Keep On Keeping On

TODAY’S VERSE
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Matthew 7:7-8 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
I have probably fought with this passage more than any other portion of scripture. How many times have I had to pray over situations that seemed impossible without God’s intervention? Overcoming mental anguish, living in poverty wondering how the bills were going to be paid, facing a near fatal illness of a loved one, rebuilding a failing relationship, seeking direction when I didn’t have a clue what to do. I am sure you can add your own experiences to this list. And so you find your self before God praying. Nothing happens so you pray again and again. After a while you begin to wonder, “God are You there?” That soon turns to, “God do You care?” There is a saying that the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. And that is how you feel. You start to doubt and then God brings you back to this passage. You read with tears in your eyes, “Keep on asking”, “Keep on seeking”, “Keep in knocking”. So you have to make a choice. Is this insanity or is it faith? There is a huge difference. The difference is God. God is in the picture so every time we pray we know that the God who is able to do all that we ask is there. He cares and He hears our prayers. He knows our situation and has not abandoned us. Because we have prayed He is moved. And so we keep on keeping on. We live by faith, we ask by faith and many times we have to wait by faith. But it is faith in the God who is there. The God who knows. The God who cares. So today, let us again hang on to His promise, “Everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come to You in faith. I come asking, seeking and knocking. I come in faith believing that everyone who asks, receives, everyone who seeks, finds and to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
AMEN

What Spirit Do You Have?

TODAY’S  VERSE
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
II Timothy 1:7 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
What attitude are we letting control our life? With the rise in crime, a faltering economy and a tight job market it is easy to let fear, doubt, and insecurity fill our hearts. When we do, we find our self paralyzed, not able to live by faith, stepping out to trust God. It was the same way in Paul’s time. There was poverty, persecution, sickness and government unrest. It would have been easy for the churches to be gripped by fear, but Paul insisted that they had another choice. Why? Because of God! God makes the difference. It is God that gives us power, love and self-discipline. What a combination. Is there any combination that is stronger? God gives us His power. This is an unlimited source of strength for what ever we set out to do. Then He adds to it love. This is perhaps the greatest force in the universe. People armed with love can overcome any odds. Finally, God has given us the ability to be disciplined in doing His will. With our consistent disciplined use of His power and love what should we be afraid of? Today, put off any fear and timidity and let God’s power and love guide your journey.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, how I thank You that You have not given me a spirit of fear or timidity. Instead Lord, You have given me power, love and self-discipline. How I thank You and praise You. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

His Great Power

TODAY’S VERSE
“I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him.”
Ephesians 1:19 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Here is a mystery. How in the world can I have something so great in my possession and totally ignore it? If I was a soldier on a mission I would be conscious that I had powerful weapons at my disposal. If I were a rich man going on a vacation, I would be fully aware of my financial ability. Yet day after day I live my life as if there were no presence of God or any of His power available for my life. How can this be? Is it that I am not conscious that I am in a spiritual battle therefore Christ’s power has no relevance to my life? Is it pride or arrogance that allows me to live as if everything depends on me instead of Christ? I thank God that Paul realized this spiritual cancer and set an example for us to follow. Paul wrote that I must ask God to help me understand the incredible power that He has available for my spiritual journey. It is with this understanding that I begin to ask God to do mighty things. How about you? Are you applying the power of God in your life? If not, start today. Ask God to help you begin to understand the incredible greatness of His power available for your life.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I pray that You would help me trust You and the power you have available for me. I believe in You Lord, but I need help with my unbelief. I really want to experience Your power alive in every aspect of my life. I ask this in the name of Jesus.
AMEN

Light Up The Darkness

TODAY’S VERSE
“You light a lamp for me. The LORD, my God, lights up my darkness.”
Psalms 18:28 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Life can be unpredictable and messy. Everyone of us has drama in our life. We all have a story. We would rather have control over our situation, but so often we are simply left in the dark, wondering what to do. David experienced this. He had his difficulties, but instead of staying in the dark, he turned to God for help. He cried out to God and God became his light. He wrote, “You light a lamp for me. The LORD, my God, lights up my darkness.” Today, if things become unclear, if you are bombarded with problems, or if dark clouds start to clutter up your sky, turn to God. He will light your path.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for being a light in my life. Whenever I have been left in the dark Your light has been right there. Thank You for being a lamp for my path showing me where to go. Guide me today I pray.
AMEN

Approaching God

TODAY’S VERSE
“Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.”
Ephesians 3:12 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
How do you approach God? It often depends on your presuppositions of who God really is. Is He some mean, unreasonable disciplinarian that is watching your every move? Is God some detached, non-involved egghead that knows a lot but has no personality that can relate to you? Perhaps your view of God is that of a Santa Claus that you give your wish list to and hope to get nice things in return. Perhaps worst than any of these, the God you worship is unpredictable. You never know if and when God is going to show up and what kind of mood He will be in. What we believe about God has a lot to do with the way we come to Him. In today’s passage, Paul is writing about his faith in God. He says that because of Christ, we can come boldly and confidently into God’s presence. Now Christ paints a whole new picture of God. Philip was having doubts about God so he asked Jesus, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” Jesus replied to him, “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father!” If we want to know about God, all we have to do is look at the life and love of Jesus. The author of Hebrews says it best. He writes, “So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” So today, how should you come to God? Look to the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and join Paul in saying, “Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for Your love for me. Thank You for the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that has made it possible for me to come boldly to You. I come now boldly and confidently into Your presence to receive afresh all Your love and understanding. Thank You, In Jesus name.
AMEN

Joy and Quiet

TODAY’S VERSE
“My heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. – You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.”
Psalms 16:9, 11 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
We were made for rhythms of joy and quiet. David is a perfect example. His heart was full of joy and peaceful rest. But what was his secret? Was it his circumstances? Was it his wealth? Was it the adoration of thousands of followers? No, David’s joy and peace came from his enjoying God’s presence. It was in God’s presence that he felt a love and grace that overwhelmed him with joy and reverent rest. It was this pleasure of living in God’s presence that allowed for David’s rhythm of joy and rest. You can experience the same. Today, spend time in God’s presence. Meditate on His love for you. Let His presence bring you the same joy and quiet that it gave David.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come to You now. I want to experience the joy and peace of Your presence.
AMEN

He Is Our Guide

TODAY’S VERSE
“I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me.”
Psalms 16:7 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
I’ve blessed a few guides in my day. There is nothing worst than being in a deep forest and not know where you are. How thankful I was to have a guide who knew every square inch of the deep terrain we were in. Ever had a deeply complex situation, way over your head, you were not sure what you were going to do, and then someone who was very familiar with your situation, showed you the way out? How complex life can be. Every day has new challenges. Just when you think you know the terrain, you turn a corner and “bam” you don’t know where you are. Panic, frustration, doubt and fear start to set in and then you remember, “Why am I worried? The Lord is my guide!” And He is. David believed this. He knew what it was to depend on God. He knew what it was to be in circumstances where he wasn’t sure which way to turn. So he blessed the Lord who was his guide. This same God who instructed him during the night. Today, try it. Let God guide you. Call out to Him for wisdom, instruction, help and strength for all you do. He will be your guide.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, be my guide. I need Your wisdom, Your strength, Your guidance. Thank You, Lord, that You love me and long for me to come to You for help. I come now, Lord Jesus.
AMEN

Can or Can’t

TODAY’S VERSE
“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:13 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Can or can’t. They are two opposite pathways. They take you to different places. “Can’t” takes you into the territory of doubt, despair and eventually into hopelessness. We can’t, they can’t, soon we are believing that God can’t. Paul knew this. That is why he spent his life encouraging unbelievers to follow Christ and believers to trust Him with their whole life. And what an example he was. He trusted Christ for everything. And everything is what he expected. That is why he proclaimed, “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Today, decide to join Paul. Make your motto, “Through Christ I can.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me change my “can’ts” to “cans”. Help me trust in Your strength and not mine. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

The Joy Of His Presence

TODAY’S VERSE
“You have given him the joy of being in your presence.”
Psalms 21:6 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
What a gift. God has actually put the capacity to experience His presence in us. Like an antenna picks up the signal sent to it, God has put His Holy Spirit within us, enabling us to experience Him. But no antenna in the world would pick up a signal, if none were sent. This passage is more about God than us. It is God that sends His presence out to us. It is God that desires our fellowship. It is His grace that causes Him to seek us out. Does that grab you? Let me say it again, the God of the universe not only allows us an audience with Him, He comes to us and seeks us out! And when we respond, we find out what David knew. There is extreme joy being in His presence.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You for seeking me out. Thank You for allowing me to enjoy Your presence. I pray that I may experience the joy of Your presence more and more.
AMEN

Peace To You

TODAY’S VERSE
“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe.”
Psalms 4:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
The Bible is full of the message of peace. It is God’s will that we live in peace. Now peace can be a relative term. Some would limit it to a “peaceful situation”. Yet many people live in a safe and friendly environment, yet live in desperation. The kind of peace that the Bible emphasizes most is a state of mind. It is the inward peace that comes from knowing God is sovereign and that we can trust Him. It is the ability to delay gratification, solutions, answers or understanding and substitute it with hope, trust and faith in God’s ultimate goodness and love for us. So today, choose peace. May peace fill your day and take you through the night.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I ask for You to flood my heart and my soul with Your peace. Today, may I sense You love and presence and rest myself in You.
AMEN
