Know God

TODAY’S VERSE
The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down. The LORD loves the godly. The LORD protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows.
Psalms 146:8-9 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever seen another side of someone and you asked them, “Who are you?” It happens. We can become so focused on our own life that we fail to notice the lives of those around us. How much more this can happen to our knowledge of God. Sure we read the scripture, we go to church. We have a head full of facts, historical references and Biblical doctrine but we never slow down to really know Him. Most the time our God is too small, too legalistic and too religious. If you really want to know God then examine love. Know what compassion is. Experience it. When you start to know love you are getting close. When that love becomes unconditional you are getting closer. When you can be compassionate toward yourself you are almost there. The Psalmist knew God. God is love. Today, get to know Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, help me to know Your loving nature. Nothing else matters. I want to know love, live love and worship You as love. Help me I pray, lover of my soul.
AMEN

Trust

TODAY’S VERSE
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.”
John 14:1

TODAY’S THOUGHT
In life we will have trials. We will have struggles. We have times of fear, doubt and anxiety. So we try to avoid conflict, hide from our struggles or simply escape through various ways. However, sooner or later avoidance, hiding or escaping won’t work. Everything starts coming apart and we have to face the situation we find ourselves in. The good news is that God cares! He knows your struggles, He knows your limitations. Jesus knew that in this life you would have tribulation so He encourages you not to let your heart become troubled. But how? How do we stop fretting? We stop our worry by replacing it with God. We put our trust in Him. God is almighty. He is all loving. He is for you. He loves you. He is your strength. We choose to believe that the Bible is true when it says, “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” So today, put all your trust in God. Stand firm, exercise your faith and give all your struggles, trials and temptations to Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, You know all about my situation. You know my worries, fears and anxious thoughts. Help me stand firm. Help my heart not to be troubled. I do believe in You, dear God. I come now and trust You with all my life. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Go

TODAY’S VERSE
“Go in peace,” Elisha said. So Naaman started home again.
II Kings 5:19 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
God doesn’t send you away. He sends you on a journey. He doesn’t dismiss you, rather He empowers you. That is the nature of a moment with God. Jesus did it all the time. After He gave tremendous grace to the woman caught in adultery, He said, “Go and sin no more.”
He told the man possessed by an evil spirit, after healing him, “Go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.” At the end of His life here on the earth, after Jesus mentored His disciples, He told them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel making disciples of all nations.” Today, worship Him. Spend time in His presence and while you are there, ask Him, “Lord, where do You want me to go today? What journey do you have for me?” Rest assured, He will empower you, He will equip you, He will send you.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, Help me hear Your voice. What do You want me to do? Where do You want me to go? Equip me Lord. Empower me Lord to do Your will.
AMEN

Alpha and Omega

TODAY’S VERSE
“I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”
Revelation 1:8 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
He is God, I am not. He is infinite, I am finite. No verse in all of scripture paints that picture more succinctly than this verse that the Angel, who was sent by Christ, gave to the Apostle John. It is Jesus Himself pointing out how mighty and infinite He is. He is the one, “who is, always was and is still to come.” What peace this should give us. He who created all things, was before all things and will never end, the Almighty One, He is our protector. What joy this should give us. He who in the beginning created all things is the one who loves us and has redeemed us. What hope this should give us. He who has no end has prepared an eternal place for us. Today, consider how mighty and infinite God really is and know that His love for you is the same, from the beginning of time and never ending.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, how majestic You are. How mighty. How infinite. You are worthy of all my praise and worship! Thank You for Your infinite love for me. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

Servant

TODAY’S VERSE
And the Lord replied, “A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them.”
Luke 12:42 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Jesus has called you to follow Him. But do you really understand that this means you are to be His servant here on earth? Do you take seriously the awesome responsibility that comes with that? Your first and foremost job on earth is to discern His will for each and every day and then do it. He wants you to be faithful in following Him, taking the responsibility He has given you with all seriousness and sensibility. Today, decide that He is Lord of your life and you are His servant. Commit to being His faithful and responsible servant managing all He gives you to do. This indeed is your noble calling. And praise God, what He calls you to do, He will empower and equip you to do.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for calling me to be Your servant. Help me be faithful in living this out. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN

What Pleases God

TODAY’S VERSE
And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.
I John 5:14 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Have you ever worked for someone that you were really in synch with? You knew what they wanted. You knew their passions, goals and plans so it was easy representing them. You could express their desires to others and speak for them in various business dealings. When it came to corporate affairs you knew what pleased them. How much more should this be true in our Christian experience? We are a child of God. We have His word. We have his Spirit living within us. We have been called to be about His business here in this world. Therefore John says that we can be confident that God will hear us when we ask for anything that pleases Him. So the first question is, “How well do you know God?” The second is, “Do you know what pleases Him?” If not, ask Him. Today, pray, “Lord, help me to know You and discern what pleases You so I can pray according to Your will.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, help me to know You better. Help me to know Your will. Help me to know what pleases You so I can pray according to Your will.
AMEN

Thoughts

TODAY’S VERSE
May all my thoughts be pleasing to him.
Psalms 104:34 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Just because we think something doesn’t mean it is good and pleasing to God. Lustful, hateful, immoral thoughts are obviously wrong and need to be rebuked and replaced by the right kind of thinking. However there are many seemingly “borderline” thoughts that we think that end up slipping right under the radar. We do not stop to consider whether or not these thoughts please God. They seem so normal, so right and so natural. However, many of our fearful and doubtful thoughts stand as affront to faith in God. He is not pleased. Jealous, bitter, and angry thoughts often dwell in our mind and we never stop to consider God’s opinion on them. Negative self-beliefs stand against the truth of God’s love for us and the pride He has in us as His beloved creation. The Apostle Paul took our thoughts seriously and wrote, “We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” Today, listen to what you are thinking and repent of any thoughts that do not please God and replace them with those that do.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, help me with my thinking. Holy Spirit help me catch my thoughts and examine them. Point out to me where I need correction. Father, I want to please you in everything I think and do. Help me I pray.
AMEN

Godliness

TODAY’S VERSE
Having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.
II Timothy 3:5 (ESV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Here is a riddle? How can you be Godly without God? You can’t. Yet that is what so many of us try to do. We read scripture. We go to church. We live a moral life. But does that make us Godly? The Pharisees followed that same program yet Jesus constantly criticized them for their ungodliness. The secret is in the second part of the verse. We become Godly by God’s power. It is the power of the Holy Spirit alive in our heart that teaches us, rebukes us and corrects us. It is God Himself that helps us live for Him. Today, fall in love with God. Seek His power in your life. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead can bring you into a Holy loving relationship with God Himself. As you love Him and live in His presence, His power will make you more like Him.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I desire to follow You. I want to live a Godly life but I cannot do it by myself. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit and make me more like You.
AMEN

Mercy, Peace and Love

TODAY’S VERSE
May God give you more and more mercy, peace, and love.
Jude 1:2 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Some things you just want more of! However not everything is beneficial. Cravings can create a demand for things that can be destructive. However the list Jude gives is something that every heart needs. Jude prays that God would give you more and more mercy, peace and love. That is an abundance of, an overflowing with everything you need to make it in this life. Mercy, God’s compassionate concern and action toward you. May you have more and more! Peace, the kind that Paul says passes all our understanding and will keep our heart and mind. May you experience more and more! Love, that is never failing, unconditional and able to fill every longing of your heart. May you have more and more! May the cry of your heart be more and more Lord! More and more of Him; for in Him you will get it all. Today, seek Him with all your heart and start enjoying more and more.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord Jesus, I want more and more of Your mercy, peace and love. I want more of You. I want to know and love You more and more. Help me to this end for Your glory.
AMEN

Crown

TODAY’S VERSE
He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
Psalms 103:4 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
In a perfect world you would have been loved deeply. There would be no question of your value, significance and worth. But we don’t live in a perfect world. Somewhere our meaning got lost in the translation. But God’s desire is for you to know the truth of who you are to Him. David writes, “The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust.” God the Father comes to you today and has a crown for you. A crown of meaning, a crown of royalty for you are a son and daughter of God! He crowns you with a crown made with love and tender mercies. Run doubt run. Flee fear. Be gone shame. Vanquish all lies that stand against the declaration that you are deeply loved. The King has come and He has crowned you His beloved. The Father has lavished you with His compassion. Rise and walk in the truth, for you wear a crown!

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for the crown You have placed upon my head. A crown of Your love and tender mercies. I humbly receive this gift and will wear it with gratitude and humility and a profound thankfulness. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
