Love Others

TODAY’S VERSE
“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.”
Matthew 7:12 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Can it get any clearer? Love is the essence of Christianity. It is God’s message to mankind. He loves us! And it is our calling to follow His example. We must love each other. Jesus takes all of the law in the Old Testament and boils it down to its essence and what does He get? He gets love. What does God require of us? He wants us to treat others in the very same way that we want to be treated. We are to love others in very real and practical ways. When we do, God is glorified. He is honored and people are drawn to Him, the One who loves us so much that we can’t help but love others in return.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for loving me so much. Thank You for Your grace and mercy in my life. Help me love others in the same way that You love me. The same way I would want them to treat me. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

My Own Eye

 TODAY’S VERSE
“And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.”
Matthew 7:3-5 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
I don’t agree with everything Freud wrote. There is, however, one of his observations that I think has some truth to it. Freud wrote about “projection,” the action of pointing out faults in others that we have our self.” Have you ever caught yourself criticizing someone and suddenly realize that you exhibit the same behavior? Jesus warned us about pointing out other people’s faults and ignoring our own. He said not to point out the little failings in other people while we have huge issues to deal with. He mastered the use of hyperbole with the comparison of a speck in another person’s eye while we have this huge beam in our own. How funny this must have sounded to His audience, yet how true! We so often take offense at other’s shortcomings when we have glaring inconsistencies in our own life. Today, let us examine our self. Let us come before God and ask Him to point out our own “sins” and deal with them before we worry about someone else’s behavior.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me for judging others. Help me to bring myself to you and allow Your Holy Spirit to work on my behavior. Lord, make me more like You.
AMEN

God’s Thinking Of You

TODAY’S VERSE
“How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!”
Psalms 139:17-18 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
What a mood David was in! Could he get any more excited about God? He got it! He really understood how much God cared for him and it made him ecstatic. You can hear the enthusiasm in his words. He is full of appreciation and amazement. What was it that made him so excited? What overwhelmed him with praise? It was the fact that the almighty God of the universe was aware of him. More that aware, God was constantly thinking about him. More than just thinking, David said that God’s thoughts about him were precious! Have you come to that same awareness David had? Have you stopped to consider how much God thinks about you? Today, meditate on the fact that God is keenly aware of you. You are precious to Him. In fact, if you tried to add up all the thoughts God has about you, you would never be able to do it! And here is the amazing part, every day you wake up God is still with you; He is still having precious thoughts about you. Today, live joyfully in this awareness.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I thank You for all Your precious thoughts about me. I thank You for caring and being there for me. I thank You that You have never taken Your eye off me and never will. Thank You for Your love. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Comfort

TODAY’S VERSE
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”
II Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Stress is in all of our lives. There is pressure from all sides. Relationships, finances, health, how do we get any relief? Where can we go to get help? Paul knew. He wrote, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles.” Paul was emphatic, God is compassionate. Not only compassionate but puts His compassion into action by comforting us. It is hard to pray sometimes. Will God heal? Will we find the answer we seek? We don’t know all the variables, we can’t always explain the way things turn out, but we can count on one thing. He will comfort! He will, in His great compassion, visit us and bring a comfort to our heart that is supernatural. More than that, God will orchestrate many of His followers to comfort us as well. That is His plan. When we are comforted by His grace and mercy, God wants us to go and comfort others that He brings our way. We are to comfort others in the same way we were helped. But somehow we have forgotten this. Somehow the church has traded our role from hospital, shelter and sanctuary for a country club? We have all sorts of programs for ourselves, but we don’t bring comfort to the world. God has commanded us to take His love to the streets. That is what He did. Today, bring your own burdens to the Lord. Let Him comfort you. And when He does, go with the same compassion He had and go comfort someone else.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I pray that You, in all of Your compassion, would comfort me in my struggles. And as You do, I ask that You would bring people into my life that I could comfort in return. Thank You for Your love. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Joy and Quiet

TODAY’S VERSE
“I have stilled and quieted myself, just as a small child is quiet with its mother. Yes, like a small child is my soul within me.”
Psalms 131:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Have you ever seen the behavior of a mother and infant? They go through a rhythm of joy and quiet. The mother is happy to be with the baby and the baby is joyful in return. Laughter and a lot of love is exchanged. Next the baby will quiet itself and just want to rest. This is especially true after nursing. The joy bond between the mother and child is followed by quiet. A deep, serene trust is built. This is the way God prepares us for life. He knows that, in this world, we need joy and quiet. David knew this too. David purposely stilled himself to a place of quietness where he could enjoy and be nourished by the fellowship of God. He knew that peace, hope, courage and strength all came from the love bond He had with His heavenly Father. This love bond was the result of times of joy and quiet He spent with God. We need to do the same. God offers us peace that passes all understanding. He gives rest to those that He loves. He asks us to be still so we can know that He is God. Today put aside some time and quiet yourself before God. Be at peace, resting in His love for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come to You today and desire a sacred time of quietness before You. I need Your peace. I need to be assured of Your love. I desire to experience Your quiet presence. As I come before You, like a child resting in their mothers love, I ask You to please quiet my heart and fill me with your joy, love and peace. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Patience

TODAY’S VERSE
“Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience.”
Colossians 1:11 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
In his letter to the Colossians, Paul admonishes the Christians to “live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way.” He then tells them how. He says to get our strength from God’s power so we can exercise “great endurance and patience.” Endurance and patience pleases God. Patience is easier accomplished when there is hope. Where there seems to be a sense of fairness, it is easier to endure. But how often do we have that luxury? It is during difficult situations where all seems lost, where hope is nowhere to be found, that we must trust God and be strengthened in a way that only His power could accomplish. We come to Him, with all His glorious might, and choose to deliberately be patient and endure. It is an act of faith, one that is pleasing to Him. Today, trust God and His power, put your situation into His hands and choose to be patient and endure.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, help me trust in Your power and might and exhibit patience and endurance today in all I do.
AMEN

Inner Strength

TODAY’S VERSE
“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. – And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. – Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”
Ephesians 3:16, 18-19 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
How many times a day could you use strength? We are pulled in every direction and live under a lot of stress. Life can be difficult and so many times we feels so weak to do anything about it. Paul knew what weakness was. He knew what struggles and trial were like and so he prayed for the church in Ephesus to have the same thing that got him through each day. He prayed that God would use His own Spirit to empower each one of the people with inner strength. Not just any inner strength. Not some false hope build on some slogan or certain steps to follow. No, Paul was encouraging you and I to build our inner-strength on knowing “how wide, how long, how high, and how deep God’s love is.” It is knowing this great love that God has for us that makes us complete. It is knowing God’s love in a deep and personal way that give us all the fullness of life and power that He has available for us. Today come to God. Ask Him to reveal to you how truly great His love for you really is. As He does, you will experience all the inner strength you need

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, give me the inner-strength that comes from understanding Your great love for me. Help me draw upon all the power that You have available for me this day. I pray this in Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Know Him

TODAY’S VERSE
“May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.”
II Peter 1:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Are you growing in your knowledge of Jesus Christ? Have you been spending time reading the Bible in order to know what Christ’s agenda is? Have you examined His life in order to follow His example? Do you have a heart knowledge of Christ? Do you spend time in His presence? Do you know how He feels about you? Do you see life, with all its people and situations, with the eyes of Christ? God’s design was that you have more than a superficial knowledge of Christ. It is His desire that you grow in what you know and experience of Christ. As you do, you will have more and more peace in your life. You will understand more and more about the unending grace that He has for you. Today, spend time and get to know Christ better. Learn about Him as you learn from Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, help me to know You better and better. Help me learn more about Your desires and passions. Help me know Your love, grace and peace. Teach me, guide me, instruct me I pray. Help me grow more and more in You.
AMEN

The Lord’s Face

TODAY’S VERSE
“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
Numbers 6:24-26 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
At first this just seems like a benediction that you hear after church on Sunday. A nice platitude to give you some hope throughout the week. But when you stop to really read this passage it is a tremendous reality that you need to really consider. Why? Because, believing this passage can change your life. It starts out stating that God wants to bless and keep you. What a wonderful reality. You can come to God knowing that it is His full intent to bless you. But then the author adds a very personal twist. He is saying that God wants to make His face shine upon you. This means that God Almighty is fully aware of you and is turning His face deliberately toward you so you can make full contact with Him. What an invitation. Today, right now, God has turned His face toward you. His goal is to be gracious toward you and give you peace. He is looking, will you look back? Stop now, experience the presence of the Lord.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You that You have taken such a personal interest in me. I want to know You better. Please be gracious toward me, help me experience Your face shining upon me, and give me peace.
AMEN

The Beauty Of The Lord

TODAY’S VERSE
“One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD And to meditate in His temple.”
Psalms 27:4 (NASB)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
It is so easy to get wrapped up in life and not catch all the beauty. Can you imagine being on a business trip to Hawaii and never stopping to gaze at the ocean or the breath taking sunsets? Yet how different is that from going through day after day, week after week and never meditating on God’s goodness and unfailing kindness? David knew the treasure he had in his relationship with God and decided to appreciate it. He made it his priority. He said that the ability to be in God’s presence and behold His beauty was the most important request he made of God. I love the imagery. Beholding the beauty of the Lord. Have you ever beheld any beauty. It takes your breath away. It saturates your senses. It changes you. Oh that we would behold God’s beauty in the same way. Today, take time and behold the beauty of God.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, forgive me for letting so much time go by and not appreciating Your presence. Forgive me for taking You for granted. You are God and Your love, kindness, grace and forgiveness are beyond description. Today help me behold Your true beauty.
AMEN
