What Spirit Do You Have?

TODAY’S  VERSE
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
II Timothy 1:7 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
What attitude are we letting control our life? With the rise in crime, a faltering economy and a tight job market it is easy to let fear, doubt, and insecurity fill our hearts. When we do, we find our self paralyzed, not able to live by faith, stepping out to trust God. It was the same way in Paul’s time. There was poverty, persecution, sickness and government unrest. It would have been easy for the churches to be gripped by fear, but Paul insisted that they had another choice. Why? Because of God! God makes the difference. It is God that gives us power, love and self-discipline. What a combination. Is there any combination that is stronger? God gives us His power. This is an unlimited source of strength for what ever we set out to do. Then He adds to it love. This is perhaps the greatest force in the universe. People armed with love can overcome any odds. Finally, God has given us the ability to be disciplined in doing His will. With our consistent disciplined use of His power and love what should we be afraid of? Today, put off any fear and timidity and let God’s power and love guide your journey.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, how I thank You that You have not given me a spirit of fear or timidity. Instead Lord, You have given me power, love and self-discipline. How I thank You and praise You. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

His Great Power

TODAY’S VERSE
“I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him.”
Ephesians 1:19 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Here is a mystery. How in the world can I have something so great in my possession and totally ignore it? If I was a soldier on a mission I would be conscious that I had powerful weapons at my disposal. If I were a rich man going on a vacation, I would be fully aware of my financial ability. Yet day after day I live my life as if there were no presence of God or any of His power available for my life. How can this be? Is it that I am not conscious that I am in a spiritual battle therefore Christ’s power has no relevance to my life? Is it pride or arrogance that allows me to live as if everything depends on me instead of Christ? I thank God that Paul realized this spiritual cancer and set an example for us to follow. Paul wrote that I must ask God to help me understand the incredible power that He has available for my spiritual journey. It is with this understanding that I begin to ask God to do mighty things. How about you? Are you applying the power of God in your life? If not, start today. Ask God to help you begin to understand the incredible greatness of His power available for your life.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I pray that You would help me trust You and the power you have available for me. I believe in You Lord, but I need help with my unbelief. I really want to experience Your power alive in every aspect of my life. I ask this in the name of Jesus.
AMEN

Who Is Your God?

TODAY’S VERSE
“The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.”
Psalms 18:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
What you believe about God makes a difference. Not in God, but in the way you live. Your comprehension of God has everything to do with your faith and hope in this world. Look at what David believed. He saw God as his rock, fortress, savior, protection, shield, power and safety. How do you think this affected his attitude during a crisis? Time and experience had taught David well. All that he went through only made him stronger and deepened his beliefs about the God who is there. The God who cares. The God who is able. What is God to you? Is He your rock, fortress and protection? Do you come to Him when the world gets too tough? Is God your power? Can you trust in Him to supply all that you need for each and every day? David felt so and so can we. Today, step out in faith. Ask God to reveal Himself to you and give you a fresh faith like David had. When you do, you will find God to be all that you need.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, please reveal Yourself to me. Help me see what David saw. Help me see You as my rock, fortress, savior, protection, shield, power and safety. Help me step out in faith and trust You today. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Don’t Be Weary

TODAY’S VERSE
“O LORD, why do you stand so far away? Why do you hide when I am in trouble?”
Psalms 10:1 (NLT)

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Life can get hard. Feelings from inside, forces from outside . . . it can become overwhelming. David knew this and he was honest in his writings. Sure he eventually brings us into a trusting relationship with God, but not until he displays his raw emotion. He challenges his impression of God by asking, “O LORD, why do you stand so far away? Why do you hide when I am in trouble?” How many times have we been perplexed with our situations and have wanted to say the same thing? And yet somewhere deep in our heart we know that there must be more. The more is in the wait. It is the “be still and know that I am God.” It is the process of renewal. Isaiah writes, “But they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” He uses three glorious metaphors: a high soaring eagle, a person running without getting weary and a person on a long difficult walk and not fainting. And how is it we can experience victory even in defeat, peace in turmoil or strength in a long weary journey? The author of Hebrews gives us the answer. He writes, “Let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Might today, you experience all the grace of our loving God that you need so you can rise up with the wings of an eagle and not be weary or faint.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I need You. I need Your grace. I need Your renewal. Today I come to Your throne and wait on You. Be my strength, help me run and not be weary and walk and not faint. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. AMEN

Joy and Quiet

TODAY’S VERSE
“I have stilled and quieted myself, just as a small child is quiet with its mother. Yes, like a small child is my soul within me.”
Psalms 131:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Have you ever seen the behavior of a mother and infant? They go through a rhythm of joy and quiet. The mother is happy to be with the baby and the baby is joyful in return. Laughter and a lot of love is exchanged. Next the baby will quiet itself and just want to rest. This is especially true after nursing. The joy bond between the mother and child is followed by quiet. A deep, serene trust is built. This is the way God prepares us for life. He knows that, in this world, we need joy and quiet. David knew this too. David purposely stilled himself to a place of quietness where he could enjoy and be nourished by the fellowship of God. He knew that peace, hope, courage and strength all came from the love bond He had with His heavenly Father. This love bond was the result of times of joy and quiet He spent with God. We need to do the same. God offers us peace that passes all understanding. He gives rest to those that He loves. He asks us to be still so we can know that He is God. Today put aside some time and quiet yourself before God. Be at peace, resting in His love for you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I come to You today and desire a sacred time of quietness before You. I need Your peace. I need to be assured of Your love. I desire to experience Your quiet presence. As I come before You, like a child resting in their mothers love, I ask You to please quiet my heart and fill me with your joy, love and peace. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Comfort and Strength

TODAY’S VERSE
“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.”
II Thessalonians 2:16-17 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
God knows exactly what we need to make it in this life. He offers to us two indispensable tools for getting us through any of life’s situation. He gives us comfort and strength. Comfort calms us. Comfort gives us hope and encourages our faith. Comfort gives us the ability to trust God for the strength to press on. Strength to help us overcome obstacles. Strength needed for everyday life. God comforts with His hope and then He gives us the strength to press on. Today may God comfort your heart and mind and give you all the strength you need.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I pray that You will give me all the comfort and strength I need for this day. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Strength

TODAY’S VERSE
“The LORD gives his people strength.”
Psalms 28:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Strength is a mighty gift to have from God. With strength you can have many options. You can have strength to make it through a tough time. Strength to accomplish a difficult task. Strength to overcome overwhelming circumstances. Strength when all else has failed. Strength to be patient and wait on the Lord. Strength to tear down strongholds. Strength to get through another day. Strength to outlast a temptation. Strength to give it another try. Strength to accept grace. Strength to face your deepest fears. Strength to start over. Strength to admit when your wrong. Strength to accept your weakness. Strength to trust in God. Today God has all the strength you need. It’s yours for the asking.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, how I thank You that You give Your people strength. You know my needs. You know where I am weak and where I need Your strength. Give me all the strength I need for today. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Patience

TODAY’S VERSE
“Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience.”
Colossians 1:11 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
In his letter to the Colossians, Paul admonishes the Christians to “live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way.” He then tells them how. He says to get our strength from God’s power so we can exercise “great endurance and patience.” Endurance and patience pleases God. Patience is easier accomplished when there is hope. Where there seems to be a sense of fairness, it is easier to endure. But how often do we have that luxury? It is during difficult situations where all seems lost, where hope is nowhere to be found, that we must trust God and be strengthened in a way that only His power could accomplish. We come to Him, with all His glorious might, and choose to deliberately be patient and endure. It is an act of faith, one that is pleasing to Him. Today, trust God and His power, put your situation into His hands and choose to be patient and endure.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, help me trust in Your power and might and exhibit patience and endurance today in all I do.
AMEN

Trust and Obey

TODAY’S VERSE
“Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love.”
I Corinthians 16:13-14 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
What a “to do” list? Do you need something to do today? Try today’s passage. What a list, and such an important one for our spiritual vitality. What I am encouraged about is that God would not ask us to do something that He will not help us with. This is within our grasp. All we need to do is focus, ask God for His help and then be as diligent as possible. He will guide us. He will give us the strength and power to do what He has asked of us. Today, be on guard against spiritual apathy, attacks and adversaries. While you are on guard, stand firm on His word and your faith in what He has said and who He is. When trouble comes remember who God is and what He as asked us to do and be courageous in your attempt to be strong. Finally, if all else fails allow Him to work through you and do everything today with love! God is good and He will help you do what He has asked you to do. Simply trust and obey.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, thank You that You will provide all the help and strength I need today. Help me to be on my guard and stand firm in my faith. I need Your help to be courageous and strong. Lord please help me do everything I do today with love. I ask this in the name of Jesus.
AMEN

What Do You Really Need?

TODAY’S VERSE
“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
II Corinthians 9:8 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Need. That is certainly a relative word. We have taken the word “need” and have turned it into everything from a wish list to a whim. Larry Crabb addresses this in his book, “The Pressure’s Off.” He writes about what we really need. He writes, “Nothing wrong with desiring safe airplane flights and warn marriages and a decent income. But none of these things, none of our hopes for a “Better Life of Blessings”, represents God’s priority agenda… We need only to be safe from any power that opposes God’s agenda for our lifes.” And what is that agenda that we need? Crabb shares the three needs that God wants for us; radical forgiveness, supernatural love and spiritual might. And Paul shares that God is able to grant you these needs because through His grace God will provide all of the forgiveness, love and might that you will need in order to be involved in His good work. Today, might we lay aside those “other needs” that we think are so important and ask God to meet our real needs of forgiveness, love and spiritual might.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, I need You and Your spiritual provisions of forgiveness, love and spiritual might more than anything else in the world. Help meet my real needs today. I pray this in Jesus’ name.
AMEN
