatic, but who can deny the power of encouragement? How many of us have been overwhelmed, about ready to give up and someone stopped and in a loving moment, poured encouragement all over us? Is there anything more refreshing? God loves the whole world and He has chosen you and I to be His messenger of encouragement. Might He lead us to someone in need of encouragement today.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank You for all the times You have sent encouragement my way. I pray that today You might help me be an encourager to someone who so desperately needs it. Give me eyes to see people the way You do and to say things that are good and helpful so that my words might be an encouragement to those who hear them. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I am an encourager
Stop and picture the different people you might see today. See yourself smiling and encouraging them. Picture them smiling and being uplifted by your kindness. Feel the warmth of emotion as you know that God’s love reached out to them through you. Say out loud, “Today I will encourage others!”

More Than This World

TODAY’S VERSE
“He has also set eternity in the hearts of men”.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
There is something about this world that causes us to yearn for the next. We were never meant to live here without belief in the next. God created us for more than just this. He created us to be eternal. A soul that never dies. He has etched it deep into our hearts. C.S. Lewis wrote, “If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.” The good news is that Christ came to make a way to prepare for the next life. He is the only one who lived in both. He is God and human in one. He made a way, through His death, for us to co-exist with a Holy and Almighty God. So much so that we now can come to God and call Him Father. That’s what children do. They call their Father, “Father.” And they long to be home. Listen to that inner voice and respond to your Father in Heaven.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I do hear another voice. It is from a distant land, and I do long to know more about it. There has to be more than what I can see around me. I come today and ask You to make me more conscience of Your presence. More aware of Your power and mystery. I invite Your Heaven to invade my earth and help me become a citizen of both. Awaken my soul to Your heavenly reality. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

AFFIRMATION & MEDITATION
I am a citizen of Heaven
Close your eyes and picture yourself before God. Hear Him, call your name and tell you “I have a place for you here with me in Heaven.” Let a peace and joy begin to fill your heart. Breath deep and as you do sense that you are breathing in an eternal air. Exhale and sense the peace of being home with Him. Do this again and as you do, thank God for your eternal home with Him.
